SK's wife here. I find it a bit odd that the offical D&D site isn't listed there: http://www.wizards.com/
or more specifically for D&D http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/welcome
There are great things for use there as well. I love to look at the art gallery, and if I remember right somewhere there you have access to offical maps and such. It's been a while though.
Also I play D&D over the internet and for what it's worth we use MapTool and Ventrillo. I'll see if I can find those sites as well if you're interested. Ventrillo is just a Voice-Over-Internet program though so something like Skype would work too.
