Update: I just completed my giant b*****d sword. Damn...Maybe I should shorten it. I mean, it works great and its edge is razor sharp; I no longer have an apple tree. But I made it a bit too long...oh well, learn from your mistakes I guess.

It's a hand and a half b*****d sword......though I didn't calculate the length of the blade carefully before forging.......so it ended up being about 8 inches longer than anticipated....so that is why I called it giant......because its bigger than any other blade I've made.

You don't want a blade too long if it doesn't have sufficient width. what are the dimensions of the sword?

It started out with a bit of an unseemly width anyway....two and a half inches.....but I used a density forging technique that makes the steel both strong and flexible, leaving few limits to the length. The Weaponsmith I am in apprenticeship for made a six foot sword that was only two and a half inches wide and was able to wail on one of my knight friends something fierce. Personally I prefer to use my hand and a half longsword for full contact...I just like the weight of it and I've trained with it the most....
