Emmission Free renewable energy sources are by far cheaper than Nuclear power plants. It takes over 10 years to build nuclear power plants, how long to build a wind turbine or solar power plant? A few months to a couple of years topps, we need an answer now to our greedy power consumption, by 2017 or later it will be too late.
wind turbines are the most popular for non emitting energy sources but these forms of energy sources currently do not produce the massave amounts of energy needed....
to generate enought energy they need massave amounts of acres, and when there is a flock of birds near by the results are devistating.. thousands of birds can be killed each year in migration patterns... and if they were to consider the migratory patterns of some birds they can't determine what the same migration patterns would be in 10 years.... Global warming will change migration patterns of birds...
Also these turbines are very noisy... they destroy the natural landscape...
it would be far better if private homes in rural areas were to have small home wind turbines... it would produce enough energy for their house plus some... and the turbines would be spaced far enough apart to not cause to much harm to the environment...
alos a solar plant uses space as well... it would be better if home owners would use a special solar shengle on their roofs... that wouldn't waist any space...
i belive a combination of small amounts of rural wind turbines... solar cells on roofs.... methane gas powered generators at the sewage plant, and a few other new decies will be best in the end..... Nuclear whould not be a long term fix rather a short cruch so we can get off this oil...
