Maculele is a form of mock-combat dance using sugar-cane knives or wooden sticks. Maculele is almost always practiced and performed alongside Capoeira. However, the history behind Maculele is shrouded by the mists of time. It is for this reason that instead of making an informative post about Maculele, I have put aside this area in the guild for friendly debate about Maculele and its history. So feel free to debate about Maculele in this section of the guild, as long as you keep it friendly, calm, collected and polite.

Hey, whats up everyone? Well I know a little bit about Maculele, the story i heard goes a little something like this: a little boy named Maculele was alone in the village and bandits or something sort of raid occurd and Maculele took up two wooden sticks and tried to defend his land. Upon attempting so the boy was killed, and in honor of his courage they named the dance after him. This is what i had heard and wanted to share a little piece of mind.

It sort of annoys me that Maculele is always taught with Capoeira, half the workshops I go to are always taken up with Maculele and samba dancing!
