I saw this a really long time ago on AMC Monster Mayhem.
It said that godzilla is actually a visual metaphor for the dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan and actually represents the destructive power of the bomb. Hence his' atomic breath. That was in the first movie and it just kinda spawned into something else from there. Do you think any of the other monsters really stand for anything?
