I cannot even begin to express how sick I am of most people in the Arenas. The art arena is very obviously full of beginner artists who are trying to improve the way they draw.
Apparently, 9/10 of the inhabitants of this website are literally unable to recognize let alone comprehend this.
I find a drawing that I admit isn't quite the greatest thing ever, but obvious effort was put into it. The first seven or so comments will say something like,
"this sux"
"its horibel".
Some soulless losers even got as far to make snide, degrading comments like, "This stings my eyes/makes my eyes bleed."
Worst of all is "Stop even trying. You aren't good now and you never WILL be good."
What makes the comments all the more ironic and even worse, is that the commenters themselves most likely can't even draw a straight line.
How dare they be so hypocritical? Sorry, but people like that ought to be slapped square on the face. They can't say anything nice.
No. These people simply cannot leave a nice encouraging comment. Not a constructive comment!! Heaven FORBID! :O You'd think it was against Gaia rules to be nice.

The thing is that a lot of people who enter the Art arena are masterful artists who are able to sell their art for millions of Gaia gold. These people are assholes just seeking praise. I always vote their pieces zero. But some who enter the art arena are seeking art advice. These are the ones I make real votes on.
And keep in mind, the comment box specifically instructs people to give organized, thought-out comments. So if that doesn't make them do it, what will?

Dozens of newbies enter the Avatar Arena wearing starter clothes, or clothes that can be bought for a grand total of 12G in the Barton Boutique.
They enter their avatars and are instantly flamed by even more dozens of users.
...I simply put myself in the newbie's shoes.
Hold up. They are NOT total newbies. It costs ONE THOUSAND gold to enter the avatar arena. Therefore, anyone and everyone you see in there has been on Gaia long enough to save up a thousand gold. Unless somebody's been going around giving every newbie a free 1k.
The thing about the avatar arena is that hundreds, maybe THOUSANDS of users enter each week. The odds are WAY against you. You have a better chance of getting Fairy Wings from the Daily Chance. If people would use their brain before submitting an entry there, you wouldn't see avatar descriptions like
"i no its not good but i had 1k to spend and i figurd wat teh hell y not"
"I'm just bored,so I entered."
"I need a lot of gold so please vot 10"
Probably someone will say, but they just want advice with building their avatar! Well, if you want advice, go to the frigging Avatar Talk forum! The results are the same, except instead of costing a thousand gold, you can actually EARN some gold! Forget common courtesy, try having a little common sense.
