The Stone*~Citrine has been used as gemstones and other ornamental objects for thousands of years. In most early references it was often confused with topaz. *~The name citrine comes from the old French word citrin which means yellow. There has been much confusion between citrine and topaz, and citrine has previously been known as topaz, topaz-quartz, madeira topaz, Spanish topaz and Saxon Topaz, as well as by other names. *~The astrological signs of citrine are Gemini, Aries, Libra and Leo. Citrine is the birthstone for the month of November. *~Citrine is said to be especially useful in stimulating one's mental capacities, enhancing creativity & intuition and bolstering one's self-confidence. It is also said to give emotional control while making one more alert. Citrine is also said to be very helpful in assisting one to acquire and maintain wealth. *~Citrine is said to be usefull in helping to remove toxins from the body and to treat muscular disorders, and to help stimulate healing in general. It also is said to have been used extensively in treating a number of other disorders including those of the heart, liver, kidneys and digestive system. Citrine is also said to help provide relief from the effects of radiation, and to facilitate absorption of antioxidants. The Girl *~ Even at such a young age, Citani has developed a rather insatiable thirst for knowledge. She has taken a liking to holding herself up in her room with books and has proved to be highly intelligent for her age. More often than not she can be found in Zozma's room if not in her own, and visits the wise anthro daily if she runs across stuff she doesn't understand or to simply discuss topics of interest. She doesn't take much interest in things most children would such as games and the like and would prefer to curl up with a good book. While she may come off as a bit shy to others, she has no problem standing up for herself and would defend her friends without batting an eye.

*~ Zozma
~Zoz is an interesting resident of the household. He claims to be reclusive but can always be found in his room/lab experimenting on anything and everything he finds interesting. He's also not afraid to leave the safety of his room to tell others to shut up if something is bothering him. Currently he has taken responsibility over keeping the core safe since when his master found it she mistook it for an egg and tried to boil it. He managed to keep it relatively safe while running his experiments to figure out what the heck it actually is. Now that Citani has finally emerged he seems even more protective of her than before. He's downright ecstatic that she's developed a taste for knowledge and while he isn't too keen on some of the subjects she's taken a like to (Magic), he's a willing teacher. Honestly he's just happy he can be of use finally.*~ Rabe
~Luca's father, and most certainly where he gets his elusive and cryptic nature from. He is very wise and will not hesitate to give out wisdom and advice, so long as you can unravel the riddles he speaks in.*~ Luca
~Luca is a very mysterious kitsune. He is a very frustrating creature to find as he is often found lurking around the mansion, wandering from room to room like a specter. Despite this he is a very pleasant creature if not odd in his ways. He seems to possess a wisdom far beyond his age even among kitsune but tends to hide the fact by only answering questions he is asked and rarely talking on his own accord.*~ Sykes
~Lazy and easy going. Sykes might come off as a bit of an attention seeker. Put simply in his words though, he loves lazing around and he loves being around those who adore him, and typically those who adore him don't mind being lazed about on and used for a pillow. He's got quite a few canine tendencies and yet he should have the intelligence on par with a human. Despite being made of technology he knows little about it, instead opting for a street savvy type of wit. Just because he's lazy doesn't mean he can't move when he needs to. Despite his like for annoying Zozma he tries to stay on his good side because he's one of the few who can deal with any mechanical problems that might occur.*~ Carrick
~Guardian and protector of the mansion when night falls. A veteran warrior that grew sick of constant fighting and left his clan behind. Asellus found him alone during her travels, and knowing how dangerous it was for a lone gargoyle, offered him a place to stay. Grateful to the woman he took up the role of watching over the house at night, or maybe it was simply more out of habit and instinct. He prefers his solitude, and yet doesn't mind some good company from time to time. It can get awfully lonely on the roof at night.*~ Ravi

~The Beginning of Something Greater~
The room was dark. Not just dark dark, but 'oh my god I can't see my hand infront of my face' dark. There was however a source of light in the room, and even that seemed insignificant and suffocating in the sheer amount of darkness. Its origin was a lamp balancing precariously on a hard wood desk. Spewn across the desk was a myrid of papers, old and new, crinckled and not, some were covered from top to bottom in notes while others may have had a line of writting before the writer got fed up and crumbled it into a ball. The only other visable object of importance on the desk was what lamp was directed on, though slightly off center due to the massive influx of papers.
There sat a small red pillow of sorts with golden yellow tassles hanging off its four corners. Perched upon the pillow still was a small orangish globe...or rock of sorts. Its flawless and smooth surface though seemed to dismiss any thoughts at all that it might have come from natural means. But there it sat, peacefully and unfazed through all the shuffling and glinting slightly in the light as if to mock the inhabitant of the room and say 'I'm still here'.
Just then there was a large noise, a mix between a sigh and a grunt as two bright green pin pricks pierce the darkness with a relative ease. As if following the intial pin pricks, more splotches of bright green, this time larger, seemed to flare up until they revealed the entire body of the strange creature that lay sprawled out akwardly over the small sofa backed against the wall. One arm was propped up by the arm of the sofa and balancing expertly in one hand was a large tome that appeared to be extreme heavy, yet the creature gave way nothing to hint at that. His eyes scanned a particular paragraph before he closed his eyes with a sigh and slammed the book close with one hand. He mumbled something incoherent before slowly lifting himself off his perch and trudging over to the desk. Falling back into his rocking chair with a creak, he dropped the book harshly onto the desk sending papers flying everywhere and shaking the desk just enough to send the lamp tumbling over the side. With a strangely praticed ease the creature shot forward and plucked the lamp from midfall before setting it back in its proper place. Once he was sure everything of importance was secure he flipped the tome open to his book marked place.
He wasn't gonna lie. It actually hurt to read this. The sheer stupidity would make anyone with half a brain laugh or cry, all for the same reason. Which was exactly why he'd found it when he'd raided his master's chambers. Of course she'd have something like this. She thrived on this junk. But in all honesty he was out of options. He'd exhausted every source he owned and that was saying something due to the packed bookshelves on either wall that remained hidden from sight due to darkness.
His eyes darted back and forth over the page for a few minutes before his paitence could no longer stand it, and with a roar of sorts he slid the book (and a whole mess of papers) onto the floor with one arm. The resounding thud was something every other occupant of the hall probably heard. With a cry of frustration his elbows hit the desk, his head cradled in his hands, both hands gripping onto his crimson locks of hair for leverage.
Once he'd calmed his frustration down he folded his arms on the desk and rested his chin on them so he was able to stare at the object that was the source of his frustation. However there was no malice in his stare as he gazed at the small orb. No, his gaze reflected more of the curious nature that had him doing this entire thing at all. With a shuddering sigh he buried half his face in his arms and closed his eyes in an attempt to drift off or something. 3 words though were whispered to the surrouding darkness as the bright green designs on his body faded into nothing.
"What are you?"

~Hopelessly Lost~ Zoz & Em (~KiraKaguya~)
Sitting on the steps inside Etansel, the emerald Jumi placed her palms on her cheeks as she leaned in against them. Her knees bent in supported her elbows while her arms supported her head. She sighed heavily to herself at the helplessness feeling she got ever since she saw Crystal-san in that state. Though Kameko assured her Crystal was actually perfectly fine inside, the young girl still could not help but feel she was unable to do anything for her long time friend and the Healer of her race.
Staring off into the distance, she slowly scooted towards the wall, leaning her back against it. The Clarius chamber was right beside her; just a few steps away. Yet there was nothing she could do about this. At least nothing that she knew of. She was a new Jumi, certainly older than some of the other ones, but new to this whole thing.
While her friend and "sister" Kameko was determined to figure out a way to help Crystal, either it through research or other ways, she was left here of her own free will. Now she started to understand the magnitude of Rena-san's worries, troubles and sadness all boiled into one.
Zoz was lost. It wasn't you average, 'oh I must've taken a wrong turn' type of lost either. This was the 'Where in the seven hells am I?' The kind of lost that made you ponder more about how you'd gotten there in the first place, rather than where you actually were. However, for the most part Zozma seemed to be doing quite well in not letting his anxiety show to anyone watching. That is....if there was anyone around at all in the first place.
Zoz paused a moment, after a near trip over an unseen rock, to check on the precious object he held in his left hand, hidden under his tanned travel cloak. Holding the orb between two long fingers he held it up to the sun briefly, letting it glint madly in the sun for a few moments before returning it to the safety of his cloak. With an exasperated sigh he continued onward, in an attempt to find his way back home.
The longer he remained outside, he found himself hating it just a tad bit more. Or more importantly, the person who'd caused him to be outside in the first place. His 'master' had randomly popped up in his study this morning and proclaimed out of the blue that the gem he'd kept cooped up in his 'dark and dreary' study would appreciate some sunlight for a change. While his master's actions had ceased to surprise him, he found himself confounded as to how she could know of such things. After all...it was just a rock wasn't it? Well...after a good hour of mild arguing he found himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either take a walk outside with the stone, or have the first creature in her sight ravage his room. Choosing the former, and the lesser of two evils he found himself outside.
He'd never know how a simple walk could turn into such a... disaster, but he was determined to remedy the situation as soon as possible and then never step foot outside the house again. It only proved to be more trouble then its worth.
Poking his hand outside his cloak once more he opened it up and revealed the orange-ish stone once again. If the stone really needed sunlight then he'd have someone else take it for a walk, cause he clearly wasn't cut out for this.
Walking around for a while longer he paused when a very...obvious question popped into his head once again. Why would a stone need sunlight anyways?
With another heavy sigh, Em raised to her feet and patted the dust off her simple long sleeve dress. Zipping up the zipper for her jacket, she huddled into it for warmth while slipping her hands in the pockets to keep warm. This winter would surely turn out a bitter cold one. Lowering her head to blow warm air inside, she longingly stared at the enormous doors of the Clarius chamber. A longing, melancholy expression appeared as she thought about Crystal-san and Rena-san once more. One last sigh and she started her way down the meandering staircases.
The task of walking down the stairs themselves was meager and certainly no trouble for the average person-- or in this case, Jumi. However, the thoughts of her helpless friend in need lingered in her mind, distracting her as she made her way down. Crystal-san...Rena-san...
Just in front of the exit of Etansel, she stared upward to the general position of the Clarius chamber. When will this be over? Despite Kameko's constant reassurance accompanied by her guardian's, Em still felt saddened that nothing was happening.
The young Jumi stepped out of Etansel, traveling to the teleportation destination in which Fa'Diel linked onto the world of Gaia. As she stepped forward, her soft brown eyes aimed at the ground, unable to notice the surroundings around her. I should probably head home soon. She thought as she blew warm air into the cold. The little cloud created from the extreme temperature placed a brief smile on her face, but it didn't last nearly long enough for one as typically optimistic as her.
Without knowing, she bumped into a strangely crimson and neon green colored creature. Just a few seconds prior, her core glowed the usual sparkle indicating a core nearby. Somehow, she managed to zone out enough to ignore the cries of her jewel, calling out to the one in front of her now. It wasn't until she physically bumped into the creature that she noticed the core...or the creature for that matter.
"Sorry!" She yelled out of instincts, "I wasn't looking when I was walking, are you--" Her sentence was cut off short as she sensed the other core near by. It wasn't a familiar glow, thusly it was a new Jumi. Her eyes searched for the non-existent core on the creature's chest, only to find nothing in return. Curiosity built up within her, as she wondered where the core was. Some time has passed since she last felt the presence of a Jumi aside from her family's. "I think I'm losing my touch," she whispered softly to herself.
Smiling at the new face, she temporarily forgot all her previous troubles and apologized, "I'm sorry, again. I wasn't looking as to where I was going before I bumped into you. Are you alright?"
Unfortunately, at that moment Zoz also fell prey to the same problems and payed little heed to where he was going, or to watch for that matter. So when the young girl bumped into him, (or he bumped into her, whichever you prefer) he was caught horribly off-guard and with a masked yelp that sounded much like a squeak of sorts he took a quick step backwards, the hand holding the core recoiling back under his cloak instantly.
Now Zozma was not one for surprises. 98% of other's attempts to spook him failed. That measly 2% however had an uncanny pattern. It only happened when he was outside of his 'lair' so to speak, and only when he was lost in thought, which usually meant he was ranting and raving about his master in his head. Both which were true in this case.
Blinking at the girl curiously, he straightened up when he heard the apology. Taking a moment he shifted his cloak slightly with his free hand, before looking back over to the girl as she begun to talk, but paused mid sentence. He looked as if he was going to say something, until he realized she was thinking about something and was looking him over as if searching for something. Minding his manners, he remained silent until he heard her whisper something under her breath before she brought her attention back to him with a smile. Tilting his head curiously at the change in demeanor he decided it was best not to ask and simply brushed it off.
At the question he took a moment to size the girl up. She wasn't short persay, but he did have a tendency to tower over others, and she was no exception. She seemed bundled up for the weather, a fact he was just starting to notice wasn't the best. Whatever chill was strong enough to penetrate his cloak was no match for his fur, an aspect of himself that he'd seemingly taken for granted until now.
Snapping back to reality the question still echoed in his mind until he choose to answer, a wry smile weaving its way onto his lips. "I'm afraid I must apologize for the same thing. Lost myself in my own thoughts..." He preferred not to mention that these 'thoughts' were simply anger induced rants of his master's...stupidity. She was an exception to the phrase, 'There is a reason to my madness.' With no reason to said madness it was simply stupidity. Catching himself before he continue his rant, he managed to shove the thought aside for later and looked back to the girl. "Yes, I'm quite fine..." He trailed off with a mild smirk. "I doubt you could've hurt me much even if you tried, little one..." With a low chuckle he reached a hand out to ruffle her hair playfully.
She was glad that he accepted her apology, after all at home Kira is always drilling into their heads 'manners', 'manners' and even more 'manners'. Not to say she wasn't glad for those lessons in manners, but sometimes they were not only annoying, but futile too. Em certainly wouldn't want him to portray her as a rude little girl, or else she'd feel as if all her guardian's life-long work in her would end up in vain.
As he ruffled her hair, she giggled lightly at his silly actions. She was a little unsure as to why he did so in the first place considering they just met, but she was glad inside that he did. "I'm glad to hear you're ok," she chuckled softly.
The emerald Jumi eyed him up for a minute, wondering as to how he wasn't cold in this bitter weather. She didn't really know how thick his fur was, or how warm it actually kept him, but the thin little cape wouldn't even keep a polar bear warm.
Her curiosity got the best of her, and even though she was taught to do otherwise, she wanted to ask anyway, "So what brings you out here in the cold weather?"
At the sudden question, he simply muttered a quick "Eh?" before slowly glancing around to confirm that he was indeed lost. With a flicker of embarrassment flashing across his face he raised his free hand to scratch behind his large fluffy ears. "Ahh...well...I was told to take a walk...and well..."
He crossed his arms over his chest, the core still clasped safely in his right hand, as he pondered for a better way to admit he was lost. Sometimes pride was simply a pain in the behind, but that didn't stop him from being so. Upon realizing it'd be better to just be out with it and solve the problem as soon as he could, he lower his head with a sigh. "Well...I'm kinda lost..." He muttered quietly, hoping the young girl heard and yet hoping she didn't at the same time. Man...pride could be incredibly confusing.
Smacking himself mentally for letting himself fall prey to such confusing thoughts he pushed aside the slight embarrassment and met the girl's gaze with his own. "My master told me to go for a walk awhile ago and I here I am...only I don't know how to get back..." Thankful that his red fur hid any semblence of a blush, he quickly advert his gaze again and instead continued to look around. He'd have to remind himself when he got home to buy a book of maps...just in case he found himself in a similar situation for who knows what reason.
Em waited patiently for his answer while she stood there as best she could huddling for warmth. She constantly moved her legs about, trying to regain the lost feelings within them. At his answer to her question, she was at the very least glad that he admitted he was lost but also with the fact that they could probably move along soon enough.
Her eyes drifted slowly away from his eyes, traveling to that of the ever familiar object in his hand. When she eyed it, a flicker from her core shined, as if trying to send telepathic waves saying "hi" somehow through that. She smiled when the core eventually flickered back, indicating it was indeed a Jumi core. Though, she was unfamiliar with what core exactly it was and when she'll get to meet it in its Jumi form soon. Speaking of which, she recalled several Jumi revivals recently from news down the grapevine. She wondered when she could meet the little ones soon, too.
Shifting her gaze back upon the crimson creature, she smiled gently at him, "Where do you live? Maybe I could walk you to your street so you won't get lost on the way back," she teased slightly. Forming another cloud through her speech in the air, she simply stated, "It's getting cold out here, so should we start moving soon?" The young girl shifted her weight between her two legs, occasionally lifting up her warm boots for the sake of her numbed senses.
"Eh...well you see..." He paused for a moment as his tail finally made it's presence known by twitching nervously behind him. "I doubt I'd be able to make it home tonight seeing as the....distance...I've traveled..." Surely there was a better way to put that... " However, if you could point me in the direction of the nearest town, that should do splendidly..."
He couldn't help but turn his attention to the stone in his hand. Did it just flicker or was he seeing things? Was it really warm? Or was he feeling things as well? Turning his curious glance to the girl before him. Did she do something? Blinking a few times he kept switching between the stone and the girl before shaking the thought from his head. Home first, the mysteries of life second. He needed to keep his priorities straight...no matter how twisted they might've been.
At the slight tease he pouted his ears drooping slightly to enhance the image, but after awhile a small smile flickered onto his face. "Please, no need to make fun of my lack of sense of direction, little one." Emphasizing the word 'little' would hopefully get the same reaction from her as it did his master.
With another glance however, he noticed the young girl fidgeting slightly. Perhaps the weather? "If you are cold you shouldn't be out here, you could very well get yourself sick. Just point me in the direction and I shall be off, there is no need for both of us to be out here."
She blinked at the sight of his tail twitching behind his skinny, furry body. Shaking her head, she recalled it was impolite to stare no matter the case. Generously, she asked, "If it's too far from here, why not stay at my house for the night? In the morning we could walk to your town, or house, together. That way you wouldn't get lost as easily," she threw back at him for his comment about her obvious height in comparison to him.
"In any case, the closest town from here is around where I live anyway. And I'm sure my family won't mind having you for the night. That's so as long as you don't mind their...silly craziness." She chuckled lightly at the thought of her family. They were a wonderful bunch, she admitted that much, but they were for the most part very...crazy.
Even though Kira taught her to never talk to strangers, let alone so much as to invite one to stay for the night...surely she'd understand when Em explains the situation to her. Aside from that, he had a core in his hand, someone with a core can't emerge as an evil person. Well, maybe not everyone with a core had neutral or good intentions, but he seemed to nurse it well. He had it in his hand, gripping into it tight so it wouldn't fall. Certainly someone such as that can't turn out a bad guy by any means.
Returning her thoughts, she figured she was sort of...imposing and forcing his stay at her home. She wouldn't want him going home thinking such things now, "Unless you would prefer to stay at an Inn or a Motel?" she asked curiously.
He pouted once again at her 'lost' comment but that was soon masked be the surprise from her offer. While sleeping outside the past 2-3 days had been relaxing compared to the hustle and bustle of his place back home, the idea of an actual place to stay the night had its allure as well. Weighing the options he was quick to reply. "I think I will take you up on your generous offer, however, I do not wish to impose or be a bother..."
It was just then he realized that he didn't even know the young girl's name. Here she was offering him a place to stay and they hadn't even introduced themselves yet, that seemed kinda awkward to him so he was quick to remedy it. "If I may, ask the name of my new hostess?"
Given a moment his thoughts wandered back home. What was his master doing right now? It was rather one of two things. She was rather ravaging the forest surrounding their home and ordering out search parties like a natural born general in search for them, or...she didn't even realize it yet. The thought that Asellus hadn't even missed their presence in the past 3 days annoyed him enough to physically twitch slightly.
Shaking himself from his thoughts he smirked slightly. Crazy eh? "Silly craziness you say? Then I believe I'll feel right at home. My own house is equivalent to the local zoo you might say..." The overwhelming truth behind that statement made him chuckle slightly.
Shaking her head with a smile, she replied, "You won't be imposing at all. We're used to it by now, and we always have spare beds, sheets, pillows, blankets, etc. It's only for the night, it's not like you're moving homes," she laughed.
Pointing in the direction of her town, she hoped he'd get the signal to start walking with her when she did. It was rather cold out, and she'd like to stay relatively healthy throughout not only the holidays, but at least until Crystal-san is all recovered. Though in the back of her mind she realized she was immune to regular sickness or diseases anyway. Still, it was cold out, and she rather enjoyed feeling her limbs as she walked.
"My name is Emarude, or Em for short. What's yours?" She asked as she paced on. The young girl kept her eyes forward, unable to see his inner conflict play out into the open. Though she had a feeling that somehow the residents at his home would get worried if he didn't at least call or something. "When we arrive, I think it'd be best if you give a call home." She smiled to herself, keeping her teasing tamed for now. After her previous statement she wanted to throw in 'to tell them that you got lost', but refrained from doing so.
"True, true. Just give me a pillow and I can sleep anywhere you want me to..." He grinned slightly. He could asleep on anything imaginable, his only problem was rolling off of stuff....but that was completely besides the point.
He paused a moment as the girl began to walk off. Then taking the hint he was quick to scurry after her, matching her stride easily. "Em eh? Tis a pleasure to meet you Miss Em, you can call me Zoz." Due to them walking side by side it was a bit awkward, but he managed a slight bow before returning to his stride.
"Call home?" It was an obvious answer to his problem, but just then a devilish little smirk wound its way onto his face. "Nah...they deserve a good scare every now and then...and that's even if they realized I'm gone..." He scuffed the ground irritably with his bare foot. He failed to mention that Asellus had PLENTY of others to watch over, and that he was probably the most responsible creature in that household...even more so then the girl, but eh? Just minor details to him.
Changing the subject was for the better, so Zoz decided to bring up a question that had been nagging him since they had met. Poking the hand that held the stone out from inside his cloak he held it firmly between two fingers as he stared at it for a moment. His gaze soon turned to the girl walking beside him curiously. "You...wouldn't happen to know what this is do you? I swear I saw it flicker earlier when you came..."
She laughed lightly at his comment. Even though he stated he could sleep anywhere, Em was pretty sure Kira would give him either a guest room or extra bed to sleep on/in. They did have quite a few extras lying around the house for whenever Kira decided to bring home more new members of the household that required beds. So far they've only sat there collecting dust and lord knows what else, but that was also besides the point.
The young girl turned her head slightly to face him, giving him a small nod of the head to acknowledge his comment. "It's nice to meet you, Zoz-san."
She didn't quite understand why he would feel the need to scare his guardian once in a while, though the thought was amusing, if Em ever tried that Kira could without a doubt give her a good lecture. Of course, she wouldn't force it upon him that he calls home, since it was his decision to do whatever he pleased, but she frowned slightly upon that thought.
Rolling her eyes to the side as she continued her pace, she answered him plainly, "It's a core. It's like mine." She unzipped her jacket a little to reveal her own emerald core, which flickered once more at the sight of the citrine core. "Whenever cores are close-by or meet one another, they flicker. It's like...a signal to one another, if you'd want to think of it like that. Hopefully, one day your core will be reborn into a Jumi such as myself," she smiled gently at the thought of another Jumi friend. "If it glows, just take it to Crystal-san at the top of Etansel. She'll help you through the rest," she gave a small nod.
Though thoughts of Crystal-san made her slightly sad, she reassured herself to look upon this matter optimistically. Crystal-san would choose a Knight of her own. She should feel happy for her friend, rather than sad. After all it should feel as a happy occasion.
Zoz's ears perked up awkwardly as he turned to face the girl as she explained about the stone. He blinked curiously, his eye widening at the sight of the girl's own emerald core. The researcher within wanted to poke it, just to make sure it was real, but every other side of him told him to respect the girl's personal space so he managed to contain himself.
The moment the 2 cored flickered he manged to turn his gaze back to the stone he held in his own hand. It felt warm again. Releasing the death grip he held on it he instead raised it up in the palm on his hand. Narrowing his eyes he stared at it intently to the point where he almost hit it with his nose. Yes... he could tell it was alive. That was something he knew from the moment his master had brought it home. Apparently Asellus had noticed as well cause she initially thought it was an egg and tried to crack it open.
"Interesting..." He muttered quietly as he continued to stare at it for a moment longer. The fact that it would soon turn into another human didn't seem to sink in at that moment. However, when it did it showed. He froze completely in his tracks, his eyes staring through the core and off into the distance.
So he'd have ANOTHER person to look after...and a rugrat at that! With a sigh he shook his head slightly before continuing onward. He mine as well enjoy the silence while whoever it was resided inside the rock. Cause he sure in hell wasn't gonna let Asellus raise the kid... that was a disaster waiting to happen. Plus, knowing her she'd turn the kid against him...Just what he needed. No...it wasn't gonna be like that. He'd make sure that this one grew up properly...well as properly as one could grow up in the figurative zoo known as his house.
Zoz kept his silence as he continued to muse about what was going on, therefore he didn't pick up on his hostess sadness.
She zipped up her jacket once more, slipping her hands into her pockets. On occasion, her eyes flickered over to Zoz, watching his movements with the core. Some of the things he did was certainly laughter worthy. Others were just plain weird.
Continuing at her pace, the constant exercise kept her warm for a little bit. The cool air didn't feel as chilly, and at the very least the feeling in her legs returned. Still, it was cold enough that one should not wear a dress without leg warmers or pants underneath. Though, Em didn't care much about the weather when she hurried out the door with the first thing she found to wear as she headed off to Etansel.
Her eyes beamed slightly as she saw her town close by. Though it was pretty dark out, she could easily recognize the surrounding areas. The small little park and the many brilliantly lit houses. At long last, her haven was within sight. "The town is just up ahead," she called out to the furry creature beside her, "My house is towards the middle of town, but it's only about a five minute walk from here to there."
The viridian hair girl couldn't help but blow furiously into her hands as she scurried about. After all she needed to keep feeling in them lest they fall off. If that happened how was she suppose to drink her coco! Straws didn't work...Oh no...she'd discovered that the hard way when she tried and it ended up melting the straw causing her to drink molten plastic. THAT was not fun....nor did it taste very good.
So yes...hands were an important thing. Which was exactly why she'd forgotten her gloves as she traversed the grand 10 minute journey from her house on the outskirts of town to her friend's house. She was all bundled up otherwise. Double layers of shirt and pants, a scarf, a cape, protective goggle like glasses, even a goofy little hat atop her head adorned with the stereotypical pom-pom. All in randomly placed hues of green, orange, and black. Apparently someone had forgotten to tell her Halloween was over.
Spying her destination she literally dove for the door, just missing and face planting on the door step. Leaping up, she shook it off and knocked politely on the door. "Kiiiiiira! Open up! It is coooold out here!" She half called, half whined as she hugged herself to keep warm.
Unaware of his actions when he was in 'observation mode' or when he was thinking, he continued to muse over his thoughts before he spied the lights ahead. Glancing about, a strange frown wove its way on his face. He however kept his silence till they were further along.
"Ya know...I think I've been here before. This place looks oddly familiar." Too familiar. It was one of those Deja vu feelings. Not to mention it was on the very tip of his tongue as well.
With narrowed eyes he continued to follow the young girl, his eyes observing everything with a suspicious glint in his eyes.
Upon hearing a very loud and all too familiar call outside of her house, she yelled, "Coming!" at the top of her lungs trying to carry her voice through the kitchen, through the door and to the girl's ears. She flicked off the stove, allowing the hot pot to sit there while it whirled about crazily telling her the water was at a boiling point.
Pacing to the door, she wiped her hands quickly on her apron from all the little snacks she was preparing prior to the knock. Trying to catch her breath for a second, she placed a small grin on her face as she knew who her evening guest was.
Twisting the doorknob and pulling the door backwards, she glanced at her friend standing patiently at the door. Grinning, she invited her in, "Come in. It's cold out, so hurry up." She couldn't help but tease at her friend about the weather outside. There wasn't snow quite yet, but it was getting to the point of almost snowing.
"I trust you can close the door by yourself, assuming your hands didn't freeze off on your walk here. Make yourself at home, as always. Just wait for me in the dining room, I'll be with you in a sec," she said as she walked back into her kitchen.
Opening her cupboards and pulling out two mugs, she tore open the quick mix hot coco packages and dumped them into the cups. She lifted the pot off the stove, pouring the hot water into each, almost filling them to the brim. The girl threw a few marshmallows in there too, then stirred them lightly with spoons. Throwing her apron off, she took with her the little bowl of sweets and chips as she walked into the dining room with the two cups of coco and snacks. Setting them on the table, she pulled out a chair and sat down.
Her head titled slightly to the side at his words. She thought nothing much of it, assuming he came here once or twice prior to this random occasion. Em continued treading through the cool weather, her body huddling in on itself for warmth. As she walked further and further into the town, she could see her house lit up with decorative lights.
Walking through her yard for the sake of time, she knocked on the door lightly. She was anxious to enter into the household and warm herself up. The nice little fireplace lit up and the central heating. Not to mention the convenient microwave for warming up hot water for hot coco. She was sure her guest would like a cup too. Not many would refuse a warm drink after walking through cold weather. Knocking again, she awaited her guardian or other family member to answer the door.
"Tell me something I don't know!" She squeaked slightly as she danced back and forth in an effort to keep warm. Scurrying in and closing the door promptly behind her she suddenly threw herself into a long winded excuse, before the other girl's words registered in her head.
"Gomen! IwasgonnacomeearlyandseeifyouneededhelpbutIlostmygloves."
Big pause. Deep breath.
"SoIwenttofindthemandIdidbutIendedupforgetingthemanyways."
Pause. Deep breath.
She blinked as the words seemed to flow like water from her mouth before she could stop them, or slow them down so they'd even make since. She followed Kira throughout the explanation but ended up turning around and flopping unceremoniously in one of the chairs with a sigh. It seemed like a miracle that the hyperactive girl could process stuff in her mind while spewing forth words as if they were going out of style. Even if the processing was a bit delayed.
"Now my hands are cold." She concluded somberly as she promptly sat on them in an attempt to warm them up. She couldn't help but grin up at her hostess as she appeared with the coco and other delicious treats. The moment the mug of coco was set before her she slipped her hands from under her bum and wrapped them around the mug with a content sigh. That felt nice.
Once she could feel her fingers she took a sip of her coco and literally melted back into her seat. Gathering up her legs so she sat cross-legged in her chair she plucked a single chip from the bowl and proceeded to munch at it like a chipmunk. Once said item was munched into several hundred pieces she swallowed and licked the salt from her fingers with a satisfied grin.
"Yum!"
Realizing that all his suspicious glaring about was causing him to fall behind, he promptly ceased the action and jogged ahead to keep up. Once they'd reached the door he proceeded to dust himself off slightly of anything he might've picked up along the way. Didn't want to drag any unwanted leaves and such into the nice girl's home.
Kira merely laughed at her friend's usual clump of words married together. Even though she couldn't understand a thing, she could at least figure out that her friend was quite cold. She did pick up that whatever Asellus was speaking of, it involved her hands somehow. Seeing her friend do the same, she wrapped her hands around her mug too, slowly taking a sip or two while chewing on the marshmallows.
Her ears perked as she heard the knock on the door, sliding out of her chair she said promptly, "Em must be home now. I'll be back." After leaving her friend at the table, she made her way to the door, opening the door to see a familiar face along with what she thought was a guest.
"Welcome home, Em," she said to the girl with a smile, "I see you've brought a guest home. Come in, you two. And I trust that you can welcome your guest in fine as well. The usual guest is here, so just come join us for hot coco at the dining table when you get the chance," she beamed.
Her eyes lit up when the door opened. At last warmth awaited her inside her home. "I'm home, mum," she replied to her guardian as she was welcomed. She faced to turn to her guest, a small smile on her face, "Go ahead. I'll close the door behind you. I hope you would like to join us for hot coco, too. And you don't have to worry much about our guest, she's a family friend--or pretty much an extended part of the family. Either way, just act as you would in your own home."
Over the years of watching over her large...brood... of companions, Asellus had developed what she'd like to think of as a 'sixth' sense so to speak. She'd like to call it the 'Mother Hen Sense.' She simply KNEW when one of her charges was around, or if they were in trouble. This 'sense' twitched in her mind, this time being the former. Curiously she set her coco down and peaked over the back of her chair, her ears and tail twitching curiously. Lo and behold, the lost one had returned. She couldn't help but grin evilly. He'd come back and he didn't even REALIZE yet. Oh...this was too perfect...Crouching down as Zoz looked over at her she spun about and assumed the position.
Zoz bowed politely to Kira as she answered the door. Following her into the house he slowly and quietly entered the room, not even noticing the human in the chair he flopped down on the floor near the fireplace. Just because the cold didn't bother him didn't mean the heat didn't feel nice. With a content sigh he set the citrine core off to the side careful not to set it too close to the fire before turning back to the door, and for the first time spotting the...creature in the chair. It took a moment to register, but that's all he had before it struck.
"YOUR SOUL IS MINE, LOST PUPPY DOG!" Asellus had been crouching in the chair with her hands up by her face, fingers arched like claws and a maniacal grin and glint in her widened eyes. In a flash she was soaring through the air at him, cape billowing out behind her like a set of orange and black wings. That image was completely destroyed as she made contact, knocking the anthro over onto his back and landing on his stomach.
They remained like that for a few moments, Asellus piled onto of the larger creature, while Zoz simply stared in a mixture of horror and confusion at his master.
With a cheery little smile she got back up and scurried over to grab her hot chocolate. Walking back over she bent over him blinking at the stunned expression on his face. He recovered enough to try and sit up and that's exactly when she sat back down on his stomach, legs crossed. He fell back with a small 'oof'.
"Now now..." She admonished as she took a small sip of her drink. "Just where on earth have you been exactly? Hmmm? A few days ago I sent you out for a walk, not on the quest to find the holy grail." Pondering this for a few moments she set the cup down in her lap and poked Zoz in the forehead keeping her finger there and pinning his head to the ground. "Explain yourself oh lost little puppy dog!"
As she made her way back to her warm coco, she saw the events unfold in front of her. Most would find it very strange, perhaps even call it harassment or even more extreme words. Kira, however, was no stranger to her friend's habits. Even if she didn't know who the crimson creature was exactly, once Asellus sat on top of him she knew all too well exactly who he was. Her friend would only do so to one of her own, and at first the sight was shocking, the young hostess was all too used to it. In fact, she found it quite amusing.
"I see that you've found your lost one," Kira yelled out from the dinning room.
Em closed the door gently behind her. As she entered the dining room, she was a bit shocked at the events at first. She knew better, though. She knew of the guest's habits, and how she acted with her own. Even if Kira's way of discipline was less painful physically, each guardian had their own in disciplining their own children. She couldn't very well tell Asellus whom was a guest in her household what she thought of her methods. Even if she disagreed, she had no right to say such things. Though she would prefer that method over Kira's long lectures.
Turning to face her guardian, she smiled gently. She pulled a chair out, sitting down in it to take off her poofy jacket. After, she placed it on the back of the chair, standing up again while heading off into the kitchen.
She slowly sipped her hot coco, enjoying even warm moment of it. When she saw Em make her way into the kitchen, she said softly to her child, "There's hot water on the stove already. Don't forget to make two."
The young Jumi gave a small nod as she entered the kitchen. She got out two mugs and poured the instant coco mixes into them, then proceeded to pour the hot water into them, stirring each with a metallic spoon. The girl threw a few marshmallows into hers, though she didn't in the other as she didn't know if Zoz liked marshmallows. She stirred hers for a bit more, allowing the marshmallows to melt into the coco.
She walked back out with two cups of coco, placing both on the table. Even if she didn't wish for his to get cold, she didn't wish to intrude on their little discipline moment. In the presence of Kira, she wouldn't want to risk appearing rude or nosy at all. Her lectures were always so long, and in the time passed she could've read a few pages in her books. So, she merely sat there sipping her hot coco while her body warmed up. Hopefully this will finish before his coco got cold.
None of her actions surprised him. Living with the girl for too long and steeled him against any surprises...well most. The only thing that truly spooked him WAS the fact that she was here, sitting on him and poking him in the head. It was clearly not an illusion. Stuttering slightly he managed to choke out the one thing plaguing his mind. "W-w-what the heck are you doing here!?" He managed to push her back slightly and point an accusatory finger at the young girl sitting on him.
Completely ignoring Zoz's little fit, she was quick to respond back to Kira who was in the kitchen. "The lost puppy has returned!" She proclaimed in confirmation of Kira's statement. "Now come puppy! Tell me of your adventures and why you didn't invite me if you were gonna be gone this long!" Turning back to face him awkwardly as he asked his question, she raised an eyebrow. "What am I doing here? What're YOU doing here! You could've at least checked back in before visiting a friend's house!" She paused for a moment. "Come to think of it...I didn't even think you knew Em..." She gazed over at the Jumi for a quick moment before turning back to the anthro.
Nothing was making sense. He tried to fit the pieces together but it was the equivalent of fitting squares into round holes. It simply didn't add up. At the mention of home his eyes widened before narrowing into pin-pricks as he stared back up at her. "What do you mean home?"
Asellus stared at him oddly before pointing in the opposite direction of where their house was. "Our house is 10 minutes that way." Apparently she'd gotten her direction mixed up but it didn't matter. Her eyes narrowed suspicious at him before the pieces clicked. She could only stare as a sly grin reached her face. "You didn't even recognize your own town!" She chirped before glomping the anthro and giving him a nuggie. "That's my boy! All brains, no sense of direction!" As Em brought the cups of hot chocolate in, she reached forward just barely managing to grab Zoz's cup and handing it to him. With that she grabbed her own mug and took another sip, returning her attention back to her hostess and Em.
He sat up slowly, causing Asellus to slide into his lap as he sat up. He continued to glance around like a fish outta water before he calmed himself and took a sip of his coco and proceeded to melt into relaxation. He'd have to give up trying to understand what was going on. ANYTHING involving his master ended up in an illogical fallacy, it was the way of life after all.
"I can see that," she answered her friend with a smile. Acknowledging the anthro's presence, she called out to him, "I invited her over for some coco. Then somehow you ended up here. Somehow Em brought you here, I'm not sure why though. Especially if you only live ten minutes away from here. Shouldn't you have gone home first before coming here?" Turning back to Em, she asked curiously, "Speaking of which, Em, how do you two know each other?"
She didn't even have time to speak up when Asellus took Zoz's cup of coco away from her hands. Em stood there for a moment, a little confused. Not too soon after she returned to sipping her coco. Tilting her head at her guardian's question, she answered softly, "I met him on the way home from Etansel. He had a core with him."
She took another sip full of satisfaction. Her gaze was on the couple on the floor, along with the little core off to the side. She smiled gently at the sight of the core, pondering on how it'll turn out one day. Another cute little one running around, perhaps.
"I didn't even know where I was!" Zoz cried in an attempt to answer the questions posed to him.
"I believe him!" Asellus piped up, hooking one arm around his neck and leaning back against him. "He's never had a very keen sense of direction... IF his even exists. Ever since he was yay high." She placed her hand no more then 6 inches off the ground. "And trouncing through the house on all fours like a hyper active bunny rabbit." She paused for a moment. "A radio active one as well." A sly grin seemed to spread over her features. "He really did look like a bunny! He had these really long ea-"
Throughout her little explanation Zoz had been rubbing his ears in a self-conscious manner before he hauled off and cuffed her upside the head. Asellus took it with good grace, in fact it only seemed to make her laugh even harder.
Finally managing to calm herself down she turned her attention back to the emerald jumi and offered up a goofy smile. "Thanks for finding him Em! Who knows where he would've ended up!"
Finally simmering down a bit she spied the citrine core that Zoz had set down earlier, thankfully prior to his pouncing. Reaching over, she cupped the orb in both hands carefully and lifted it up so she could see it better. "You've been taking good care of the core I see. That's my boy!"
Zoz almost seemed to scoff slightly at her words. "Off course I have. Who knows what would've happened if you had to watch over it...." He trailed off slightly, something not clicking with what she'd said. Did she call it a core? "Y-you knew!" Zoz choked into his coco slightly. "Even after I was doing all that research you still didn't tell me!"
Instead of coming up with some elaborate excuse that would've been typical of her, she simply grinned and reclined back, using him as a chair. "Now why would I do something like that?"
They were certainly an interesting family unit. She stared at the family conversation, sipping bits of her coco as if watching a TV drama in real life. It had its moments--especially the surprise ending. How could Zoz not have known while his own guardian did? She figured at least one of the two were responsible enough, and together they would raise that little Jumi up as a fine young citizen in the world. At the thought she smiled softly to herself, blissfully unaware of anything else.
With so many emergence ceremonies recently, hopefully little citrine core will emerge soon as well. And maybe this time Em would stand by its side to witness the emergence ceremony. Last time she went, she was all too busy on her way home to so much as step into Etansel. She was glad whomever it was emerged safely and healthy, but if her memory served her correctly, she hasn't seen the new Jumi since then. Not so much as a face or a voice.
Addressing Zoz plainly, Kira called out to him, "So I guess you're not exactly the guest Em was planning to make you, eh?" She grinned as she glanced over to Em who was innocently sipping coco. "That is unless Ase here wants to make you into one...But I think she has too much fun torturing you at home that she wouldn't give you up for the world," she finished with a wink at the two.

~Lost Again & Emergence~ Zoz & Em (~Kira~) with guest appearances from Crystal and some mysterious shadow (Rena-san & Dee-san)
After a prolonged period of time, one would think he'd finally start to learn from his mistakes. Off course not. For all of the common sense that he claimed to have, he seemed to be lacking it times two. Which of course is exactly how he ended up on yet another walk with the core. Only this time...he was REALLY lost.
At first it was just his room. She'd snuck in when he left to get something to drink, only to return to find himself locked out. Then as he left the area of the house to go to the roof and possibly swing in from a window, only to remember after he'd been completely locked out of the house, that he didn't have an windows in his room. Yes...his brain had apparently checked out earlier today.
Or yesterday, at the moment he wasn't particularly sure at the time of day, only that it had been dark for a very long time. Why he had chosen to wander off this far into the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night was beyond him. In fact, in an eerie sort of way it was almost as if something was to calling him. Or his utter lack of sleep was starting to catch up to him.
Yeah...that must've been it. That and the tiny core tucked away within the safe confines of his cloak was laughing at his stupidity by glowing. Not that he could see that either.
How long passed since that last incident with Crystal? Months, probably. Even so, the emerald Jumi never once ceased to pay the occasional visit to the chamber in hopes that something had happened. Of course, each time she came home with the usual disappointed face. Then again, she didn't frequent there with high hopes, either.
Sighing softly, she made her way down the swirling stairs of the city once more. It didn't seem like anything dramatic would happen anytime soon. Best to head home for now before anyone started to worry. The skies were already dark and she promised to be home at a reasonable hour. When she returned, she would have to expect a lecture from her care-taker for staying out so late, especially alone.
Regardless of the situation or what lies ahead, she blindly wandered out of the city. At night when the moonlight shined on the jewels embedded within the city itself it produced its own strange, yet beautiful colorful display. Now that she was getting further and further away from the city, it was harder and harder to see what little roads there were. She would only occasionally pass by a street light or two.
As if with another deja vu, she unknowingly bumped into a strange being until it was too late. "Sorry," She apologized. In the darkness it was hard to tell who she bumped into exactly.
It was odd. He didn't think his naturally ability to see in a dark would've been...turned off just cause he was down right exhausted, and in fact the more he thought about the idea the greater the urge was to smack himself for thinking as such. However, while these thoughts circulated in his mind he continued to walk...forgetting he couldn't see for one reason or another. So of course it was natural that he bumped into something...something that was living...
So he jumped and squeaked a bit in surprise his eyes opening to search for the being he'd knocked into. Then it hit him...when had he closed his eyes? Was he sleep walking or something? Nah..he could remember what was going on...even if it did seem a bit blurry. He was too busy thinking that he didn't feel deja vu poking at him, and it was probably for the best considering his...current state of mind.
Upon the notion that he'd yet to apologize, he mentally slapped himself before turning around, his hand raised to lower the cowl of his cloak. Peering over at Em, he found himself hard pressed not to choke at that moment. Then deja vu decided to smack him.
"Oh...you've got to be kidding me..."
For a moment there she could feel her core flickering as if trying to inform her of something. She was too busy apologizing and gathering herself back together, though. Certainly, she could feel the presence of another Jumi very close by, but she immediately dismissed the thought in thinking she was merely just exhausted both physically and mentally. Nothing unusual, probably.
When she came to, soft brown eyes gazed in bewilderment. "Zo--Zozma?" She asked with surprise, "What a surprise to see you! It's been a while," a soft smile followed her little blurb. What was he doing here so late, anyway? Getting lost again? At this hour?
At first she was distracted, then her core flickered once more. This was definitely not a coincidence. Perhaps fate arranged this, or even the Mana Goddess herself. She could feel the other core flickering back at her, as if to rush her towards the Clarius chamber in order to transform back to her original self.
"Your core...It's glowing."
Oh yes...the fates were obvious conspiring against him to make him look like an even bigger fool then he already was, especially to those he knew. The icing on the cake was when he saw that slight smile on Em's face. She was a smart girl. She knew him enough to know why he was out this late, or at least the person responsible. There was a momentary flicker of anger before it fizzled out. He didn't have the energy to be mad at Asellus right now, she wasn't worth what was left of his current comprehension. "A welcomed surprise to see you as well Em. The first sigh of relief I've had all day..." He paused. "...night...?" Another pause. "morning?..." He sighed in frustration. " Heck I don't even know anymore..."
So while he managed to completely slide past any words or signs that pointed at his permanently impaired sense of direction her next words caught him completely off guard. "I don't...think so?" It was more of a question before he began to fish around inside his cloak for the momentarily forgotten sphere. Finding it he pulled it out, before holding it out in his open palm. It was indeed glowing. His hand rose to bring the core right up to his face and his eyes seemed to narrow at it. "You know..you're really good at making me look bad..." He mumbled before lowering his hand back down.
He paused a moment before turning his neon green gaze back at Em. "Is this suppose to happen? Did I do something wrong?" It was becoming increasing obvious at how out of his element he was. He wasn't used to dealing with things he didn't know everything about...let alone nothing.
When he asked about night and morning, she silently rose up her arm. She gently moved the sleeve of her jacket out of the way, gazing momentarily at her softly illuminated wrist watch. "Almost morning," She replied softly, "About a half an hour or so until morning, officially."
She couldn't suppress the light chuckle at his response to the glowing core. He was an outsider, after all. She couldn't expect him to know the way things worked around here. Though, how will the core emerge with Crystal encased in stone? That was a different matter. She should at least have the courtesy of leading him to the Clarius chamber.
"It's supposed to happen. Don't fret too much over it, just follow me and things will unfold as they should." Not too soon after that she twirled around facing the far away glowing city once more. She didn't know it, but as she walked towards the large gates leading into the city a small smile flickered on her face.
The time didn't come as to much of a shock to him. After all his sense of passage of time seemed to be along the same lines as his sense of direction, also known as non-existent. He paused a moment to count the hours he'd been wandering aimlessly, on his fingers none the less. A true testament as to how much he just wanted to curl up on his couch and sleep.
Though the anthro had no idea as to what was going on, he was happy to follow. "Lead the way then." Lucky for him, whenever they finished what need to be done she could help him get home...Then he would proceed to sleep on his couch for a day or two, and by the god if anything, including the trivial obstacle known as locked door stood in his way...they would cease to exist anymore. Even if that meant he'd have to fix them in the morning. It would all be worth it.
With the promise of sleep sometime in his near future instead of the aimless wandering, Zoz perked up considerably. "Soooo where exactly are we going?"
She couldn't tell of her personality too well yet. It was only a brief meeting, after all. Same with the previous meeting. Too brief to get anything out of it. But soon she would emerge, or hopefully would emerge. Thinking about that temporarily placed the thought of the rock-solid Crystal in the back of her mind. For now she focused on the brighter thought of the two.
"To the city, of course." Her finger pointed at the towering, softly glowing building in front of them. Actually, it was too large for a building. The city, rather. Of course, the gates as usual were left unlocked. Not too many people could frequent such a place often enough.
With an effortless push, the gate slowly swung open on its own. "It's quite the climb to the top, but it's not continuous all the time, so we have regular 'flat' ground to walk on in between, too." She made her way towards the stairs, slowly leading the anthro and core towards the top. For sure even someone who was athletic and climbed many stairs before even this one was rather difficult. Even she could feel the exhaust in her legs despite climbing them so often.
"Oh..."He blinked up at the towering...building? Nah...buildings didn't come this tall or look like this. Walking slowly through the gates his eyes instantly traveled and followed the multitude of stairs that wrapped around and led to the top. "That's...a lot...or stairs." He paused for moment. "And I have a sneaky suspicion we're gonna have to climb all of them..."
The task of climbing all the stairs seemed to disappear the moment they actually started. Anything the sparkled, anything that looked remotely interesting....everything caught his attention, and soon he resembled that of a kid in the candy store. He'd heard of places like this, but never did he think that they really existed. After all..he'd read about such a place in one of his master's ancient civilization books. If his master read it that was nearly a given for it all to be false. Yet here he was. Climbing what seemed to be an endless staircase and passing by hundreds of shiny gems, not unlike the one tucked away in his cloak, all embedded in the walls off the very...place. Once again, he couldn't find a turn that could describe the place.
In fact for once he found himself just observing. His brain hurt too much to try and wrap it around everything he was seeing anyways. Little did he know of what would actually be happening in the so near future.
As amazing as the city decorations were, Em just continually lead him up towards the top never slowing down her original speed. She was too anxious to see if something would happen with this core. The core previous to this one was from months ago, at least. She could only hope that somehow within these few months something changed so that Crystal may emerge again.
The giant doors leading to the Clarius Chamber was right there in front of them both. Despite their appearance, they were rather easy to open. With a continuous push, she opened the door wide enough for the both of them to enter at the same time.
Crystal was right there in front of them, still encased in stone. It mattered little, though. She still reacted to Em's core, as well as that about-to-emerge-Jumi tucked under Zozma's cloak. "Crystal," She called out softly, "We have a glowing core for you."
Turning around, she faced the anthro and instructed him, "Just place the core over there by the...statue. She should react to it, despite her appearance. " Firmly, she stood aside to let the guardian and core through.
Even at the current pace Zoz continued to observe everything little thing of interest. While he normally wasn't a fan of shiny things, that was due to the fact they all seemed to give him a headache, but not here. Perhaps because the sun wasn't here to set everything off?
The long agonizing trek that he had foreseen turned out to be nothing to worry about as they climbed the few last step to their destination. At first the anthro had to look over the edge to prove that they had really climbed all the way up, but he was quick to follow Em into the final chamber.
The moment his eyes adjusted he noticed a faint glimmer coming from the flawless stone statue perched in the back of the room, but it was only for a moment. Instinctively he pulled the core out from beneath his cloak again to receive a similar reaction. He looked puzzled for a moment before he just shook his head. He didn't have enough energy to think. He just had to follow Em's direction right?
Fishing around in his robe once again, he pulled out the small red cushion the core had come with. He slowly approached the statue, eying it curiously before placing the pillow, and finally the core down in front of it. He backed up again to where Em was an crouched down, hands clasped in front of him as he continued to watch what was about to unfold before him.
For a brief moment they stood there in silence. Even though Crystal's core glowed when they first entered, nothing much seemed to happen after that. Was Crystal...umm...sleeping? She wasn't entirely sure how things worked when someone gets turned to stone.
"Crystal?" She called out loudly. Nothing, still. Frowning slightly, she approached the statue. "Crystal?" She called out once more. Nothing. Em was growing rather anxious. Maybe a tap would help. A light tap on the statue was exactly what she did, but so far no reaction whatsoever. This was rather odd. From the last emergence ceremony Crystal reacted almost instantly.
As the core was placed in front of the stone statue, the black pearl embedded in it's chest glimmered brilliantly. It seemed like there was life within it.
It's been so long...thank you..
And with that, the orange core pulsed with light, each one growing brighter and brighter, until the whole chamber was filled with almost blinding light. It soon grew easier on the eyes, flowing back towards the red pillow in front of the statue and forming a child-like shape.
The voice returned once more just as the light faded, almost as an omen of sorts, before the statue and it's core returned to a slumber.
Take care..Etansel is no longer the safe haven it once was..
The light from the core spread to the dark corners of the room, showing, when the visitors' eyes stopped burning, every detail. The carvings on the walls, and the dust- and a shape that had been crouching behind Crystal, but was staggering backwards, hands over its face. It was dressed in black from head to toe, but judging from the eyes that peeked out from behind black gloves, the person looked human. Humanoid, at least.
It froze for exactly two seconds, then turned and ran, taking a running leap out of the window. It didn't seem to matter to the mysterious stranger that they were several stories up, it simply went through and fell out of sight.
Everything had been so nice and peaceful...and normal. Even Em talking to the stone statue didn't freak him out as much as it should've. The sudden light show caught him off guard and he flailed a bit, falling onto his back side as he watched the core come to life. He found himself squinting with all the light and once it cleared he found himself staring where the core once but no longer sat. Instead he found he was staring into the dark brown eyes of the child that now sat contently on the pillow.
He opened is mouth to speak...various times, but no words would come. The anthro climbed back up to his feet, brushing himself off, but not once did his eyes leave those of the small girl. Blinking curiously he approached the small jumi and was almost there when his eyes caught sight of the unknown visitor. Zoz's eyes were glued to the new figure as it staggered about. When it decided to make a mad dash to the window, Zozma's instincts caused him to give chase, his cloak flailing madly behind him. When the mystery man decided to hop out the window the anthro nearly followed, but stopped, ending up crouched on the window sill as the unknown person disappeared once again into the shadows.
"Fast little bugger...." He mumbled before turning back to Em and the new jumi. He couldn't help but notice with a hint of amusement as the new child watched him curiously, her head tilted to the side slightly. Neither of them seemed to gather the significance of what had just happened, and Zoz was happy that he wasn't the only clueless one for once.
Settling back down he walked up to and sat right down in front of the citrine jumi. They both just stared at each other for moment before the young girl reached out for him. Zozma blinked before he leaned in a bit closer and the child wrapped one small hand around the horn that protruded from underneath his right ear. "Hey hey hey...careful there..." He muttered quietly before pulling the child's hand away. "Don't want you to hurt yourself...or me for that matter..." Still holding onto the girl's hand he used his free hand to scoop her up into his arms as he stood. The young jumi then found another source of amusement...Zoz's unusually long hair.
Turning back to Em he could help but give her a lop-sided grin. "Well this is the start of something interesting..." He spoke, wincing as the child pulled a little too hard.
It all seemed to happen in a flash with a dramatic slow down towards the end. Certainly, it pleased Em to know Crystal was still alive. Not well enough considering her current state, but enough so that she could even bring back the little Jumi in front of her. But then out of nowhere came that ominous warning. What was all that about? Etansel for the longest time was still mostly the deserted city that it was. What could change that and suddenly bring potential danger into the realm? A monster, perhaps?
In the blink of an eye, the humanoid creature not only leaped out from behind but jumped out of a window. Em never counted the flights of stairs, but they were at least five to ten stories high! What was he...she...it thinking? No normal creature could survive a fall that high.
Temporarily she ignored Zozma and the little girl as she ran towards the broken window to survey the area below. Even though the city glowed, the glow wasn't enough to illuminate much from the distance they were at. Too high off to see clearly. It also didn't help that the creature was clad in black, either.
Em with a frown, turned back at the two who seemed to happily get along with one another. While it was nice to see, this place at the moment was probably not the best place for parental or family bonding time. "I don't think...it's safe here anymore. Perhaps it's best if we return to the safe haven of our homes..." But before anything, she wanted to move Crystal to a safer, less obvious place. Who knows what that...thing was after? Or maybe Rena-san could help them, somehow? Even if the chances were slim, maybe she knew something, anything.
Zozma approached the broken window again, this time keeping a safe distance away due to the being he now held protectively in his arms. "Whatever it was is either suicidal, or really good. I don't know many other besides myself who could make that jump without a second thought..." He mumble out loud as he craned his neck to get a good look at the distance. "Well...if we get back down there and there is a huge hole or splat we'll know the answer to that question..."
He turned his head, glancing at the door before turning back to the window. He shifted the young jumi in his arms so she was cradled safely into the nook of his left arm and used his free hand to steer Em away from the window. "Good idea..we should leave in case it has friends...It's getting lat-" He caught himself. "Early anyways." With that he made his way to the door. He stopped, and looked back to the statue, realizing he'd left the ruby colored pillow on the ground in front of it. Walking over he carefully crouched down and scooped the pillow up and handing it to the child curled in his arm. He rose, his gaze lingering on the stone statue for an extra moment longer before retreating to the door again.
Hesitantly she took one more quick glance at the window. It still hadn't fully sunk in quite yet. Such a creature could leap out the window so flawlessly? It had to be a monster...no Jumi or human could possess such strength to do such things. Of course, its intentions were totally unclear at this time, but she doubted it would jump out a window to its own demise so quickly.
"Before we go...Let me move Crystal to a less obvious place." Brown eyes wandered around anxiously. Why hadn't Rena-san moved Crystal from the front door? Perhaps the grief got the better of her, Em speculated.
Quickly pacing over to the statue, she lightly dragged it across the floor to the corner of the room. Even though Crystal was encased in stone, she seemed rather light. At any rate, Em pulled the curtains down so it would at least hide most of Crystal for a brief moment. There weren't many other places to hide the statue, or at least places Em knew of. It would be too troublesome to drag a statue too far.
The emerald Jumi joined the two at the door rather quickly after leaving Crystal behind the curtains. With another brief glance and an exchange of flickering cores, she quickly closed the door behind their small group. When its day out, she would at the very least have to consult with her family about this. Kira-san would not be pleased, but would definitely offer some useful insights in this situation. Afterwards she would have to contact her fellow Jumi friends about this, too.
"Let's hurry. Best not to make our families worry," She nodded firmly as she started to move towards the stairs.

~Returning Home and First Impressions~
It had been early morning by the time they'd made it back home. They'd parted ways with the kind green-haired girl about 10 minutes ago, after she'd given her furry guardian strict directions. That seemed silly. Why would someone need instructions on finding their own house?
She hadn't said anything though, still in a haze and exhausted from everything going on. She'd even drifted in and out on their way back on a few occasions.
They'd crept in quietly, passing through the kitchen where they'd come across a young woman asleep with her arms sprawled across the counter serving as a pillow for her head. The furry one had merely sighed and ruffled her hair before we continued on. She felt him chuckle lightly as she mumbled nonsense in her sleep as they left.
They'd retired to what she thought must've been his quarters. A large room with the giant bookcases on either wall, a couch back against the far one, and a desk dead center. She couldn't see anything in the pitch black though and was curious as her carried navigated them flawlessly to the desk and clicked the lamp on. It'd shrouded the room in a dull glow, just enough to make out where everything was, before he'd settled them both on the couch.
She yawned, finally fed up with her curiosity obstructing her sleep and crawled over to curl up against his side. He tensed at first, startled at the gesture but she didn't seem to notice. It had only taken a few minutes for her to drift off to dreamland, but just before she did she could feel him drape an arm over her in a protective manner as he relaxed, and then she was out.
***********
She'd been awake before the mayhem had started, apparently the furry one hadn't been so lucky. It could've been early still, or maybe not as it was impossible to tell with the lack of windows in the room. Like a green hurricane she'd barreled in, caring not as to how much noise she'd made. Citani had barely registered it as the woman whom they'd found asleep on the kitchen counter last night before she knelt down in front of her with a smile.
"G'moring, Tani-chan~"
The young jumi stared at her, clearly confused as to how the woman had known her name. Yet she found herself returning the greeting all the same. "Good morning, Miss."
The woman had smiled again. "Just call me Asellus dear, everyone else does." She'd offered her hand to younger girl. "I've come to save you from this gloomy place and it's inhabitant." She winked. "We need to get you set up in a room of your own."
Citani couldn't help but return the contagious smile. She looked at the offered gesture and looked back up to Zozma for approval. He'd just rolled his eyes at his master's behavior and encouraged her by placing his hand on her back and nudging her forward. "Okay then..." With a shy smile she took the older woman's hand and let her lead them out of the dark room.
She was going on her first adventure!

~What the.....Why are the eggs gone?~
It was given to her, as a test of responsibility. She hadn't like many kids, begged for a pet, but Asellus had suggested it regardless. Everyone needed to learn responsibility and respect for life (Zozma had scoffed at this point) and what better way to teach then to turn the bizarre blue egg that she'd found one morning, over to the young girl.
Citani had taken the test in stride, keeping an eye on the delicate egg and making sure it was within arm's reach at all times. When dusk fell and it was time for bed, she kept it close by on her night stand, nestled in the small red and gold tasseled pillow she had kept. So far everything had gone smoothly.
Today had been no different.
She'd gotten up with the sun as per usual, curling up amongst her pillows with her book. She'd gotten a few chapters of reading done before the other occupants of the house started to wake up, the whole house coming alive with sounds. She'd yet to meet any of the house's illusive residents, usually keeping to her room until the sounds quieted and everyone was out on their own for the day. Only then did she make her way to the kitchen for breakfast.
Asellus had whipped them both up some brunch (It was getting close to noon) and she'd spent a majority of the afternoon chatting with the older woman. Retreating back to her own room for the night she replaced the egg on it's pillow (The egg hadn't left her side all day) and climbed back up into her bed for a few more chapters before she drifted off to sleep.
*****************
She'd woken up late, that much was apparent as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and took a look out her window and the sun was high, almost noon. She sat up abruptly, surprised she'd slept so long and was quick to scurry out of and make her bed. Hastily she changed from her night close and was about to make her way downstairs when she reached for the egg (An act that had become almost habitual by now) and found nothing but air.
Citani felt a bolt of panic as she shuffled around her belongings on the small table looking for the precious egg. Not finding it she dropped to her knees to check the floor, blindly reaching and groping underneath the table and her bed, but she still came up empty-handed. "Oh...nononono..." She fretted only to muffled her squeak of surprise at the sudden knock at her door.
"Oh Citani~ Dear are you in there? You didn't come down for breakfast so I decided to play bellhop for the day~" She'd clearly heard the younger girl moving about inside because she opened the door, the tray of food balanced precariously in one hand. She must have been startled by finding the young child on the floor because she quickly set the tray down and was at her side in an instant.
"The egg is missing! I put it right on the pillow like I do every night, only it's gone!" The small jumi continued to panic, not wanting to look up and see disappointment on the woman's face.
The only expression she had was a puzzled expression as she pursed her lips, suddenly lowering her head to the ground to begin looking underneath stuff. She knew the jumi would not lie. If she had put it where she said then something must've happened to it.
They'd spent the rest of the day looking for the lost egg, roping Zoz into their search not more than an hour in. Eventually though they all turned in for bed with Asellus promising that it could wait until they were all rested. After all it was just an egg and eggs couldn't just get up and walk away....
...right....?
