Just the other day I went to Big Lots to get some stuff for my apartment and was completely shell-shocked to find anime there.
There was the typical stuff like YuGiOh and Pokemon, those didn't surprise me at all but then there was also Cowboy Bebop, Saber Marionette, and Dragon Drive, plus a couple others.
The price?
$3.99
as compared to the typical $25-$30 you find in most stores or even the $10-$15 found on eBay.
Sure, there were less than 10 different series in all and the volumes were all out of order, but still the DVDs were factory sealed, etc. And according to the guy at the register they get anime in every couple months and it's always something different!
I heart Big Lots!

I've also seen anime sold at BJ's as well.... they had a massive amount of them being sold and half price.... I didn't have the cash at the time, but a few of my friends went all out and bought as many as they could.

I have found that half price books near my home is having a lot of manga/amime. There must be several avid readers as I am finding entire sets.
