~That's obsidian, sweetheart~
Good god. Must they always go fishing on my birthday? I hate the stuff and they make me go with them every time! I thought birthday were about celebrating and giving people things that they went. I guess my family missed the memo then, because I never do or get either. “Come on, Paen! Mom just caught a bass!” And I care why..?
Giving up, Paen walked along the bank of the lake, heading in the opposite direction of his family, only to be chased after by Isdra, his adopted daughter. “Papa!” She called, attempting to jump off a rock much too large for he to jump off. As she as she had launched herself off the stone, Paen was there catching her and telling her not to do anything stupid like that again. “But… I found a pretty stone!”
Paen uncurled the child’s hand from around the said stone to look at it. The rock looked faintly like black glass because it was extremely glossy on the surface. “That’s obsidian, sweetheart.” Sighing he watched as the girl ignored him to go see the fish his sister had just caught. He shoved the rock into this pocket and sighed, knowing he stunk at fishing. I wish I could catch some fish that would make my family stop bugging me to fish with them, since I hate it.
