I take my previous post back. Mai-Otome was created while the people at Sunrise were high and tarding-out. I was really excited to see a sequel series but it was just a big let down.

I actually quite liked Otome, to be honest. I went into it not expecting anything other than light fluff- I'd read several reviews that advised this.. and I really enjoyed it. I guess it doesn't have the character development and all the other stuff that makes HiME awesome, but all in all, it's still funny, silly.. fluff.
AWESOME soundtrack, as to be expected. Nifty (mostly >_> wink Robes, and an older and hotter Shizuru and Natsuki ... ._. (or maybe that one was just me)
Some of the things I didn't like were;
Arika.
Arika.
Arika being the real princess.
Oh, and Arika.
Other than that I found it standable. *shrugs*

I thought Otome was cool. But their thighs were huge.

To be honest...I actually enjoyed Mai Otome more then HiME...does that make me weird? lol!

I should update my posts. The last opinion I had on this was in 2006. : D
I prefer HiME over Otome simply because I like the action and slaughter stuff. : D HiME also had the kind of characters it was easy to emphasize with. I just wish HiMEs has fought more themselves, instead of using their Childs. Also, if the ending episode had been not so "wehehehee-happy-go-lucky-supacool-nobody-dies-woohooo!!!", Mai-HiME would get the score of A+.
However, I do like Otome because of its new world, with nice technology and fantastic clothing. The whole idea of a hired Otome protecting her master is also awesome, and Otomes doing the fights themselves was cool. I just wish the main character was more tolerable. I feel no sympathy for her.

In my opinion, Mai HiME is a better anime over Mai Otome, but as for the manga I think Mai Otome was a better manga. Anyone else argee with me?
