I don't discriminate. I know a couple girl drummers and they are good at what they do. As long as you've got the beat, the wrists, and the creativity, you can be an awesome drummer. mrgreen

It's probably just because girls in general don't play drums so people think they can't. It does seems more of a "guy" thing on the face of it.
It shouldn't matter if you're a male or female percussionist, but it does-- there are only 6 female percussionists in my high school of over 500, and I am the only one in my grade. There are over 20 males. A lot of girls I knew started percussion, but quit because there were only a few- or no- girls in their percussion section.
Percussion really is percieved as a "guy" thing-- I often get dirty looks when i'm playing snare or marimba in a piece and a guy is playing the triangle.
