It’s time for the drama club to present their play for the autumn season! This semester, they’ve decided to present The Taming of the Shrew, a Shakespearean comedy they hope will distract everyone from the disaster that was the summer semester’s rendition of Saw: The Musical. But with autumn comes the flu and cold season, and not everyone’s prepared for the changing temperatures.

A week before showtime, key cast members have fallen ill. As such, some drama club members have taken up these roles at the last minute in case the original cast members can’t fulfill their roles in time…

Rules

1: No god-modding or questionably OP ocs.

2: Please be respectful of others’ work/life schedules. Life happens, and we should respect it.

3: As this is a slice of life/modern au, please refrain from adding in anything fantasy or sci-fi.

4: Any other ocs related to the oc chosen to be in this rp can only be mentioned; they cannot be present in the rp or act. Family Guy-like cut away flashbacks are fine so long as they’re short and relevant to the scene.

5: You are allowed to copy/paste excerpts from the shakespeare play, and can even take inspiration from different plays/movies. You don’t have to watch the same play/movies; it will help add to the chaos/anxiety the ocs will have when trying to get this play done.

6: Don’t be afraid to communicate with each other; the more we communicate, the more fluid this rp will be and the closer we will grow as a family.

7: We will roll to determine turns, and will reply based on turns to keep it fair for everyone. *

8: Respect boundaries set by others, ask if you’re unsure about something. Do not try to brute force romance or rivalries or nemeses; these should be discused beforehand.

* Writers’ Block happens, as do scenes where a character may not be needed to speak. For these scenarios, please discuss with the others to possibly skip you or help with your response.

Roles

Within the world of theater, it takes various roles working together to bring a play to life. But to keep things simple, there will only be roles to choose from due to how often these roles interact and how close they’d be around during practices/rehearsals.

The roles are as follows:

Cast (minor role): this role would be part of the play, but acting as a background or minor character.

Set Designer: this role is mostly in charge of constructing/painting set pieces and backdrops, as well as working with the director to map out a scene in terms of where certain pieces go.

Costume Designer: this role is in charge of costumes, either creating new clothes or altering/mending older costumes. They would also be helping actors change in and out of their costumes.

Stage Hand: this role is in charge of miscellaneous tasks, such as opening/closing the curtains, moving/adding/removing set pieces, and changing backdrops to name a few.
