"Ugh," Arete managed while she shuffled her weight off her hurt leg and onto her other side, still sprawled in the dirt where she had originally fallen. They had been on one of Arete's daily walks when a snake slithered between Lyrais' legs, causing the young filly to flail, and accidentally kick Arete in the ankle— hard. Gone Lyrais had went, neighing and screeching into the forest around them, leaving Arete to grapple with how fast everything had happened. To her, they had just been walking, and then Lyrais became a flurrying whirlwind of motion. It was only when the snake sheepishly slithered past Arete did it make sense, but it didn't give her many options. She still had to get somehow upright, and Ouranos had left for the evening in his continued pursuit of tracking down Lyrais' family.
"Apollo, what am I going to do?" She questioned the skies with a low, whine of a sigh. Her ankle would eventually relent enough to let her stand soon, right?

This trip through the forest was actually a failed attempt to try to escape these voices. Unfortunately, they just followed… or she could just hear them from wherever. A sigh escapes Calanthe’s nostrils, shaking her head as she did her best to ignore it. Then, she had to stop when one voice seemed louder than the others. It was asking Apollo what they were going to do. That’s a weird last thing to say... She thought to herself. With a tilt of her head, she curiously turns and heads in the direction the voice came from. Eventually, she came across another mare lying on the ground, and it seemed they were very much alive. … Thank the Dieities. Getting a little closer, her head tilts in question. “… Are you alright?”

If Arete had been paying attention, she would have seen the mare, but she had not been. Instead, she had turned to scrunching her eyes shut and praying to her god for any form of help, and soon! The approaching mare had enough time to reach Arete's side and question her, prompting a quick, startled gasp from the fallen hippoi as she twitched back to reality and snapped her head to face the newcomer.
Thank the deities!
"Y-yes! Oh, I'm so glad to see someone. Can you please help me up? I hurt my ankle and can't brace my weight on it to stand, but I really need to get off the floor." Eager and appreciative, Arete shifted her weight, hoping to make it easier for the mare. "Did you see a foal nearby at all?
