"No gender at all should also be valid," offered Michelangelo, supportively. It honestly reminded him of conversations he had with his sibling. Brother? Parent. "Does gender even have a meaning to me? What the ******** does this s**t mean--"
"Look, let's try to break this down.""Don't have to agree with any of those gender things. There's being agender, too -- my not-sibling and I discovered that while trying to figure out what felt right to them." Michelangelo shot her a grin. "Maybe it's what feels right for you?" At Sadie's shifting, Michelangelo compensated, moving to wrap his arms around her midsection instead to bring her a bit closer. He wasn't exactly tall enough to envelop her in any way, but all the same-- Six siblings. His eyes widened, because honestly he couldn't even imagine a family quite that big. He nodded at familiarity with the teen pregnancy, and couldn't help curiosity about the semi-open case -- "Did you ever meet your bio parents, or has that never felt important?" The heartbrokenness, the lack of knowledge, it was rough. He was fortunate that he never got taken away from his parent fully, even if he called them bro most of the time while growing up. Felt odd to realize that was part of what created him instead. "Yeah, they're still around. They live elsewhere, near my grandparents' property. It will eventually passed down to them, thing is they're the only child, so they never really saw a point of moving too far." And Michelangelo was the only child of an only child -- "Glad they have their own place though. They need the room to breathe." Michelangelo paused. "Which, yes, does mean I'm alone on my property. It feels... Unnecessarily large sometimes," and unnecessarily empty, "but I like hosting people and parties and places to crash."

"Agender?" Sadie considered this. It was another label, but they didn't twitch at the sound of it. Maybe that was because it sounded like aromantic and asexual, which were labels that they already knew the sounds of inside and out, that they already were comfortable with, that they already used to help define themself. "Maybe. If that's what it means, no gender at all? That sounds, um," they squinted, "That's how I feel, I think." They were still at the point where they didn't immediately cling to it, but it was a thought, something to keep around. "It doesn't feel wrong," they said, after a full five seconds of swirling it around in their head, and that was more than they could say about most other labels in that department. "We were only allowed to send cards when I was little," she told him. "After I turned eighteen, I did have lunch with my bio mom, just the once. It was-" she shrugged, glancing at the kitchen in the distance, but only blankly, "Like meeting a stranger? She had her own life, I had mine." There were still cards, but they were hardly close. "Your parent, though? They sound like a stranger I would want to meet, maybe. It seems like we already have a few things in common." Although if they did meet, hopefully there would be more that they shared than labels, because those only went so far.

"Yeah, no gender at all," confirmed Michelangelo, easily, as Sadie spent the time letting the word percolate in her head. He, in the interim, found himself resting his head against her back. When she confirmed that it didn't feel wrong, he followed that up with, "Think about it. You don't have to use the word if you don't want to, but I think it does describe what you're describing." And if she had an easy way to tell people what she was, maybe it would help in the same way knowing he was demiromantic did. Sadie could have people who would identify with that word itself and maybe even be that word. If that helped her, then he'd like to use the knowledge he had picked up over the years to help. She had her life, and I had mine sounded like something he sympathized with. He'd never known who his other parent was, other than all parental rights had gotten signed over to his not-sibling and to protect her privacy said not-sibling never told him who she was. It was something Michelangelo had never been particularly pressed about, so he never really felt the desire to ask about it. "Suppose I'd have a similar experience if I ever met my ... mom?" His brows knit. "Sometimes that reconnection never really happens, but I think it's worth a shot, at least. I'm glad you two were able to exchange cards though." Even if they weren't close, it was still a way to keep a tab on what the other was doing, at least. "I think you do have a few things in common for sure! They're a lot more hot-tempered than you, but," Michelangelo laughed, "they're pretty good at just letting that manifest as steam out of their ears or really impassionated ranting." Plus, it wasn't like they had any motivation to go out and commit violence... "I'll see if I can talk them out of their shell to come meet some of the friends I've been making."

"Okay," said Sadie, once again, more focused on the fact that she liked the warmth of Michelangelo against her back than she was on trying out the label. It would take time, a week or so, but eventually, Michelangelo would get a text from her, one that just said I'm agender, and then moved on. The description of his parent had her lips twitching up in an almost amused smile. "I don't mind firey types," she told him. Maybe t would seem like she wanted to surround herself with people who were as calm as she was, and while that could work, as shown by the way the two of them were nearly melted into a puddle together, breathing slowly and sharing their experiences, it could be nice w hen she was around those who were different from her, too. She understood, when people got angry. She might try to encourage them to express it in a certain way, but that was all. "If you can ever get them out, I'm curious, like I said." She happened to glance towards the kitchen at that point. "Oh, I think the food's ready," she murmured.

And in a week and a few more minutes, when he received that text message, she would receive a supportive message, a heart emoji, and a gif of a waving agender flag. Like that, what she was to herself had a word to it, and they both knew of it and moved on from it. Like good friends and boytoys did. The concept that she didn't mind the firey types actually took him by surprise, and his brows rose slightly. He supposed he was used to how similar their tendencies were, preferring to relax and just be close with friends and talk serious discussions while enjoying cuddles or loganberry wine, and didn't quite think that they were similar in that other way, too. Were Michelangelo's favorite people usually relaxed like him? Yes. Was his not-sibling close to him despite all of his personality differences, and it wasn't just their relation to each other? Also yes. Michelangelo generally liked people, and so long as they weren't cruel or had abhorrent views he got along with most people. Sometimes, that included people with wildly different attitudes than his own. "I'll see if I can talk them into it," said Michelangelo, with a laugh. "One of us got all the extraversion so one of us had to be more private." But Sadie was close to him, so it wasn't like she was am unknown commodity-- Wait, food? Michelangelo grinned. "I feel like I've been looking forward to this all day." And in some ways he had been. "Let's go get some." Once they untangled from each other, Michelangelo would easily move to the kitchen, taking the opportunity of none of Luke's children around to meld into him and wrap his arms around his waist. He asked, "So what do you got for us?" that almost came out as a purr. When Luke, while blushing mildly, told him what was made, Michelangelo grinned and unwrapped himself to turn around to Sadie. "Think we're gonna eat pretty good tonight." stari_maga fin! [ i asked Ama what Luke would do and got permission to make reference to it here! ]
