The zamphirs long ago realized that despite having all of the power of the vampires they hunt it was still smarter to hunt in packs, or tribes. There was more safety in numbers, not to mention they could employ much more elaborate and clever trapping and killing mechanisms if there were more members to participate. The tribes started out as loose associations of zamphirs with common goals and grew into large family-oriented tribes. Membership in a tribe is loose, requiring no real "joining" ceremony. One can simply wander into a zamphir tribe and start helping out and be accepted easily. One can leave just as easily. The tribe system is more proximity-based than anything else, though if a member acts extremely counter to the tribe's moral code or rules they can be cast out (usually violently).

The main point of the tribe is to have a community to help hunt vampires as well as protect the children and weaker members in the home of the tribe. It's not uncommon in any tribe for members to attain ranks and remain in their day jobs at home instead of spending all of their time hunting. This isn't seen as laziness or cowardice, but as taking on the mantel of protecting the home of the tribe, and thus these members are still highly respected. Vampires are smart and powerful. It would be foolish to have all skilled warriors gone at any one time, so it's equally important that strong fighters remain at home. Because of this, everyone in the tribe is encouraged to attain ranks and skills and mentoring is a common practice in all tribes.

The unifying drive for all the zamphir tribes is a hatred of vampires and desire to cleanse the world of their filth, so it's possible (and more common than you think!) for members of other races to join the cause, and the tribes. While zamphirs do NOT go around telling others about vampires (can't break that masquarade!) it is common enough for others to learn of vampires on their own and seek out the zamphirs' help. Some stay and dedicate themselves to the cause, or fall in love and create a family. Others thank the zamphirs for their help and are on their way. Zamphirs are very accepting of all mortals, particularly because they are trying so hard to protect them from the vampire menace.

Ranks - taken from temple. Should be reworked a little to fit the tribes more than just the goddess' servants

Darkstalker power comparable to vampire Methuselah

This is the equivalent of a High Priest(ess), and this title is sometimes used to refer to the darkstalkers. You are moved to the closest room to the goddess' personal chamber. You are an adviser, the highest part of the Court. To get here you must have proven yourself worthy to the Goddess. You must be an adept huntress, and a clever fighter. You must be intelligent and creative in your endeavors and prove yourself against your fellow zamphirs in battle.

You are highest in the goddess' favor and are granted extra strength, heightened senses, and one special ability to be agreed upon.

Hunter power comparable to vampire Elder

Sometimes also referred to as priest(ess). You are moved to a larger room in the wing of the temple closest to the goddess, but your room is in the outer portion. You are part of the Court, and the goddess has her eye on you. This is the highest honor a non-zamphir can achieve.

Adept power comparable to vampire Ancillae

Your privileges are increased. The goddess may even allow you in her presence for more than a few minutes, though that's doubtful. Your responsibilities in the temple are greeting and guiding newcomers and patrons tot he temple and instructing those beneath you.

Neophyte power comparable to vampire neonate

So you've impressed her! Congratulations! You have been awarded better rooms and better treatment, but you are still a lowly mortal. The Goddess will likely never appear to you personally, though she may send one of her bat attendants if she feels so inclined. You must clean the common areas of the temple and assist in anything those above you ask.

Whelp power comparable to vampire fledgling

This is but the beginning level of your service. The goddess has taken a shine to you, but you have a long way to go to become her favored. Your jobs keep you largely out of the public eye in the temple. You clean the private rooms and chambers of the other zamphir. You are lowly even to those zamphir above you. Hazing is common. You may be challenged to battle by those above you - both for instruction and for your insolence.

Unranked power comparable to clanless vampire
