Now instead of there simply being two drunk, unconscious teenagers collapsed at Jadarite's feet, there were two drunk unconscious teenagers and a single beautiful unconscious senshi.

The senshi's starseed was cradled loosely in the fingers of one hand while Jadarite scrolled through her tablet with the other. She could have sent it off to subspace, she supposed, but it was quite a prize, and she wanted to admire it for a few moments more.

She was trying to check the database for any mentions of this woman before she made the final decision to either kill her or bring her over, but it wasn't like she'd gotten a name, so she was having to scroll through the entries individually instead of being able to search anything.

She was so caught up in her research, as well as her victory, that she did not notice the approaching aura, strong as it might be.

She was late.

There was something very... General-like in the way that Siegfried stalked the alleyways around their meeting spot. Shoulders hunched, teeth bared, weapon flashing in the light of the streetlamps. He was caught up in the hunt, in the absolute fury that surged through his veins.

She was late and Siegfried couldn't sense her aura, anywhere.

He'd already beat up two leutienants and an unfortunate Dark Mirror Senshi in his search for her. (They'd be fine, just some bruises, he wasn't a monster). Anything Chaotic in nature was getting a crosshairs on their back. He caught a lingering aura, weaker than him but not by much, and turned down an alley he hadn't gotten to yet.

The blade was at the Captain's throat the moment Siegfried saw Albireo on the ground... and the starseed in the woman's hands.

"Captain.... you will put that starseed back in it's place, or I will end your miserable excuse for a life right here, right now," he said, voice deathly calm. Sieg should probably feel more things about threatening murder as a Knight, but at the moment, he rather didn't care.

He'd have some choice words for Albireo as well, when this was all over.

Metal. Against her throat.

The cold feeling of it was such a shock that her fingers uncurled out of instinct. She fumbled for her pen and caught it, but the starseed slipped out of her hand, bounced harmlessly, and began to roll down the sidewalk.

A moment ago it had been her treasured prize, but with a sword to her neck, that suddenly didn't matter nearly so much. When did Knights even have swords? Weren't they supposed to have weak ancient artifacts and a little magic?

Jadarite coughed once. Of course she summoned her axe, but she was at a terrible angle to do anything with it.

Then, she blinked. She squinted. She began to laugh. "Is this thing even sharp?" she asked, because from what she could feel it was not. His threat was quickly losing teeth. She kicked backwards.

He saw red as Albireo's soul went rolling down the alley. She kicked at him, but he was stronger and faster, and he went to sweep her other leg out from under her while she was unsteady. Siegfried was well aware his blade was not sharp, even more so aware his magic was not built for offense. He might have threatened her with his cutlass first, but that was not what he'd used to kill her with. His hands, maybe her own weapon. Siegfried shoved her away, just in case the sweep had missed, and shot down the alley to gently grab the starseed.

"I do not need my cutlass to kill you, Captain," he said through his teeth, free hand cradling his wife's soul against his chest. He was going to shackle this to her body somehow, he swore to Cosmos. Once she was home. Once the Captain was dealt with.

"Leave if you want to continue living, Captain. I will not tell you again," he said, stalking forward towards her again, cutlass at the ready.

It was possible that he was telling the truth about killing her. He was fast. She toppled as he swept her feet out and found herself landing on her knees with a sharp gasp. It was also possible that he was bluffing about some things, the way that he had been with the blade.

She was trying to do split second calculations of the risks of staying compared to the potential rewards of continuing to fight, when he finally managed to drop the starseed back into the senshi's chest and a slash of anger cut through all that.

That had been hers. It was meant to be hers.

When the senshi woke up, she'd be outnumbered, but with luck she'd have a few moments before that happened.

In one last attempt to salvage the situation, Jadarite sprang up and slashed out at him with the axe.

Albireo was getting…pretty good at waking up after having her starseed taken and returned. But the fact that it had been returned obviously meant that…Siegfried had come, or at least…

She forced her eyes open and saw him, feeling her shoulders relax, though they tensed again as she saw the Captain coming right for her husband with her axe ready to slice off his head.

Oh. Oh Hell no.

Scrambling to her feet, Albireo shoved Siegfried out of the way of the Captain’s weapon, feeling a searing pain on her side.

It…was fine. She was fine. She wouldn’t let him be hurt. Couldn’t let him be hurt. Her husband was one of the two most important people in the world to her, and she couldn’t allow either of them to be hurt when and if she could prevent it.

Her head swiveled to the Captain, face pale and eyes filled with the pain of the blow and betrayal. “I don’t understand. I was ready to give you energy, I wasn’t asking anything, I didn’t want to fight you!”

It wasn’t fair. The fact that someone could be that horrible, could just…

Albireo had hoped so badly that they could have been friends.

Time slowed and Siegfried was a way of several things at once. One, Albireo's soul found its home again. Two, the captain was making a last ditch effort to salvage the situation. Three, the world shifted as he was pushed out of the way.

By Albireo.

Who took a full axe blade to the side.

Albireo. Albi. Livi. His wife. Livi Livi Livi Livi

Siegfried howled in rage and lunged forward and grabbed Albireo before she fell, pulling her into his side and locking her in place with his arm. He felt the warmth stickiness of her blood against his hand and glared daggers at the Captain. It was going to stain the bright white of her fuku. Yet his words were for Albireo, low and full of deadly rage.

"Be quiet, Albireo, you've done enough for one night." HIs silver eyes locked with Jadarite, even as a shimmer of ocean water began to flow over his form, the symbol of Neptune flaring to life on his cutlass as he channeled his aspect almost reflectively. "Last. Warning. Go."

He would kill her if she tried attacking again. Hell, at this point, the Captain was on his s**t list. He would neither be kind nor merciful with her the next time they met.

Not only was the senshi awake, she was moving quickly. In an unexpected shift, she was pushing the knight out of the way, and Jadarite's axe sank into her side, instead.

Not that Jada had any qualms about hurting her, but she would have rather injured the stronger target.

She hissed and stepped back as some sort of blue light began washing over the knight. She wasn't sure what effect it would have, but she no longer felt much like it would be worth it at all to stay around and find out. With this Albireo awake, the odds were quickly stacking more and more against her, and she could see from their actions that these two were especially protective of each other.

At least she'd have something interesting to report at the next team meeting, she thought.

She clicked her tongue twice, shook her head, and then teleported away.

Albireo let out a relieved breath when she felt the Captain vanish. Safe. They were both safe. Both alive. She might be in some pain but…it wasn’t awful. She didn’t think she was going to die from it…the axe was small, so it couldn't be that bad. “Sieg? You good? Are…the kids, are they okay? Do you know if they’re breathing? Can you check? She said that she only took energy but…I mean. She wasn’t very trustworthy, so…”

She forced a smile and tried to move away from his grip, wanting to make sure that the cut wasn’t deep. Or…wasn’t deeper than she thought. It didn’t even seem to be bleeding all that much anymore…but. She could be imagining it.

Twisting slightly, Albireo looked down at the six inch cut in her bodice, a few inches below her armpit going to just below her right breast, about six inches in length. Well, that wasn’t so bad. It wouldn’t be too obvious if…well. When it scarred. And she was still alive, so that was what mattered.

“...I’m glad you came for me, you know…”

Oof…she hoped he wasn’t too angry…

Albireo was speaking but Siegfried did not hear her, not really. He was focused on feeling the captain's aura fading away as she teleported out, and made sure nothing else came up. He flicked his eyes to the unconscious kids for a brief moment. Albireo tried to move away from him, but his arm was locked like a vice. He turned her in his grip, eyeing the six inch gash from armpit to breast. It didn't seem to be bleeding anymore, and did not seem particularly deep upon inspection. Would need stitches though.

"Power down," he commanded, the mantle of Siegfried not dropping until hers did. "You need stitches. We're going to the nearest urgent care. Then we're going home."

His temper rose and he clenched his jaw to force it back down. He simply grabbed Livi's hand and walked her out of the alley.

Olivia huffed, doing as he said and powering down. She wanted to protest, wanted to insist that she was fine, but. He was upset, so she didn’t argue. “All right, Tavi. That’s fine.” Her voice was quiet and she went with him, still a little wobbly from the loss of her starseed and from the cut but.

But this would be fine. She had survived yet again…and so long as he didn’t tell Cybele…that would be great. But…ugh. He would fuss…and he would worry. She swallowed and fell in step behind her husband. It shouldn’t take too long to get the stitches and then they could go home…and maybe she could persuade Tavi to stop on the way to get a milkshake or something…that…

Sounded like a fair end to a pretty rotten evening.
