The only thing that Pendour knew to compare it to was when she'd reached out, desperate, for Caedus's starseed. Energy had been thick in the air, then, tearing through her body down to her bones, leaving her arms pockmarked with scars like stars. This was like that, except it only burned her skin.
Still, it burned, Jet and her alike, and Pendour shot a pained look back to Encke.
At least Jet vanished. He taunted, but Pendour had grown a thick skin for that. He summoned youma, but Pendour had a strategy that she always used for youma.
She ran as far away from them as possible, and she tried not to think about them because they made her heart hurt.
Whirling around, she reached for Encke's hand as she broke into a sprint, again, a faster sprint than she'd ever managed before. "Come on," she murmured to him, breathless. "Let's go. Let's just go."
