Kat's Ether Gear allows her to create a Charge of energy within her hands. The charge can simply recharge machines or technology with a low battery for example. But on a greater scale, she can amplify the capabilities of a device with her Charge. A dim flashlight with a Charge can emit a brighter beam of light! Robots and Androids could perform at twice capacity with higher processing power. Additionally, she can use this power on people, amplifying their physical attributes. Lastly, her Ether Gear can be used on the Ether Gear of others, doubling their power or effects! She can apply a Charge to a target more than once, tripling the power on some occasions. Her Charge creates a visible sparking glow on her hands; however, it is harmless to the touch. Although, it is conductive, meaning she can send and direct her Charge through metal or water. Anything touching the metal or water is affected by her Charge.

[✧] Her Ether Gear requires a warm-up before it can be used. She cannot simply create a Charge on command. From the moment she activates her Ether Gear, the Charge is primed in her hands. It takes a short duration (3 posts) to create a Charge, but once it is ready, she can freely use it as she sees fit. That is, after she touches the target she wishes to charge. She must make physical contact with her target or utilize it through its conductivity. While her Charge can boost the abilities of those it affects, it is only temporary and ends after a few (5 posts). Receiving a second Charge can triple those abilities; however, a second Charge places a serious strain on the afflicted. The time limit is not extended and when it ends, the afflicted will feel exhaustion. If a third Charge were to be received, the target would immediately be Overcharged, causing them to "crash" and lose all Charge. Robots, machines and robots will temporarily (1 post) shut down. Humans would become immobilized for the same duration. Ether Gear affected would cease to function for a moment (3 posts). Unfortunately, Kat cannot make use of her own Charge to amplify her physical attributes.

[✧] In the Sakura Cosmos is a planet called Quintessa where only humans live. This is due to them being the only race that can tolerate the planet's atmosphere and ecosystem. It has one sun and two moons, at least one moon being present at all times. The crops and water here are full of nutrients and promote good health. Perhaps due to the planet itself, the humans that live here are considered to be at the peak of human condition by scientific definition. The Quintessians consider themselves to be "perfect" because of this, idolizing perfection and abhorring anything less. They live lavish lifestyles and hardly ever leave their perfect planet. Their greatest export is their water, marketed as Q-Water. While not safe to drink for non-humans, it promotes plant life and helps create nutrient rich food on other planets without the harmful effects to other races. On this planet, Nicole Rutherford was born to her perfect parents, Trent and Morgan Rutherford. They had finally decided to bring a child into the world after a year of planning and preparing in advance. The parents were so excited to meet their baby...only to learn that she was not so perfect. She was born smaller than the average Quintessian. As Nicole grew up, she remained small and a burden to her parents. She was imperfect- a reject of her own race. Her parents were ashamed to have her and wanted nothing to do with her. Nicole was too young to understand everything at the age of 4, but she could tell people were somehow upset with her, including her parents. She decided to do something nice for them and created a picture of her and her parents holding hands. Decorated with various colors, frills and glitter, she created an apology card in the shape of a heart. With the picture in hand, she entered their room anxiously but hopeful. "Mommy? Daddy? I made this...for yo-!" BANG! It was around this time her parents had finally decided to get rid of their "mistake", having had enough of the ridicule from their peers. Her father had drawn a gun as she entered the room and quite abruptly shot her in the head. The child was then stuffed into a small pod, wearing nothing but a nightgown with a cartoon cat's face on it. This pod was usually meant for garbage disposal, but she was small enough to fit. She was jettisoned from the ship and sent hurtling to the waste planet of Junkterra, the child's body being tossed every which way. This is where Nicole Rutherford's story ends…
The girl who miraculously survived such an injury would awaken to a flood of light pouring into her pod. A robot had pried her pod open, surprised to see the barely conscious and injured girl. She fainted before she could say anything and next awoke in a dimly lit room with her wound dressed. Aside from a headache, she felt fine and she would tell the robot who soon appeared the same. He expressed concern that she would die when he found her and brought her here to be treated. The one that treated her was a floating pink Droid with long arms named Daisy- formerly a nurse robot. Gus was the one who found her and was relieved to see her ok, as was another that entered the room. This one was an Android named Bleue who was something of a leader among the group. She asked the child who she was only for the girl to realize she couldn't remember anything. Bleue assumed the girl's name was "Kat with a 'K' because she has a cat on her shirt and the 'K' makes it a human name". Everyone collectively agreed and so she was Kat. With nowhere else to go, she was invited to stay with them as long as she wanted. Over time, Kat would learn there weren't any other humans around- just trash, robots and dust. But at least she wasn't alone! She got to learn more about her friends as they showed her how to survive on the planet. Gus used to be a fuel station robot and would store fuel in his body. He got along with the fuel station attendant into his old age- they were good friends! But when he passed, his son took over and got rid of Gus for a newer model. Daisy was a nurse robot for a hospital and valuable assistant for the doctors. But one day she went on the fritz and developed a problem of suddenly shutting off, so she was sent away. And Bleue was an android that worked at a mall, acting as a guide and singing songs. But a disgruntled customer attacked her, cracking her delicate features. She didn't quite function the same after that and there were complaints that she "looked creepy" leading to her expulsion. Here on Junkterra, people threw away their trash that they didn't want anymore. Kat wondered if she too was thrown away, though her new friends would assure her otherwise. "Someone out there is missing you! I'm sure of it!" Bleue would reassure her.
Kat would spend most of her day out exploring the area with Gus, looking for anything of interest, like the day he found her. The bot was really strong and sturdy, keeping her safe and lifting heavy objects. Because he was so big and she was so small, she often rode on his shoulder. Kat found all kinds of interesting things in her outings that she would bring back to show Daisy and Bleue. Daisy would teach her to read the books she would find and how to write as well. Despite her tendency to "nod off" she was a great teacher, getting the little girl to a reading and writing level well above her age. Bleue on the other hand, tended to the girl's survival, going out of her way to find food and making it edible. The Android was by far the more nurturing of her friends, asking about her day, making sure she was okay and singing to her to sleep every night. Since Kat couldn't remember her actual birthday, Bleue had everyone celebrate the day they found Kat as her birthday. Every day she spent with her friends, the less she worried about being abandoned. Eventually, she stopped thinking about it all together- she had a family right where she was. The years went on, Kat getting bigger and smarter with each passing day. She had taken a keen interest in machines and technology, wanting to help her friends as much as they'd helped her. This way she was able to keep up with their maintenance and improve them. Fixing things around their abode, they eventually got access to TV and internet! From there, her skills and knowledge would only improve. It would lead to her next fascination in flying, seeing the spaceships in pictures and media. Kat began working on making her own vehicles to help in her exploration of the planet.
At the age of 10, Kat would finally build her own land speeder using parts she found lying around. She had to take it out right away! Bleue told her and Gus to be careful, giving them both a kiss on the forehead as she sent them off. Kat couldn't take off fast enough, excited to finally drive around. She had a couple hiccups, but otherwise drove well enough. Now she and Gus could venture out to further places! They brought back numerous finds: books for Daisy and pictures for Bleue. On the way back, Kat would spot something she’d never seen up close before: a spaceship flying overhead! To her further surprise was the ship landing so close by. She and Gus returned home to tell Bleue and Daisy about their discoveries. It wasn’t long before they would have visitors knocking on their door. Or rather, they barged in unannounced; two men and a woman- humans! Kat wasn’t sure how to greet them, having never met humans since she landed on this planet. They spoke first, demanding to know where the medical droid was, obviously talking about Daisy. For whatever reason, they wanted her and it didn’t sound like it was for anything good. Bleue attempted to step up and reason with the people...and they responded in kind by shooting her in the face. In that instance, Kat was overcome with several emotions: watching her dear friend who was like a sister to her being killed so ruthlessly. The act in and of itself also caused a blurry memory to surface, the girl clutching her head as she screamed. The group of intruders turned to look at the girl as she threw a screwdriver into one of the men’s eyes. He howled in pain, drawing his gun to shoot, but Gus jumped in the way to defend her. The last thing she was Gus’ back as he was riddled with holes when she suddenly fainted. Kat awoke in a different place, some sort of hangar it looked like. She didn’t know where she was but seeing as she wasn’t restrained, she went off looking for escape. Instead...she found what remained of Daisy as she was taken apart on a counter and plugged into some sort of computer. Why was this happening? Why to them? How could humans be so cruel? Kat snatched Daisy’s main body off the counter, setting off some alert as she was unplugged. “I-I’ll fix you! I can...I can fix you…” Kat promised as she ran down the hall. But she would run into the man she injured earlier who was furious! He kept calling her a “stupid android” as he struck her, causing her to drop Daisy and dragged her into a nearby room.
Now pulling a gun out, the little girl stared helplessly as she feared being killed...like Bleue. Her whimpers of fear stirred the inactive mass in the corner- Gus, who had managed to survive and tackled the man. With the bad man out, they could finally escape! Gaining her bearings, it seemed she was in some sort of ship, likely the people who attacked them. Just as they were making their escape, they were being shot at from behind by those people. Gus told her to keep running and get her and Daisy to safety. She was hesitant, but she would do as she was told as the people focused their fire on her friend. The young mechanic had to keep running, but when the gunfire stopped, she knew… Kat knew of quite a few places around that they could hide out without being found. Over the next couple days, she worked tirelessly to bring Daisy back online. And when she finally got her on, she was relieved. Except, Daisy was different; she didn’t know who she was and kept calling herself a “Nurse Robot” and was asking where the patients were. Kat came to the realization that the Daisy she knew was gone. The girl could do nothing but watch the bot float off, seeking patients to help.
Days passed as the girl had to flee, fearing those men would come after her. But eventually, she just stopped. She was all alone now, without food or water. What would become of her? Kat was beginning to feel hopeless as she was now lost in foreign territory. And yet, as she heard something flying overhead getting closer, she found the strength to find somewhere to hide. And it was how she came to make her biggest discovery yet. Apparently it was some sort of abandoned lab and fortunately it had food and water here! Kat decided to make this her new home, though she found it difficult to make a home without her family… As she explored the spacious lab, she came across all kinds of interesting tools and technology. She decided to delve into what they were researching, something as a means to distract herself. Over the next 3 years, she learned they were researching the planet itself, but lost funding after making no discoveries. At least they left behind their stuff for her to play with- she even found cute drones to keep her preoccupied so she wasn’t lonely. Still, she wished she had someone who could talk back to her. So, she started working on her first robot creation. She wanted to make a small bot so she could carry it around. One that could defend itself- no, defend them! And so, she created a little yellow bipedal robot from parts she found in the wasteland. She named her Bethany, the main protagonist from a show she and her family watched together. With Bethany, she would feel safer going out like she used to. With the success of Bethany, she wondered what other tech she could play with if she left the planet. Though, her newfound fear of humans has hindered her desire to do so.
