tab Five years ago, Nico would start his day by waking up to an obnoxiously loud alarm clock at 5 am. He'd work out in his personal gym until he was disgustingly sweaty, and then have a protein shake for breakfast. He'd read the news paper and review his company's weekly earnings and close some deals with new clients. Rarely, he'd see his sister Aylen for dinner. But that was five years ago.
tab This morning however, was no different than the day before. It started with a poke in the arm. "Dad..." The small voice roused Nico, who was now opening his left eye to see his step son, Jayce. "I want waffles." Yes, once Nico was a bachelor and could dead lift three hundred pounds, now he is awoken to make waffles. How life had changed for the better.
tab Well, you meet me in the kitchen and I will be there in two minutes. He groans, rolling over to place a light kiss on his wife's cheek. Her skin was so soft, and the light freckles sprinkled her cheeks. He rolled over and gets out of bed. He played with his wedding ring while he picked out an outfit. Everything had already been packed with love by the couple and so he was left with only his business clothes. He found some jeans in a drawer and slips them on. They're tight, but they'll do. He then slips on a blue dress shirt.
tab After brushing his hair and his teeth, he went to the kitchen to help Jayce with the waffles. Jayce has already taken out the mix ad the waffle maker. "Thanks Jefe! This is fantastic!" He said, ruffling his stepson's auburn hair. They worked well as a team, Nico would measure out the ingredients while Jayce would stir them in the big bowl. Nico could wipe the smile off his face, this was one of the most wonderful parts of being a married man.
tab Jefe, could you ask your Mom if shes ready to go? These waffles aren't going to eat themselves. He couldn't even finish his sentence before Jayce was speeding off into the bedroom. Scarlett came out in her normal morning radiant glow. She always looked stunning from the first time their eyes met. Good morning Mi Alma! He exclaimed as she kissed his cheek.
tab The rest of the morning was fairly clockwork. Scarlett went to put on makeup while Nico cleaned up and dressed Jayce. The family unit was packed in their SUV and ready to go. The drive was fairly quiet; Jayce played until he fell asleep and Scarlet was out before they made it out of the driveway. He took the time to mentally plan the emails he'd have to send later, and which of his manager's he'd need an update from. A sigh of relief passed his lips as they arrived at the ranch. It was huge, and he wondered how much the cost of upkeep it was to keep this place going... must be a lot.
tab The family pilled out of the car, and Nico noticed that his sister's car wasn't in front of the cabin yet. 'Huh, she must have worked a night shift. He thought absentmindedly. He brushed his hair back and followed his wife and son into the cabin. It was warm and rustic, certainly something he would never consider living in permanently. He was a city boy through and through, it was his sister who was the country bumpkin.
tab His train of thought was interrupted by his wife's arms being wrapped around his neck, and her soft lips on his. We could test out the bed we're sleeping in, before someone notices how tight these jeans can be." He said with a chuckle, leaning down to kiss her back. But considering you're on your time of the month, I'm going to think about baseball for the rest of our time here. He said with a pout.
tab After a few minutes internally naming every baseball player he could think of, he looked at Scarlett with a childish grin. "Why don't we go sneak some beer from that big house, I'm sure we could pretend to be adults while Jayce is sleeping." He grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up bridal style walking through the house until the porch outside. Mi Alma, I hope one day we can renew our vows so I can bring you through more doors like that. He said with a deep throated laugh, attaching himself to her hand and leading her to the main house.
tab Hola! He said with a wave to the couple standing nearby.
