It was a Monday evening, and Wolfgang was first to arrive at the Astronomy tower. He knew that otherwise, it was probably not safe for kids to go there unsupervised given the altitude of the tower. As far as he was concerned, these kids were most likely tired. Though, Wolfgang wasn't tired at this time of the night, probably blame his father's heritage for that...
The first-years students finally arrived and Wolfgang, now that he thought about it, was quite thankful that he didn't have to handle first years that much. This castle was much larger than Durmstrang, and there were already a lot of students who were unlucky enough to get lost.
"Good evening," Wolfgang greeted with a serene smile, a book in his arms. His German accent was hopefully understandable, certain that it shouldn't be that thick. "I'm Professor Wolfgang Deadman, and..." He trailed off and frowned, unsure if saying stuff about himself was a good idea. But Wolfgang felt that students here might be intimidated by his "eerie aura", and he pretty much liked a good first impression. "To introduce myself- I'm from Germany, and I studied in Durmstrang. Not sure if there's anything else I can say so- feel free to ask. Anyway, from now on I'll be your teacher for Astronomy. I'd like to know the names and house by one by one, please, so I may get an idea of who's who." 'And to not butcher the pronunciations, I suppose,' he thought, as he ran down the list of students, trying his best to remember them.
- - -
"Now that we're done with the introductions, I'll start by my simple reminders: Be patient when I'm teaching, I'll give you time to ask questions, none of that bullying behavior in my class because trust me- I won't turn a blind eye on that." He narrowed his eyes, briefly so as he looked at the crowd, then his expression was back to neutral, "Also I encourage collaborative effort when doing classroom activities. Especially tonight, as we're going to learn about the position of the planets in the solar system, in which each of them has a unique trait, though navigating one is difficult to figure out. And that's okay because you folks are new, and I'll be willing to help out. But once you know the positions enough to map a system chart on it, we will then move on to learn each planet one by one. That said, get your telescopes and identify which planet is which given the blackboard here. As I said," Wolfgang said, smiling with calm reassurance, "Helping each other out is encouraged because as a researcher- you learn a lot from doing things together."

"Good evening," Wolfgang said, greeting the students that finally arrived in the tower, "Hopefully you have parchments, because today we will be discussing about the movements of the planets." This was going to be an indoor lecture for tonight, he kind of figured that he has to not actually bore the students. Not everyone has the same passion as him as an Astronomer but... Wolfgang still wanted to show them that the class was to at least be appreciated at least? "Back then, people, usually the European muggle civilizations, used to think that Earth was the center of the universe. That the sun revolves around us as well as the moon and stars. Back then, people took that as the hard truth in Europe, until a man named Copernicus proposed that actually, the Earth revolves around the Sun. And believe it or not, people refused to believe that and took perhaps years for it to become the modern time's full truth." Wolfgang paused, and sighed, "My point was, things can change. School can change you. Nothing is always set in stone, just like the planetary movements."
"... Ahem. Anyway, philosophy aside," Wolfgang tapped his wand at the globe-looking sculpture in the room, making it glow and created a 3D magical model of the Solar System. Making the room be dark get lit with a few floating stars. "Each of these planets do not move at the same speed, and each of them finishes their rotation at different times. Like this Mercury," He pointed at the greyish small planet that was seemingly way too near to the Sun, "It makes sense of both muggle and wizard to agree to name it after a Greco-Roman god known for its flying speeding sandals. Mercury completely its revolution around the Sun in almost two months due to it being the nearest planet to it. So, if Earth has only able to complete in a year in 12 months. Mercury's "year" was only two months."
"Speaking of revolution, there are actually two kinds of planetary movement: Revolution and Rotation." Wolfgang waved his wand, to emphasize the Earth model and the Sun. "Let's use our very own Earth. Now, many people mix up these two, but in Astronomy, it's very different. Revolution refers to how this planet moves around the sun in a circular matter, in the context of our Earth this is where the four seasons come from. And for the moon revolving around the Earth, this is also what causes the moon in the night sky to be crescent, full moon, or just... the absence of the moonlight." He showed the Earth constantly moving around the sun in a circular manner. And then, showed the moon doing the same for the Earth as well. "Meanwhile, Rotation was when the Earth is spinning on its own. Like a spinning top, but slower. This is what causes day and night."
"Now that's out of the way, I have a few questions," Wolfgang said, looking at the students with a curious look on his face, "Earlier I said that the planets do not move in the same speed, and they do not complete their revolution at the same time. How come Mercury can only complete it in almost two months, but the Earth can only do it in twelve? What do you think caused them, exactly, to not move at the same speed?" He gestured at the Solar System once again... as a hint.

"Good evening, I hope you bring your telescopes, star maps, and a compass tonight," Wolfgang greeted the first years, slightly more excited than usual as shown with his... small slightly excited smile. Then again, stars and constellations were pretty much his favorite field of a subject in astronomy. He pretty much saw it as a work of art in his years in the Observatory, and no it was nothing to do with his half-vampiric parentage. "Today we're gonna learn about stars and their names, the ones that made up our constellations. Now, every different culture on this planet has a very different view of each star. For example, some stars would make Western astronomers go 'Look, those are the stars that make up the Archer constellation. While in Chinese culture, the astronomers would point at the same stars and go 'Oh, that's the stars that make up the Celestial Spring pattern'. But for now, we'll start from our own, those who wish to learn more will learn more."
"To put it simply, stars more or less give us life, physically and metaphorically. Our sun is a star and it's the one that gives warmth and seasons, perhaps it also gives you serotonin, a smaller equivalent of a Cheering Charm. Maybe, it gives us the concept of time. And maybe, it makes the night sky... less boring to look at." Wolfgang sighed quietly. It was these days where he genuinely appreciated watching sunrises and sunsets since it was one of the times where he didn't feel like he was being cooked in direct sunlight. He hated being out in midday though.
"While no, I'm not gonna make you make a star chart from scratch. For now, I'll teach you how to navigate the names of stars with star maps. Star maps are a bit like the road maps we use to help us travel to new places, but instead of important landmarks like churches, museums, forests or lakes, the stars and constellations are our road signs. Understanding how to use a star chart is one of the easiest ways to start learning the night sky, but it can be a bit daunting knowing what to do with one, so letโs go back to basics and see how they work."
"Before you try to match your sky map to the night sky you first need to find out which direction youโre facing. Take a look at where your compasses are pointing, now you are ready to match your map to the night sky. If you are looking towards the south you need to move your sky chart so that it shows the southern sky, too. Most star charts look like they have the compass points around the wrong way round, but because it is a map of the sky you have to hold it over your head, facing down, and then east and west will be the right way round. I'll give additional points to anyone who is able to label a star correctly, and teamwork is encouraged here." With that, Wolfgang began to watch over the first years, but not too much. He didn't want to make them feel pressured, despite his need to make a stern impression.
