Dark Lord Everfear
Siegfried "Siege" Morris had grown up in a small town, the son of a simple farmer. He had always found life on the farm to be boring, though, and had hoped for something greater... He used to sneak out every night and head down to the local tavern. There, he'd listen to the bards, and the tales they'd tell. He was especially fond of the tales of valiant knights. Fighting for honor, gold, and glory; and winning the hearts of young maidens...
Siege had dreamed of becoming a knight himself... so he had run away and enlisted in the royal guard as soon as he was old enough. He had been made to swear a vow to his Gods, King, and Country... although he had never actually taken this vow seriously. He had never really believed in the Gods, he didn't think very highly of the King, and he honestly couldn't care less about his country. To put it quite simply, he didn't enlist in the army to serve - he had done it for the gold, the glory, and the adventure.
Siege soon found out, however, that life in the Royal Guard wasn't all it was cracked up to be. There was no glory or adventure to be found here... Just a lot of pointless marching and boring drills. He was naturally a free spirit, and he often felt imprisoned by the rank-and-file, spit-and-polish life of a soldier. He had dreamed of fighting in great battles and rescuing damsels in distress - yet here he was, being ordered around each and every day. Being told when to sleep, when to wake up, when to eat... He had little freedom of his own.
Recently, Siege had been assigned guard duty at a dungeon. Essentially, he was walking up and down all night, babysitting a handful of dangerous prisoners. They were all locked in stone cells with solid iron bars, so there was little chance they could escape or cause any trouble anyways.
When Siege had arrived at the dungeon tonight, he noticed that there was a new prisoner in one of the cells. A stunningly beautiful young woman... As siege looked at her through the bars, he could see the fear and sadness in her eyes. She definitely didn't look like one of the hardened criminals who typically inhabited these cells, and she seemed very much out of place here.
"Hello there!" said Siege, smiling at her kindly through the cell bars. He reached into his pocket, pulling out the key that would unlock the cell. "It's a pleasure to meet you - the name's Siegfried, but you can call me 'Siege'. In case you can't tell, I'm one of the guards in this dump... So, if you don't mind me asking - how did a pretty girl like you end up in a place like this?"
If it’s ok this is where we’ll post! ^w^
