Where deep in the desert twilight Sand melts in pools of the sky
The excitable little one was at least high enough to do damage to his legs, should something happen and appearances not be what they presented themselves to be. But, in this situation, in plain daylight, he felt little need to be overly cautious. Fortunately enough, this one was in his sight and because he was talking to him, Bador could react and respond to protect himself from this little one. .... But, Bador's instincts suggested that the lad wouldn't want to cause trouble.
"I am searching for a mage, yes." His answer, as before, was simple, and likely proved to both the audience and fellow tellers of this tale that, yes, Bador wasn't much for talking. But big guy had muscle and weight behind him, and though there was some noise from his hooves and from the wooden trinkets around his belt, Bador seemed more like a figure from Narnia than from the farm. But then, it could have been the way he carried himself with a kind of barbaric nobility and no-nonsense strength.
"What do you know of mage and knight bonds?"

¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.¤ Before the worlds collided he might have thought Bador came from a place like Naria, but nowadays such thoughts didn't cross his mind. When he asked where someone was from it was done like he would the average human. After all, the actual place existed in the world he lived in and it was highly likely that he could technically go whenever he wanted. What was taught as being fantasy was now a reality--the change was welcomed.
"Are ya lookin' for a student or teacher?" He asked after he hummed out an 'I see'. "I mean...wouldn't you haveta wait for the student to graduate or sumthin'? And a teacher probably already has a knight. Ah, but I heard a mage can have a harem." A laugh escaped him. After his laughter died off there was a slight pause before he answered the question that was asked. "I don't know much," he admitted before continuing. "Do people decide on a whim? Or is there some kinda attraction that can't be explained?"
Pavel looked over at the three that were talking. Was there a bond between some of them? His gaze returned to the one he was conversing with. "Can you tell when two are bonded and which is the mage of the group?" The next bit he said as an afterthought. "I suppose I'd learn all 'bout that by taken classes." At the moment, he was curious about what they were talking about because it would become part of his future. "Wait. You're a knight already, right? A mageless one." He cocked his head to the side while still looking up at him. "You're good at melee combat, no?" He glanced at the weapon he carried out in the open. "Can ya use magic as well?" He knew there was a reason for the bond and that it was related to the use of magic, but he didn't learn any specifics. What he really wanted to know was how this guy fought and what kind of magic he could possibly use. Pavel didn't even know if there were magic restrictions. Could he just learn whatever he wanted or was he stuck with a type because it was part of his DNA or something like that?¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

The bull's ears twitched upward and were angled forward, betraying his attention and interest in what the young man with saying. He would have preferred a graduated student or a teacher, yes, but it was his experience that to do any kind of good, it was more important that one was willing to travel.
But, on the other hand, if there were students here, perhaps he could linger until such a time as one was ready to travel. Anyone with the skill, he thought to himself, but more importantly, one whose goal aligned with his. There was danger yet coming. He could taste it.
As for the question at hand... His hand moved to his belt, where a cord held a number of wooden tokens about three inches long and an inch wide. Each of these looked very carefully carved. "A 'knight' as you say, only has their ability. Some talent, some skill, but no magic for anything more powerful. Mages have that power. When shared, both are stronger."

Pavel's tendency to ask questions as they came to him was not giving him what he wanted. Most of them end up being ignored. This time, he didn't really care about what kind of mage Bador was looking for--it wasn't like he was even thinking about that kind of thing. He had to learn magic first.
Light brown eyes shifted to look at the cord with the wooden tokens. He noticed them before, but he was more curious about other things at the time. Pavel looked back up at the furry. The response was a bit vague, but he only wanted to know one thing. "What kind of ability or skill do ya have?"
Pavel waited for him to respond this time. The next thing he did happened either while the other was talking or when he finished--depending on how long or boring the explanation ended up being. His fingers feathered across the wooden tokens as he stared at them. One ended up being held between a few fingers--if he was allowed. His thumb brushed against the carving. "What're these for?" He looked up at the bull once more.¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

Fortunately, again, Bador was not territorial, otherwise he might have been very touchy about the carvings being touched. But, then again, as a father, he understood youthful curiosity. Perhaps these things helped calm the beast, and helped him hear the questions this time. No, he wasn't much of a talker, and unfortunately, he wasn't sure how many of the questions he was asked were supposed to be answered.
If he was honest, he was almost overwhelmed by the questions.
But, concerning his skills and abilities, he could answer. He let the wooden pieces rest, to be studied by the young man.
"I study the earth. I carve tokens of respect for my guides and spirit guardians, who strengthen me as I call on them." His tail swept the air behind him. His right ear twitched again. Curious lad. He wasn't sure how old this one was, at least when compared to other humans. Though, were the lad a minotaur, he would have been a child still. He confirmed that by measuring.
"The bull is my ancestral token. My ancestors give me strength." He watched the young man, curious about whether the lad would inquire further and study the carved tokens or if he would launch into more questions. "The ant spirit allows me to cast the earth aside. The lion silences my steps and allows me to follow tracks in the earth with a keener eye. The power is not mine, but the strength the spirits give me."
The bull's head tilted a few inches to the left. "Are you apprenticed here?"

¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.¤ Pavel examined the wooden pieces carefully while he listened. Talk of earth and spirit guardians reminded him of World of Warcraft. He looked up at the bull while still holding a token delicately between his fingers. Bador even looked like a Tauren. His gaze shifted back to the token he was fiddling with. "Like a Shaman?" He stated more than asked even though it was technically a question. A curious hum escaped him as things were explained in more detail. When the silencing of steps was mentioned he glanced down at the hooves he had to walk around with. After he returned his attention to the tokens, he only stopped examining when the other mentioned something about the power not belonging to him. Light brown eyes shifted to look back up at the furry man as he freed the last one from his grasp and took a step back. It was just easier to see him that way without straining his neck. "Could I learn how to get the spirits the help me?"
Whether his question was answered positively or not didn't change how he replied to what was asked a bit later. Pavel seemed to pause in thought before he spoke up again. "I guess ya could say that...I just arrived as a new student." A small smile appeared on his face for reasons he did not know. It probably had to do with the fact that he could finally learn some magic, but talking to Bador reminded him how little he actually knew. "Oh, you mentioned earth...does everyone have one elemental magic they can learn? Like would I haveta pick one or is it sumthin' innate that needsta be brought out?" If it was the latter, he would be itching to know what his affinity was--probably something destructive like fire. Would it even be personality based? So many questions.¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

The lad's enthusiasm was amusing to Bador, and more than once he found his mind briefly returning home, to his calves. But, there were more questions the pale lad was asking him, and Bador knew the answers to these. He huffed affirmatively. Shaman was a fair title to use for him.
Could the lad learn to call on the animal spirits and guides? There seemed to come an amused light behind the bull's eyes as he pondered this. It seemed a serious question, and while he would have been more than eager to share his wisdom, what needed to be learned couldn't simply be expressed.
"To learn is a lifetime. All I do is ask and I am fortunate to have their alliance and help." He studied the young man as a little bit of distance was gained between them. Could this power be learned? Bador felt so. Was it prudent to make all shamans? Perhaps not. There was much focus, much energy, and a great deal of time needed for such work.
Then the conversation took an interesting turn, and after a moment's explanation that taught Bador more about the smallish humanoid, another question was presented to him. Bador straightened and filled his lungs with air as he pondered it.
"As my father taught, all are made of the world. Some might have more fire burning within their souls. Others are made of sturdier earth, and are harder to move." His hoof tapped the road for emphasis. "Using these elements is a practice of learning more about yourself."
There was so very much about the elements and the world, but Bador did not consider himself an expert beyond what he spent his lifetime practicing and working to master. "The earth has always called me, and I value its strength. I learned of the earth and it is... as you say... innate. I wonder if it is both with the elements. One can learn where they wish and there is more within them."

¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.¤ A lifetime was too long. Pavel was not the most patient person in the world. Well, maybe that wasn't entirely true. He just had a tendency to get bored easily and thus move on to something else. It takes patience to work with bombs after all. If he could just ask and be blessed that'd be best. Going through the task of winning them over or whatever was entailed would be annoying. Then again, it could be interesting. It's not like he met any spirit guardians before. Do they look remotely like the ones in something like World of Warcraft? He didn't care enough to ask since it was highly likely that he wouldn't take the time to go through the motions.
Bador's explanation about the magic was a bit vague--which was not satisfying. The brown-haired young adult scratched lazily behind his ear as he listened. His eyes glanced at the ground that was stomped on during the reply. "Soo basically, you don't get a choice but it might be possible to choose?" His facial features twisted in slight confusion. If it was related to your person wouldn't it be fire for him? He was wild and explosive after all. The only problem was how that didn't seem correct for some bizarre reason. What else was there? Wind, water, earth? Probably not earth. "Something that calls me?" He pondered more to himself since he was currently lost in thought.
Pavel suddenly sat on the ground with his legs crossed--despite the fact that he was still in the pathway. An elbow rested on a thigh so he could lean over and plop his chin into the palm of his hand. The only thing that sparked interesting consistently is creating bombs. The mixing of chemicals and machinery to create different reactions. That couldn't be related to what he was talking about, right? He also liked the freedom to explore and be himself. One to just move at his own pace and go with the flow--wherever it takes him. That sounds more like air or water. How crazy would it be if he had an innate ability for water? After all, he was always blowing s**t up and that's more like fire. A low chuckle escaped him.
The shortie pushed himself up off the ground and looked up at Bador--assuming he was still there. "I won't be able to figure out what fits me without knowing more," he said it in a way that could have been seen as a question, but he was pretty sure he couldn't find out all on his own. That just meant that he had to wait until he took a "how to find your element" class or something of the sort. Pavel shifted the backpack that still hung from his back. Currently, it was evenly distributed between both shoulders.¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

Bador's ears fell a few inches and his eyes grew distant for a brief moment as he gathered his thoughts. When he gathered himself again, his attention returned to the young one.
"You cannot change your make, or who you are, or what you are. That cannot stop you from learning of the other pieces of the world." Feeling this was a satisfactory response, he nodded, as though to validate himself.
Then the lad suddenly sat. Bador had to tilt his head to see the lad after he moved. He seemed to think for a while, but from so far down, Bador wasn't certain what thoughts could be gained that weren't speaking from the earth or the spirits that might have weaved through the remaining for pieces of the world. Then, suddenly, the lad was up again. Bador could right his head again.
The bull wasn't sure about the sentence, but he thought he heard a question behind the words. But, not quite sure how to translate the way the young man's face was moving, he felt the need to ask more.
"You sound lost."

That's basically what he got from what was said. Honestly, he didn't know what kind of element he'd prefer. He could cause fires on his own though. It would be boring to see more of the same. Pavel didn't bother to think about the rest--especially since the other basically begged him to open up more. "Are ya worried 'bout lil old me~?" He said in an obvious teasing tone before he gave Bador a crooked smile. "I just have nooo idea what kinda element would be part of who I am." He shrugged. It's not like he took that long to think about it though.¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

The bull's left ear twitched once. It easily swung back into place, and lifted slightly up. the little one seemed to comprehend, if the momentary silence was to be understood. Then he began to speak again. The tone... it was not a serious tone. The humanoids enjoyed using their voice to create inflections like this one.
A bull didn't bother with inflections. For Bador, his stance and how he set his weight on his hooves, and how he angled his head displayed the emotions he needed to convey. He was learning more and more about humanoid inflections, however, and their tones, and sounds, and sayings, the longer he was among them. This place was strange, but it had patterns he was beginning to understand.
Bador lifted a hand and pat Pavel's shoulder. However, even the gentle force, when pulled by gravity, might have made the pat seem almost a heavy strike. A reassuring gesture was attempted. Bador lifted his head slightly in a vote of confidence.
"Your path brought you here. You will learn." Bador looked down to Pavel and smiled with his eyes. A few days ago, he learned not to use his teeth as the humanoids did. The last effect had summoned laughter.

Since he hadn't seen a furry like Bador he wanted to soak in as much as he could. It quickly became apparent that his tone stayed the same--boring. His actions were more lively though. It took him a while to consider how the bull's ears moved around: like a catgirl. He'd have to spend more time with him to truly understand though.
Pavel stumbled slightly when the large hand was placed on his shoulder. He knew it wasn't done in an aggressive way and that the being was probably attempting to be comforting, but he just wasn't built like the other. He didn't tease him about his heavy hand though. Instead, a big grin spread across his face after the encouraging words spilled out of Bador's mouth. "Of course I will!" He said in a confident tone. There was excitement written all over his face.
"I like you. You're a good guy," he smiled up at his new friend, "we should chill sumtime. Well, see ya later." Pavel slapped him on his bum right when he started to utter the 'see ya later' part. Assuming he wasn't stopped, he turned to walk somewhere else when he added one more thing. "Good luck finding your mage," a sly smile appeared on his face, "although, I'm better than any mage you'll ever meet." A brief hearty laugh bellowed out of him as he started to walk away for real. It could be taken as a joke because who would declare something like that? Then again, it was said with such confidence. One could also assume that meant he planned to become a mage, but that wasn't technically something he was set on. Pavel didn't know enough about the whole system after all. A final wave was given without looking back.¤.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸Location: On the main path with a bull furry.

The bull, encouraged that he had raised the young one's spirits, watched the young man depart. There was energy in that voice, and it was a sound that was pleasant to his ears. Today would be a good day. The young man talked like a mage. Perhaps he would become a good one yet.
He had yet to learn how people 'chilled' but a part of him hoped that snow wasn't involved. The weather was favorable and he much preferred it to winter. His spirits returned again when the lad returned encouragement. Today was a good day.
Bador laughed, the sound reverberating, deep, and from his lungs seemed rather loud. He folded his arms and lifted his chin. It was almost a nod, and at the same time, it was a challenge. "We shall see what you measure to!"
He struck his hoof against the road and tossed some of his mane. Time would tell whether the lad would measure up to his bold claim. However, Bador was encouraged. If one lad was here to learn, then there were others. If there were students, then there would most certainly be teachers. If teachers, then yet others. There would be more mages yet. "Good day."
