Story Background
A long time ago, humans were at war with one another. It wasn't anything unusual but it had gotten to the point that the population was decreasing rapidly. The humans couldn't afford to lose more of their own, so instead, they created something to fight for them--living dolls. These dolls, at first, were essentially mindless beings who did just as they were told, who fought for no other reason than the fact that that was their purpose. However, one being grew tired of this and created their own doll...a doll different from all others because she did not have to obey any human commands. She was sentient. She was actually living.
She was given the ability, alchemically, to bring sentience to all other dolls with her voice...and that's exactly what she did. She moved through the battle fields, singing, and all around her dolls dropped their weapons and followed. They were people now, people who had no reason to be fighting. Of course, the humans didn't much appreciate this and attempted to go to war with the dolls...uniting against one now common enemy. Unfortunately for them, the dolls were much more suited for combat and easily won. They were capable taking nearly all human land for themselves via conquering...at least to prove a point. When the humans gave up, the dolls gave back half of the land they had taken but only half because now, they too needed a place to call their own since they were now people. This doll, who was created by the Alchemist, was named Queen and has been ruling peacefully ever since.
Although there haven't been any more wars, that doesn't mean that everyone is happy with the situation. The humans can be especially bitter about the loss especially because they are much less good at taking care of their half of the land. There have been skirmishes and such but nothing war inducing as of yet....but....soon that might change.
