Jarah smiled softly and shook his head. "It's not stupid, Mari... It's understandable," he said. "But it doesn't matter to me. I hate that you got scarred, but not because it affects how I see you. I hate it because it means you got hurt and I wasn't there to protect you..." Jarah trailed off, tugging the other boy a little closer. "You're entitled to a little vanity, as adorable as you are," he said with a crooked smile.

Adorable? Still? Marinel hesitated before wrapping his arms around Jarah. “I’ve really got to find the time to introduce you to my brother,” he said. “I’m sure you guys will get along.”

Jarah was supportive, just like Dolly was. They probably had plenty else in common.
