They courted for three years before marrying, much to the chagrin of her mother's parents, and her father moved south to live with her mother. Atloka, her mother, quickly became pregnant with their first child and it was a happy time for both families in till Jako was killed in a mystery incident with no leads and no clues. It didn't take long for rumors to arise.
Atloka's seeming apathy for the situation, and slipping mental state that no one could account for, quickly lead to an accusation of blood bending. Even with no evidence to back up the claim, Atloka was banished from her tribe-- still pregnant. Exhausted, seven months pregnant, and super pissed off; Atloka made her way to one of the barrier islands to the north, just below Kyoshi island, and settled down. On her own, the water bender took care of her daughter for eight years before her mind was stolen from her by her mystery illness.
From there, a nice man by the name of Zhang became her mother's keeper while helping Kytrnn as she grew up; preparing meals, doing household chores with the help of the young girl, and keeping the house in working order. Kytrnn became to know him as sort of an older brother, and still thinks of him quite often while out and about.
After turning 18, and no longer being able to stand being trapped on their small island, Kytrnn quickly struck out on her own.

She was never one to back down from a challenge, especially when it came to firebending like her big brother. Her friends described her as witty, at times confusingly optimistic even in the face of a world scarred by war and Catastrophe. For her, everything was either a challenged to take head on, or a mission already completed. Some might go as far as to say she was arrogant, but it came off more like focused self-confidence.
As she got into her late teen years, when the headaches started and the dazzlingly mystical dreams of explosions prevaded her mind, Kai Leng sought out answers in spirituality, and it tempered her as much as someone like her could be tempered and swayed. Learning she had the Combustion Bender gene in her gave her pride and humility in equal measure. By the time disaster struck she was already quieter and more poised like a proper soldier girl should be. Comparisons between her and Princess Azula were quickly shot down; she wasn't nearly so unhinged or devilish in her plotting. Rather she was simply practiced and sure of herself until the day she nearly killed herself, her brother, and injured some onlookers showing off her abilities during training and losing control in a way she hadn't known she could.
Covering her tattoo with masks or her hair, she vowed she wouldn't ever use the power recklessly again over and over until it became a mantra. One that curved her passion and ignited a fear of her own power that manages to hold her back even now...

The somewhat large family was full to the brim with energy all the time, with Kai Leng and her beloved older brother and inspiration Asla being naturally gifted firebenders. In the early years of her childhood, her boundless energy, affinity for mischief and penchant for chaos led her to begging Asla to teach her any and every firebending technique that he mastered to the point where she simply became something like a peer to him. The younger siblings, though also firebenders, struggled to keep up with them, and her especially, as she pushed the envelop forward more and more. The firebending academy was ran absolutely ragged by the infinite gyre that was Kai Leng, and by the time she was 14 she was even giving some teachers a hard time.
She had figured out that firebending was more than just projecting fire, but she couldn't figure any of that nonsense out on her own. She was having a hard enough time deciphering the haze of dreams plaguing her sleeping hours. The distraction was unwelcome, as were the headaches, but it didn't stifle her training, her studies or her extracurricular activities in and around Caldera.
Tragic as it is, she hit something of a plateau. Her friends weren't so far behind, which didn't bother her too much, and Asla had begun to unravel the secrets of Reiki Bending slowly but surely while she couldn't even begin to discipline the storm in her mind long enough to do even the basics. Worse still, days came where her headaches were crippling. It wasn't until a former leader within the Red Lotus, doing time in repentance as a doctor mentioned that she may have an issue with her spirit. She was 16 years old, around the age that the Combustion Bending issues came to a head. Asla was 18, and heading into the military, so Kai Leng kept it from him as long as she could. In the meantime, she took off, leaving her sister, Ken, in charge of their gaggle of friends until she came home from her journey to meet others of her kind. By the time she returned, something was different. She carried herself like she could blow up at any time, like there was something within her threatening to burst forth. Her firebending had become far more potent, her ability to measure every step and her forethought alike had sharpened. She lost none of the fire, the edge that had driven her ahead. Something had wrapped around it all however.
She didn't show it off until her brother came home from his deployment at her urgent behest. He showed him the tattoo, freshly finished in a ritual that saw her inscribing it upon herself, and explained the whole deal to him.
That marked when her military career began. She left the school with honors, enlisted, and joined his prestigious, if boring, deployment escorting and protecting Nobles. It was during a routine, and yes very stupid, hands-on combat training session she had initiated that Kai Leng decided that she would decide to catch a fireball sent her way and direct it back at him as a burst of combustion bending.
She stepped in and took the attack head on with outstretched hands, directing the blaze to encircle her, enriching her own chi as her hands made a tight, quick swirl. In her minds eyes she visualized and executed as she had hundreds of times. Except this time something roared in her mind, screaming with a volume that split her focus so much that the explosion misfired.
Asla's chest was eviscerated.
She was blinded for five days as her chi realigned itself, though her imagination kept her awake for hours into the night with visions of dragons and spirits looking down on her with disappointment. She vowed, swore even, not to ever missuse that power again. She, to this day, still flinches away when she has to fight. The once explosive girl is a shell of herself.
Still, with Ba Sing Se taken, every talent, every prodigy and every savant would be needed to liberate the city once more. Reluctantly, and with a heavy heart, Kai Leng Huang joined the White Lotus forces sneaking into the city to mount an attack on the greatest masters of the generation.

Born under an eclipsed sun the elder of their village looked upon the baby Marama and thought her to be touched by the spirits. In their society the girl was treated differently because of her apparent connection to the spirits as indicated by her strange birthmark and the celestial event accompanying her birth. Some saw her as a connection to past relatives and others saw her as an ill omen but almost everyone treated her differently. Being treated differently eventually caused the girl to turn inward so as to protect herself. Too many people always wanted to make her into something she wasn't and it just got so tiresome. Learning the traditional ways of her people was difficult for Marama, fire was hard to grasp conceptually and fueling it was even harder for her. Many of her peers mocked her but she persisted. She learned how to bend fire even if her bending was weaker than most others'. There was one however whom befriended her and they grew close together over time. His name was Nikau, and when Marama was around him she felt herself knowing happiness. However as she neared adulthood of a series of great disasters impacted the island.
First was a great storm that hit suddenly and caused many of the village's fishermen to never return. Nikau was among them. In the wake of the storm Marama was devastated and turned to practicing her bending for solace. What she lacked in capacity for bending fire, she seemed to make up for when it came creating to lightning. However while she was deep within her own grief a great drought which caused many of the crops to die struck. Finally the volcano seemed to be stirring as the ground shook from time to time. Many blamed Marama for these events and before she could either be sacrificed by an overly spiritual mob to the volcano or otherwise banished she stole a canoe and some provisions in the middle of the night and put out to sea.

Kouske was born to the monks of the Northern Air temple. A half breed child, bore between the head of a minor fire nation house and a airbender monk. An odd combination to be sure, but one that was fated as destiny from the moment that the pair met eyes with each other. Their passions fueled each other, becoming a bright and all consuming light. But just as a wildfire, their love could not survive after devouring all of its kindling. Life pulled the pair in different directions, the only memory remaining of their time together being a little baby boy.
Unfortunately, by the time of his birth the last dwindles of that romantic spark had all but been snuffed from existence. A fact that was displayed best perhaps, by his dual first names. Each parent wanting to lay their own claim on him and this couldn't even agree on the simplest matters any longer. It wasn't until Kosuke displayed the first hints of being an Airbender, a sneeze much too powerful for a child, that his father at last relented. Considering it best that his mother raised him from that point on, he traveled back home to run his house.
Time passed ever onward, and Kosuke grew into a young teenager. His time with the monks was the only lofe he ever knew and it had left its mark on him. Perhaps even to claim him fully were it naught for a letter arriving from his father in the fire nation. Stepped with regret and a longing for a time long since past he begged to still become apart of his life, and Kosuke agreed. The prospect of adventure pulled at his heartstrings, and so began the first year of his life in his father's birth home. The revelation, shaking Kosuke to his very core. This was a boy who had spent his whole life being taught to detach oneself, and now here he was, living in splendor and wealth.
The shock was a bit jarring at first but he learned, through the help of his father, how to act like a respectable young inheritor. Leaving Kosuke truly enthralled, the first cracks in his monastic beliefs. To him, there was so much to enjoy in life, so much to experience. So how was it that he could just simply shut all of that out? Even more so when the benefits of what the air nomads taught was not so readily understandable. In the end, Kosuke chose to reject their beliefs outright. In his mind rejecting it all and instead, he would seek his own path to enlightenment wherever that was meant to take him. After his time in the fire nation came to close, Kosuke readied himself for a different path. He waited until he was of age and set out not a second after. Leaving behind even the name his mother had given him and becoming Kosuke.

He was quickly grabbed by soldiers to serve as a bender. For some reason however, Ye Xiu did not respond well to the rigidity of the Earth Kingdom's systems. Despite these difficulties, Ye Xiu still excelled and rose through the ranks. Still there was a point where Ye Xiu simply resigned his commission and began wandering. It was during his travels that he learned of the other elements and the mentality that went behind the art of each element. His study further pushed into the martial arts that formed the core of each bending style. While he didn't master all these styles, the point remained that he went to expand his views beyond what the soldiers of the Earth Kingdom had attempted to instill. Ye Xiu learned in turn that his bending could grow so much more by incorporating wisdom from all the styles. He would often challenge other benders to friendly matches to apply that wisdom into practice. Ye Xiu emerged an odd bender compared to most. He was rounded up by happenstance during the Red Lotus' strike on Ba Sing Se due to his musculature and build, not knowing who he was.

Unlike many in her tribe, it became apparent she was not a water bender as many were, which made life a bit more difficult as she couldn’t move around as fast as her fellow tribesman when it came to traveling on the water. While this was a struggle and a constant source of frustration for her she soon learned other ways around it, such as using the other aspects of the swamp to her advantage, such as the vines. She in simple terms became an authentic Tiger Monkey being able to quickly climb up trees as well as jump and swim from them with ease, as if she were born to do so. She learned how to fight mostly by roughhousing with catgators or messing around with her fellow villagers, or disguising herself as some monster to play tricks on poor lost travellers.
Her tribe tried marrying her off when she reached the age of adulthood but she proved to be against any potential pairing as she had no interest. She did not wish to settle down until getting to see the world but she always found herself too scared of the “unknown” to truly leave the swamp. They were insistent and so she left eager to explore the world. The problem with this plan was she had no idea where to go or what to do, and a girl has to eat right? She got lucky, a circus was passing through the earth kingdom and she managed to get work with them, first she started off caring for the animals but she soon proved to be a skilled trapis artist. For the past few years her life has been the circus life, traveling the world.
