A day with nothing to do was only slightly better than a day full of chores and errands. At fifteen it was the same anyway you looked at it. Dull.

Her mother was in Gambino for the next week, which meant she wouldn't be around for her birthday, again... and again that meant that on top of gifts she got guilt money, the moral payoff.. and she could do whatever she wanted with it, the black plastic card was burning a hole in her wallet. Leaving the upper east side Durem town home she stopped to admired her newly colored black locks, streaks of acid green, indigo and violet peaked out of her layers as she tugged on her hoodie and inspected her look. Empty backpack, check no... make up bad better come too.. wallet with card and cash.. small purse with barter-able items... She was ready to rock and roll.

Stepping out onto the sidewalk she smiled observing that the autumn day was cool enough that it hadn't cooked off the fog the clung to everything, but it was still warm enough that both indoor, outdoor and the other parts of the bazaar would still be fully functional.

It was an easy walk, she stopped grabbed an extra large coffee extra fancy raspberry flavored creamy latee... She could hear the din from the Bazaar a half a block away. Taking a sip of her coffee she made her way to a food stall first, falafel was in order to fuel today's expedition.

Food in hand nibbled and sipped alternately while she surveyed the colorful rugs, scarves and glass-wears early on in the setup... no sign of her favorite vendor...

Smokey was hanging out on a small balcony above—unbeknownst to those who dwelled in the apartment—and counting through her small change for, like, the fifth time at least while she kept an occasional eye on the goings on below. But, however much she counted, the coins did not magically multiply. Shoot.

Klaudya's attire and especially her hair caught her attention, enough to shift closer to the rusty railing for a curious closer look. Man . . . Goofing off like that, with both her hands full with food and her attention apparently elsewhere, that girl was going to be easy game for the local pickpock—

Right on cue she spied a youth she already was quite familiar with at a nearby corner who strode right towards the girl from behind to "accidentally" bump into her. Quickly Smokey looked about for some form of ammunition, and found it in the form of an empty flowerpot.

'Oy!' she yelled, and sent the flowerpot flying to crash right in front of the pickpocket's feet.

The shock had the small girl spinning to see the startled kid, about her age and the once pretty bits of a ceramic pot, which must have been the source of the crash. Polishing off her falafel she looked around and then up at the shadowed balcony. Blinking then grinning with no small amount of malice before looking back at the youth. "Don't want to get too close to me... things tend to happen."

Flipping her hair she blinked and moved into the stall under said balcony which looked to be selling vintage comics, art books and the occasional used fantasy novel along with some decent art supplies. Sliding her hand over the spines of volumes she took a long swallow of her coffee. And turned her thoughts to what she had seen about three stories up..

Quite satisfied with her aim Smokey leaned over the railing when the thief scanned his surroundings for where the projectile had been hurled from. When she caught his glance, she rammed her right fist into the open palm of her left hand to indicate what was waiting for him should he stick around. It was a familiar face. Really, he should know better by now than to try robbing people on her turf. Especially in front of her favorite store. He was smart enough to run of quickly.

Smokey shoved the coins back into her belt bag and jumped across the railing, onto the awning below. If she was quick, maybe she could collect a little reward from the lady, in form of small change. The striped fabric barely moved under her almost non-existent weight, when she jumped from it to the ground—the perks of being a creature wholly made of shadows, even in her fully physical form.

'You need to be more careful,' she said, looking over the teen with the colorful hair as she tried to gauge her reaction. With her brown skin and messy hair it was easy to confuse Smokey for one of the local kids—apart from where her wardrobe of harem pants only was wholly inappropriate for the chilly weather—until people realized her face consisted of a pair of eyes only, and her "voice" was actually in their head. Then a lot of them freaked out, even though there really were plenty of weirder things on Gaia.

Taking a long gulp of her coffee she angled her narrow frame away from the display to where the voice was behind her. It surprised her to see the shadow that had pushed the pot from the balcony, particularly that it had a tangible form.. and was female. It wasn't the first time a nether creature had called her foolish, not even the first time that one had assisted her. However, it was the first time that one had approached her to scold her afterwards.

"The pot thrower."

Klaudya studied the creature trying to stay calm as she took it all in, slightly messy hair, loose easy to move clothes, red eyes, messy hair and tanned skin... particularly the bright markings and missing facial geography.

"Or maybe I just need to keep you around." She tilted her head and smirked at the little creature.. though it might be rude to call her little given Klaudya's diminutive stature. "Though I don't really know what you saved me from."

'Yup~!' Smokey beamed, and somehow she managed to give off the distinct impression there'd be a wide grin plastered on her face if she only possessed a mouth.

Smokey crossed her arms and rose her chin to levely gaze at the lady with the colorful hair when she noticed she was being scrutinized. It was obvious this little shadow spirit brimmed with confidence and spunk.

Well, the lady hadn't freaked out, which meant she was either used to weirder things, or familiar with her kind.

'Losing all your money, that's what,' Smokey informed the teen. 'There's a lot of pickpockets around here.'

What was this girl anyway? Klaudya tilted her head. "Pickpockets huh? I'm not worried about them, all I have is plastic and some low end things to barter with."

She did smile, making her pouting face pretty as the other girls aura was contagious. She decided to play along. "But you did me a favor, would you like a favor in return? I can read your fortune.. Or I can reward you, but it would be a barter item..."

'Oh,' Smokey made, her disappointment pretty obvious. She didn't need her fortune read, she knew enough people who could do that for her anytime.

'Got any comics?' Unlikely, but worth a try. Maybe she'd be lucky.

Pursing carefully painted lips she tilted her head. "So that's what you like... I can buy you one," she gestured at the area around them, "Or I can buy you three if you tell me who and what you are."

Reaching into a bin she selected a small stack of random comics and flipped through them, azure eyes on the books as she spoke next. "I'm Klaudya Ehrena Sibyl-Lange." She enunciated carefully, rolling her 'r' and extending the 's' in Sibyl, she pronounced Lange like Long. It was a habit she had fallen into a long time ago, full name introduction was what her mother expected of her, even if it made her sound snooty and arrogant. Her mother had worked hard to make their name recognizable.

'Gee, that's a mouthful.' Smokey blinked. She wasn't even going to try to repeat that, she had no idea how that would come out using telepathy. 'Can I call you just Klaudya?'

'I'm Smokey,' she introduced herself. 'Like smoky quartz. See?' She pointed at the rather large crystal embedded in her chest with her thumb. 'I'm a shadow,' she added, as if that explained everything.

"Klaudya is fine." Setting aside the graphic books she had picked up she leaned forward looking at Smokey's soul stone. "A shadow huh? That's interesting."

A spirit then, a shade. It made sense but why was an animate shadow... a corporeal shade, interacting with her directly. Shouldn't things be a little different? Well it was a child spirit, there was a chance that the creature wasn't aware it was dead.. That could be useful.

"Well Smokey, I'll buy you a book, pick one out... then maybe you can show me to where Oliver Turnkey has his booth setup today?" She spoke referring to a gypsy like vendor that dealt in the abnormal and enchanted.

'You said you'd buy three,' Smokey reminded her, and crossed her arms across her chest. What with her harem pants and the golden jewelry she looked a bit like a miniature djinn. 'Then I'll maybe remember where I saw Olly's booth.'

Leaning away from the little beast, she nodded, the information hadn't been as valuable as what she had hoped for. But Smokey had answered. "Two then, and the third when I find Oliver."

Smokey frowned and her red eyes seemed to gleam a little brighter despite the fact she kept to the shadow the awning offered.. 'Three you said. Four if I show you to Olly's booth because you were trying to cheat me.'

"Only a fool pays for services in advance. Go ahead and pick them out, I'll buy the four and hold onto the last one as payment, and give it to you after we get to his booth."

The adolescent cast a casual eye over the stalls around them, she didn't need Smokey but the interaction with such an odd bit of creation was entertaining, and she didn't really need money, it was her mother's anyway, so what did it matter? Comic's were cheap.
