CAMPER FORM
Name: Marcus Hassan-Germain
Alias: Marc
Age: 12
Gender: Dude
Powers: Hydrokinesis
Aura: Royal Blue (traditional) (#002366), Royal Purple (#7851A9), low frequency
Appearance: Light brown skin, Black-blue hair with white bangs. Shaggy hair that covers right eye, reaches shoulders and probably hasn't been cut in a while. Blue eyes. Wears green and blue plaid shirt, dark green pants, brown boots. Lanky with a long face, looks like he's been mildly upset by something he's been told yet accept his fate.
Personality:
Shy: Marcus doesn't like to draw attention to himself for various reasons, one is that obviously going from normal to 'super powered' is a tad jarring and kind of ruins your ability to be super open, and the fact no one else in his family has the same 'skills' he does has set the boy to be a bit more reluctant to embrace himself and others than most. He enjoys being seen but not heard and while he is fine in groups, being the center of attention is just a bit much for him. He prefers being a side character not the main. When he's put in such situations he tends to be curt and evasive holding out until his time in the spotlight is over.
Hard working: He has a genuine want to be useful. 'Gifted' or not, Marcus had a need to prove he can do things and will someday be worthy of praise and not the burden he thinks he is right now. Each day he gives it all he has to improve and be the best he can be. He wants to get his goals both for himself, and for those he loves. He just wanted to be better. Plus, lacking control over water is just a bit terrifying to say the least.
Impressionable: The more self control a person has, especially when they have natural born powers like himself, the greater respect Marcus has for them. For those with abilities, he is in constant awe of their skills and the control over them. For peers he fawns needlessly, and often feels inferior to them, but counters this with the mindset of 'if they can do it so can I'. Power and self control leave great and lasting impressions on Marcus. From them, he bases his views of people. Powered individuals are by far the ones most easily seen with this having an effect on him. Otherwise, it's self control in the sense of actions, like not eating all the chips. Or being able to push onward and finish that project even if it kind of sucks. If you have a lot of skills and good control, Marcus will take what you say as truth, hang upon your words and in general, be very open to suggestion.
Level headed: One of the first things Marcus was able to control was how he handled himself under stress. Fazing him or making him get mad or 'losing his cool' are rare events, but when they happen, they happen with ...interesting results to say the least. (Good example: He was holding a water bottle once when a girl told him she 'Thought he was kind of cute'. He freaked, and the end result was that the water in the bottle heated up and then bottle exploded, soaking him and really hurting his hand). This only slightly extends to his shy behavior as in the end, he will remain nervous, but acting rashly is not in his nature. And while he's impressionable, if something isn't logical or it requires him to just jump into something, Marcus will still hesitate to mull it over, or need a bit extra convincing to have him do whatever it is.
History:
It's not that his family wasn't open and supportive, it was just that they were a bit too supportive in their efforts to not make him feel like an outsider in his own family. From an early age, when he didn't even have his powers, Marcus's parents praised him highly, thinking the world of their son.
Angela and Martin had no other children, so spoiling Marcus was natural to them. However, they both were and are in young love, struggling to raise their son who really is not much like their loud boisterous selves. Both writers, they have a flair for all things and are easily excitable. Something Marcus.. isn't. He takes after his Aunt Rosie, a reserved bank teller who just comes by on holidays and exchanges mild pleasantries and gives Marcus socks every Christmas. He liked her and preferred her visits to those of his other relatives, who are just as loud and demanding as his parents. Being the only child, Marcus feels that he must be perfect for them, and tends to over analyze and fret if he's meet their expectations. The joke is on him as they honestly have none. Or rather they didn't.
With the onset of his powers, came an onset of expectations that Marcus did not want. A simple incident- spilling a pitcher of water would have been written off he'd not made said water just sort of hang there for a little while and do nothing. Just hang out in the middle of the kitchen while Marcus stared at it, hand outstretched. Both his parents looking at their son like he'd grown two heads. He'd fled to his room, terrified of what had just happened while his mother and father went to their room to have a very serious talk about what they just witnessed.
End result? All too supportive parents and all to high of expectant hopes in their son's abilities and that he'd master them like one would a school subject.
They pressure him to explore his abilities, to test himself and get better. They want him to show off and be proud. He was just getting ready to enter middle school. If there was one thing he didn't want, it was to be different and weird. Yet his parents pushed and pushed until finally, Marcus broke down. A dinner conversation how he could maybe one day use his powers a job had him reaching the boiling point. He didn't want his life directed for him, and he hardly had control of his powers anyway.
The sudden breakdown over a dinner that ended with their son storming up to his room and not speaking to them for a week had the two parents doing what any good parent did.
Look for help.
That was how they ended up hearing about the camp. It sounded good, and a perfect fit for their son. Give him structure. Away from school. Them. New faces. With kids who also had powers like him. Marcus agreed on one condition. They'd stop harassing him about his powers and let HIM deal with them, sort through what he wanted to do about them. If after a month he wanted to come home, he could, no questions.
His parents accepted telling him they knew he'd not regret trusting them.
Joke was on them. Marcus didn't but he liked the sound of going to a camp. Mostly because he had just never been camping before.
Plans: Make him into a gosh darn GI Joe I AM MOUNTAIN MAN HEAR ME ROAR
