"Sacrifices..?" Mystic said slowly with a quizzical look that rapidly turned to horror and disgust. There was also something about slaughtering small animals that seemed strangely familiar, and he was not appreciative of it.

"Uh huuuh," he went on as he listened to her speak. He idly glanced over towards the busted display case. "Yeah. The shop is here," he replied, "I'm here to maintain these portals and look after... things." He waved his hand and the portals flared brighter for a moment before they could close.

That's when a thought struck him. If Amy could see the shop now, that meant the wards were broken. That wasn't a good thing. It made him wonder if that was the entire point of Ezra showing up. "Of course it was," he muttered under his breath, lost in thought.

Amy nodded. "For our God," she elaborated. "I would gladly ask Him to smite this evil person you speak of. But unfortunately, without a vessel to bear his form, our Lord is currently in a greatly weakened state." She tilted her head, her legs swinging slightly back and forth as she curiously eyed the portals.

"Where is my brother?" she asked innocently, the question seemingly coming out of nowhere.

Mystic stared over at Amy, confused. He wasn't sure what the hell she was talking about, and he really wasn't so sure he wanted to ask for clarification, either.

"To be perfectly honest," he said slowly, "I have no idea." He leaned back against the brick wall and closed his eyes for a moment. He really didn't know where any of the portals led.

He sat upright suddenly when he felt something land on his chest. He opened his eyes to find his shadow imp kitten staring him down. She head bumped him and purred before burrowing her way over against his neck to hide under his long hair. She often disappeared, but she always returned to him. He had a sneaking suspicion she was more than just an imp. She didn't behave like all the others.

"… oh. That's too bad." Amy slightly cocked her head, lips pressed together and disappointment written all over her face. "I haven't seen him since he visited me in the hospital." She had tried to find his house of course, now that she knew—or at least she'd thought she knew—where it was. It had turned out to be just as frustrating of an experience as it had been to try and find her way back to this shop. It was very confusing really.

Her disappointment vanished in an instant, however, the moment she spotted the shadow kitten. "Aw, that's adorable!" she exclaimed and held out her hand in hopes to lure the creature over so she could pet it. "Here, kitty kitty kitty~!"

"Her name is Grimma," Mystic replied. The kitten squirmed it's way across his shoulders to peek over at Amy with a look of curiosity. He winced a bit as he now noticed that her claws stung a bit. That was new.

He reached up to touch his face, curious. He shifted slightly so he could catch a glimpse of his reflection in what remained of the shop window. His eyes widened slightly. He looked like some zombie-ish thing being consumed by and bleeding darkness. And this chick was just calmly sitting next to him holding down a casual conversation?

He resisted the urge to blurt out his immediate thoughts on that situation and instead watched as Grimma tentatively nuzzled against one of Amy's outstretched hands.

"Aw, she's completely adorable," Amy cooed, gently petting the kitten.

"So," she asked after a little while, "basically you're stuck here watching over these portals?" Her raven-black brows furrowed with concern. "Do you have anything to eat?" She eyed the box which sat between them, quite possibly wondering if her God could do with one less sacrifice.

"That's basically the gist of it," Mystic replied. His head tilted to the head in thought as he regarded her question. "Hm. I ... don't normally eat?" he answered. He glanced down at his hands. They were no longer made of semi-opaque shadow but were instead actual skin and bone.

He flexed his fingers with a look of curiosity as he noticed that the designs on his hands weren't simply interesting swirls and dots but runes. "Interesting," he said aloud under his breath.

"You don't?" Amy blinked in surprise. "Not even souls?" Her companion certainly looked like he'd happily devour souls.

"Do you want to try?" she asked. "Not souls I mean, but actual food?" She paused, thinking. "There's a coffee shop a bit further down the street, they've got some pretty good cake. Cookies too. I could get some for us, if wouldn't mind watching over my sacrifices in the meanwhile?" She beamed at him expectantly.

"Uhm. I've never tried? And definitely a no-go on the souls," Mystic replied with a quizzical look before adding, "At least as ... far as I know." He ran a hand back through his hair with a look of wide-eyed concern. He seemed to be whatever kind of demon Reyna was. Or at least half. It was actually moreso the other mystery half of him that had him puzzled.

"That sounds nice," he conceded, "Just... be careful?" He knew he wasn't supposed to let her wander off, but just so long as she wasn't going too far away or hurling herself through a portal, he supposed it was okay. "I'll watch over your... sacrifices," he said slowly as he lightly pat the box. Poor bunnies...

"Oh, don't worry. The shop isn't far, and besides, this is a perfectly safe area," Amy declared cheerfully. She paused to look at the glass shards, and the broken shop window, and the scorched ground and tree where the lightning had struck, and the ominous looking portals. "At least," she said more slowly, "it usually is?"

She got up and smoothed out her long dress and carefully tugged her hooded cloak back into place. "If it eases your mind, I'm under divine protection. And I have a knife." She petted Mystic's shoulder. "I wont be gone for long."
