Published by Titan Books (not the previous publisher of the Mass Effect books, Del Rey Books), the books will be canonical and will function as prequels and sequels to in-game events. The books will reportedly focus on key characters and answer many questions fans have been asking.
The first book,
Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation, (written by fantasy author N.K. Jemisin) is due out in August 2016. The next three books are slated for release in March 2017, September 2017, and March 2018. Books two and three have yet to find authors, but the fourth title will be written by Mass Effect creative director and former lead writer Mac Walters.
So, what are your thoughts? Me, I'm skeptical (as I am with anything Mass Effect since the ending of the third game), as pretty much all external Mass Effect media after the second book have at best been 'eh, okay I guess' and 'dear Arceus, did anyone give this a once over?' at worst.
