Zack saw something stir in Mai as he looked at her and an ominous feeling fell over him. When she finally told him what it was, he did not question her. A part of him wanted to say that it was impossible for them to have gotten here so quickly, he knew she would not make this kind of thing up. He could see the worry in her eyes and quickly ran out the door without telling the council a word.
He quickly overtook Mai as he rushed down the hall. He made sure not to go too fast so she could keep up with him. He burst into the entrance hall and pushed open the doors. As he made his way down the stair, on of the guards came running up to him. "My lord, we have two-" The man did not get a chance to finish as Zack rushed by and navigated his way to the main gate. He pushed past the grad at the stairs the led to the top of the gate. When he finally reached the top and saw the girl he had known as the gem they had assisted in rescuing. The men had their weapons drawn and pointed at her. "Lower your weapons, now!" Zack yelled as the men hesitated. "But my Lord, the-" Zack cut the guard off with an angry look. "That was an order, captain." He said gritting his teeth as he tried to calm himself.
Most of these men had never seen Zack this angry and quickly dropped their weapons. The few that did know him better had already dropped their weapons. Zack moved close to the captain and spoke in a more calm but, still chilling tone. "If you ever question my orders again, you will be stripped of your rank. Do you understand me, Captain." Zack stared down at the man, who seemed to shrink in size as he looked back up at Zack. "Y-yes, my Lord." The man said before Zack walked past him to come face to face with the gem. "If I remember correctly, your name is Lyf. We never had the chance to be properly introduced. I am Zack and this is Mai." He looked down and saw the unconscious Edward and quickly noticed his missing arm. "You are welcome here. We have highly skilled physician that can treat your keeper and rooms for you to rest in. I am sorry for the lack of a warm welcome." He said, seeing that she was not pleased with the welcome she had received.
