December 2018 Username: Orangeish Sherbert Student Name: Cider Stage: Senior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Cider wasn’t really sure what was going on. In her opinion, Life Skills was a pretty important class to have…since it was obviously supposed to teach her skills that she would need when she graduated the Academy and moved on with her…
…Well her life.
She waited for a long while, almost ten minutes past class time, hoping that the headmaster would end up finding a substitute and they would be able to get on with class like normal but…it soon became clear that not only was Talfia not going to magically show up…but that there would be no substitute either. For a moment, Cider considered just walking out and heading back to her dorm…it would be a much better use of her time to work on something from another class…she was so utterly close to graduating after all…though…
Perhaps she could work on a new story? That would work out pretty well…and she had more than enough paper with her and the class was quiet enough, sure there were the few concerned whispers from the other students but…she could drown those out pretty easily.
Gently, the hybrid pulled a few sheets of loose leaf paper from inside of her bag and placed it in front of her, before drawing out a pen and biting her lip in thought. The real question was always what to write about.
She spent the rest of the class just staring at the paper and trying to come up with some ideas, and when the bell rang out signaling that the class was over, Cider looked up in utter dismay, glancing around and realizing she had wasted all of her time…doing absolutely nothing.
…and that didn’t seem like a life skill at all.

December 2018 Username: nasaiki Student Name: Leto Stage: junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: The red haired winged hybrid was running a little late to class but he should be able to make it before the last bell rang. However as eto walked into class and sat down he noticed something kind of worrying. Most of his class was busy chatting away or doing anything but getting prepared for class. Personally he knew enough about food to survive on his own and he was never really going to use sewing or the like so the fact the teacher wasn’t there meant that he could work on other things. He pulled out homework from another class and sat down happy to whittle away on the assignments due tomorrow. However he frowned when half the class was over and there still wasn’t any teacher. Well didn’t that mean with out a substitute or any sort teacher they were free to go? Well it wasn’t like he shared this class with Vega, he could leave to go to his room at the academy. However some teachers would still punish you for leaving so with a sigh he pulled out a book.
He should have probably wondered why the teacher was late but the teacher’s life was their own. He wasn’t one to pry. So ignoring the gossip he escaped into the world of the book. He was able to get a good chunk of it done before the bell rang. Well that was a wasted class but he was caught up on homework for the day. Hopefully the next time they had life skills the principal would have figured out the teacher problem.

December 2018 Username: nasaiki Student Name: Oiche Stage: senior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Oiche frowned when she walked in the classroom, it was loud and unruly as classrooms usually were when the teacher wasn’t in. However oiche wanted to give the life skill Professor the benefit of the doubt. However when it was obvious that their teacher wasn’t going to show, she sighed and pulled out her own books to work on. First they had that personality test that didn’t even fit with the hallowed hybrid but now the teacher was mia. She did briefly wonder where the teacher was and if the principal was going to let this pass. Then again maybe oiche was being to harsh. Maybe something really drastic had happened. Still it lowered her even low opinion of life skills and she went back to writing notes to talk to her dad about. Since oiche didn’t really have any friends she easily finished her homework at lunch. So study periods like this weren’t really helpful. It was just a waste of time and sparked gossip, or another annoying antics from her classmates. When was it that you could leave a classroom again.
Of course she didn’t dorm at the school, she went home every day so even if the class got canceled she was still stuck being bored.
She paused and looked down at the notes she had written about the book she was reading or attempting to read. Instead she had kind of written her thought she. Sighing she placed the book marker two pages back and ripped up the page. Utter waste of time.

For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Oran had actually gotten to class early and was a bit disappointed when the teacher didn’t seem to be showing up. However she didn’t let it go to waste either. This was life skills right so she went over and tried to see if she could scrounge up materials. If life skills wasn’t going to be taught by a teacher then she would teach herself.
She used her crystal pad to look up sewing plushie instructions and got to making plushies. This year she wanted to make something qamra and Micah would adore and now that she was a senior maybe she could weave a ghost repellent charm into something for Keres. She did mess up a couple of Times and pricked her fingers a lot since she was following random videos instead of being able to follow a teacher and ask questions but well there wasn’t a sit in and there was no teacher so it wasn’t as if she had much to work with. Eventually however she got into the hang of it and by the time class was done she had a small army of plushies.
With a weak laugh Oran gathered up her plushies and made a note that after school was done to day to check in with one of the stalls at the winter festival. After all maybe they needed more prizes, she wasn’t sure her contributions would be enough but one never knew until they tried. She actually felt kind of accomplished and she had done an activity that the class should have been about right?

December 2018 Username: nasaiki Student Name: Huginn Stage: junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Huginn hadn’t really noticed at all that the teacher hadn’t come in. If he had looked up from his phone he would have expressed some concern as it sounded like even the principal didn’t know what was going on but then huginn wasn’t one for gossip either. However no the hybrid was currently texting his older brother on the phone. It sounded as if one of his younger siblings, freyjr was sick. Now the hybrid wasn’t always glued to the phone either, in fact no matter how worried he would have been he knew muninn had a free period and would have dealt with it so when the teacher would have shown up he would have put the phone down and been a good student.
He did look up briefly to see the principal mention they where looking for a sit in but really that would only just turn this class into a study hall at best. He supposed it was better than having to take that personality test he had heard about but really he tended to keep on top of his studies so it wasn’t like he really needed a study period.
Maybe after he finished this conversation with his older brother he could think about gifts, after all it was getting close to that day. Back on to the topic he was texting about, it sounded like his mother yue was going to take the day off and come get fre. He hoped his younger brother was feeling better soon, it was hard being sick when everyone else was trying to be festive and huginn knew freyjr would hate that everyone was worrying over him and not having fun.

CURRENT MONTH 2018 Username: Porcelain Pinch Student Name: Jane Stage: Junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: The teacher was...absent. Jane was used to there being a substitute when the teacher wasn't available. But to have the teacher not around at all....that was weird. Other students started mumbling, talking amongst themselves as the clock ticked past the usual time that the class started. Still no sign of the teacher. Jane turned around...just where were they? Getting a late lunch? Stuck in some carriage traffic? Her lips twitched into a frown. Jane would have liked to think that she wouldn't have cared, would have even been happy to have her not here. But then that just didn't feel...right.
Anxious, she took out a few of the rocks that she always kept with her and played with them in her hand. She hoped the teacher was okay...
What was she going to do with her freetime now? She gently placed the rocks on the table making sure each one was accounted for. It wasn't like her to talk much. Usually she was the type to only talk when they're spoken to. It wasn't uncommon for her to not speak a word for the whole day if she didn't see Lilly. And it wasn't like she could walk out right now and find some more rock friends. What if the teacher were to come right back in?
She could...at least work on a bit of homework? It would make her dad proud at least. She grabbed her backpack and grabbed a few sheets of her homework. Teachers never seemed to think they wanted a life outside of school. It was lame. She wanted to explore. Doing equations and answering problems limited the time outside...when she decided to do it.
She picked up her pen and got to work. This would at least make up for her poor grades right now.

CURRENT MONTH 2018 Username: Porcelain Pinch Student Name: Ezekiel Stage: Junior Prompt: When the teacher was away, Ezekiel was bound to play. He wasn't going to miss such a rare opportunity. Usually he had to at least scare off substitutes to have any fun. Right now? He didn't have to scare off another adult replacement. He didn't have to do extra work. He was blissfully, free.
"Hey, think they have the answers to the next test behind the desk?" his voice boomed over the other lingering nightmares as he moved over towards said area. If no one wasn't going to check it out, he sure as heck was going to. Zeke was never one to waste such a great opportunity. Unfortunately, they apparently were well prepared for any pesky student getting in. Their drawers were locked. He tried booting up the computer, no dice. The password wasn't password. It wasn't 12345678. It wasn't the academy's name, nor was it the teach's name. Shoot. He gave a huff and pushed back, twirling around in the chair.
Well, he could always draw on the whiteboard. A malicious grin spread across his face as he eyed a sharpie on the teacher's desk. He swooped up the pen with gusto, drawing a few obscene faces on the white surface. Have fun trying to get that off. He snickered to himself. They wouldn't know what to do with it. How to solve it. The junior hybrid plopped back down in his seat and put his feet up. "This is my realm now." he sneered at the rest of the class. "And my word is law." The sound of the bell rang, making the students that were left quickly scatter.
Or maybe it wasn't. Didn't mean he couldn't torture the next class with his rule.
The teach should be out more often.

CURRENT MONTH 2018 Username: Porcelain Pinch Student Name: Liv Stage: Senior Prompt: Liv impatiently drummed her fingers down against the desk. Just where was the teacher? Were they so inept that they slept through their alarms? Did they even set an alarm to begin with? A frown creased the edges of Liv's mouth. It was already five minutes past. Where were they?!
"This is ridiculous," she muttered underneath her breath. A few of the neighboring students eyed her but didn't say anything. It was life skills! They were so close to graduation, this information was vital to surviving outdoors. Did they not think to get a substitute?
"Oh where are the lesson plans." she got up, slamming her large slaugh hands down on her desk before briskly striding over to the desk. If the teacher wasn't going to be there to teach, she was going to teach in their place. Shouldn't be too hard. Liv thought of herself as extremely adept at teaching others and being a fountain of knowledge. This should be a piece of cake. Nothing on the desk. Great. Did the teacher even plan their lessons? Oh she was going to have a word with the front office about this. As soon as class ended, of course. She eyed a few students leaving with disdain. "Anyone else who leaves gets their name written on the board." she took an expo marker and started jotting down the names of the other students that left. At least, that's what she thought their names were. "The teacher may still come back." She hoped that they would come back.

February 2019 Username: Aria Starstone Student Name: Niamh Stage: Junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response:
Niamh sat quietly at the back of the Life Skills class, wondering where the teacher was. It had been ten minutes already, and it was really strange that their teacher was not here yet. She did not think she had ever had a teacher be this late without an actual substitute showing up. She wished Sathe was here... Without a teacher to keep the class under control, it was likely to get rowdy, and some of the bullies who scared her the most were in this classroom. She began to breath a little heavily, trying not to have a panic attack at the idea that the teacher would not show up at all.
Finally, she managed to calm herself down enough to not just completely panic, and she considered, then dug out her book on Flitterrat illnesses. She settled herself back in her chair, cracked open her book and began to read... Though after a minute, she also dug out a personal notebook, and put the one for the class back into her messenger bag, and began to take notes as she read, her expression serious. She got very focused, in fact, and stayed that way for the entire rest of the class, managing to get through three chapters in the time they had.
She was so focused that when the bell rang to signal the end of class, Niamh jumped in her seat, almost smearing her ink, and looked around, startled to realize class was over and no teacher had ever shown up. She packed her bag up, baffled, but headed off to her next class, grateful she had at least managed to make good use of the unexpected time.

April 2019 Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Sylkie Von Stage: Junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Sylkie Von stared at the empty teacher’s desk, then at the clock and back again. Teacher hadn’t shown up and now all the kids were sitting around or gathering in small groups. Sylkie was sitting at her desk wondering what to do to occupy her time till a substitute could be brought in by the principal. She picked through her bag, digging around for the book she was currently reading during her lunch breaks. It was a fantasy novel about swords and magic, typical for the genre, but still a good book.
She flicked her ears around to listen for the door to the class being opened as she started reading. No point in her being bored, she decided she might as well put the extra time to use finding out what would happen next. Would the princess rescue her brother and stop the evil duke from taking over the kingdom? Time to read on and discover more in this land that existed only in her imagination. Sylkie was drawn in, eyes flickering back and forth faster and faster.
Before she knew it, she’d already finished three chapters and still no sign of a sub for the class. The principal sure was taking their sweet time to find one. She shrugged her shoulders and put her book away for now. She didn’t want to finish it before lunch time or she’d have nothing to read. She dropped it back in her bag and dig around for her notebook so she could doodle some art for a little while.

April 2019 Username: belloblossom Student Name: Rosalie Stage: Senior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: Even throughout all this time of being in her classes, Rosalie still found herself surprised when her teacher didn't show up to class. With no substitute in the room either, not even a teacher's assistant really, Rosalie found herself staring mournfully from her front row seat. How was she supposed to pass the class if the teacher didn't show up and teach them anything? She didn't want to be the cause of everyone's dislike, however, so she remained in her seat. Besides, supposedly someone would be coming to teach them, even if it took them forever to get here. Would the period be over by the time a replacement was found?
Other students were chatting around her, some were even ditching their class. Rosalie watched the clock. If Miss Talfia or her replacement for the day didn't arrive in the next ten minutes, Rosalie might go down that route too. Not to ditch her studies all together, goodness no, but to at least to study in the library, away from all the background noise in favor of some quiet. Or perhaps she could go soak up some sunlight outside for a bit. In the meantime, she fiddled with her pencil. She tapped it on her desk, in time to the clock mounted on the wall. She was counting the seconds. Then, an unusual thought came to her: Was this some sort of life still in itself?
Were they being texted to see what would happen if their teacher didn't show up? Or maybe their teacher had woken up with a nasty hangover and didn't want to come in at all, meaning that Rosalie, not for the first time, would be reading too much into something. She looked around at her classmates and sighed. If this was a test, would they pass if they left or if they stayed? If it wasn't, she could get some actual productive studying in. She didn't know what to do. At least she had six more minutes to decide.

April 2019 Username: Panda Moor Student Name: Caper Stage: Junior Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response:
While the Geist completely understood teachers had a life of their own, it made the contents of his stomach turn to think about someone missing class. Granted, his girlfriend Wednesday was a regular truancy case, but that didn't mean she didn't put his nerves through the ringer each time. Caper honestly didn't know what to do with this freedom in his Life Skills class.
Previously, they had learned to do some basic work with a needle and thread, and as the other students flocked to both more chaotic and quieter activities, the boy was drawn to the box of scraps in the corner. Most of it was reject pieces from their last project but... Caper hadn't been bad at sewing? He liked designing things like his mother Evan, and he could always use this time to make something cute for Wednesday. She had been good to him lately, being there as the news came that Nausicaa was moving in.
Picking random scraps from here and there, Caper found himself the tools he needed to begin cutting and sewing. He didn't have much in mind, his stitches a bit erratic as he decided on the go what he was doing. He felt obligated to keep busy and meet the expectations of class after all!
By the time the bell rang, Caper had constructed a crude felt doll of a chimera. It was vaguely colored like Wednesday in a patch work quilt sort of way, but it clearly had wings and a tail. He had found some bright blue thread too and had carefully sewn some almost circular beady eyes, and some other fringe details on the end.
At the last minute though as he prepared to leave class it dawned on him - did he just make basically a voodoo doll of his own girlfriend?!

June 2019 Username: SSBrosB Student Name: Talia Stage: Prompt: It seems that the teacher didn't show up for class today, and the Headmaster is trying to find a sit-in substitute. For the mean-time, the class is unsupervised. You're left to your own devices, but the freedom won't last forever. What do you do with your fleeting time?
Response: The clock continued to tick as the time went farther and farther away from when class was supposed to start. Talia double-checked her email and to see if she had written down that the teacher, or the students, were supposed to be somewhere else today. Some had the same idea she did, but others decided that they would continue talking as though class hadn’t already started. She couldn’t blame them for taking advantage of the situation though. The teacher wasn’t here, no substitute was here, it wasn’t as if they were learning anything new right now since no one was there to teach them.
She sighed and realized that there had been no warnings or notes that she had written down telling her that there wasn’t supposed to be a teacher here today. They were supposed to come like usual, so now it was up to the teacher to come and inform them, or some other teacher to come in or email them to tell them that either class is canceled, or they are currently trying to find a substitute.
So, in the meantime, Talia decided that she would continue to read the story that she had started a couple of days before in the time they had before whomever was supposed to come, came. The book was quite thick and she could have finished the book in less than a day, but that didn’t mean that she would be able to get everything else done that she needed to do, which is why she often put a timer on her reading time, or else it would go on forever!
