An oak tree on the outskirts of town. It provides plenty of shade throughout the hot summers and is rumored to be a memorial and grave for an ex-council member.

It'd been almost a whole year since her death. Amos had seen many people come and go, live and die. Why should one more death matter in the grand scheme of life? Still, the aging man visited the giant oak tree he had planted on that fateful night. Amos breathed a long sigh as he stood underneath the shelter of the oak tree's limbs. While he had only planted it a year ago, the tree looked as though it had been there for years. A tall sturdy oak sitting out alone on a giant plot of empty land. There were rumors that an ex-council member's body was buried at the spot, and they would be right according to Amos.

Looking over, Amos spied the crown of mushrooms marking the mass grave he had dug a year ago as well. Bodies of the damned brought back to life for infernal nefarious deeds by Lily Aides. Amos bowed his head under the branches of the oak. There was a brief sense of longing in his heart. A solid green jewel dangling from his neck reminded him of the partner he had lost all too soon. Another innocent life lost to the crossfire of his job. And no one would know of Amos' deeds to stop Lily, potentially save humanity, and continue the status quo of life. It was just one of the many perks of Amos' job as a supernatural hunter. No one knew and no one cared. The white haired hunter breathed a sigh as he rubbed the jewel around his neck a few times.

Although most of Janhall's citizen's had moved on with reconstruction and healing after the nightmare caused by Lily, there were many who still suffered. Relatives and friends of the dead; Those the evil goddess murdered and those she disrupted when she raised souls from the dead to fight in a desperate attempt at a battle. Her war had been lost, and her life taken by a brave man and returned to Hades, but the pain she caused and the chaos she spread could still be felt in the hearts of her victims...But out here, underneath the young oak tree fueled by magic and care, one could find a sense of peace and calmness. Perhaps that's why it made for a good burial ground. Maybe, the dead could finally rest here, never to be bothered by Lily again. The tree swayed lightly in the breeze, it's branches and leaves soaking up the warm sun. It was a day Katrina would have loved. But she was gone, killed by Lily's own hand and buried by Amos'. He had done well, laying to rest the genie and the many others who passed.

Yet, as Amos rubbed the jewel that hung around his neck, he changed the course of the future, and unveiled yet another surprise the universe had hidden away until this very moment. Amos knew the jewel, an emerald, was no ordinary trinket. He had been told of its importance by the town's own mayor and council; it was believed to be one of the stones that held down the veil, so that humans and monsters alike could cross in and out of Janhall. But the emerald was a fake, a copy cat that Katrina had worn in her life for two reason. First, to keep the true gem safe and out of harm's way, and secondly, to keep her own personal 'lamp' on her at all times. As a descendant of genies, Kat had been taught as a child about the importance of a lamp. It was a lost art from a lost race, but that knowledge had saved her life.

...Sort of.

Katrina's life had ended. Her genie blood wasn't pure enough to completely save her form within in the stone that was her lamp, but her soul had been reincarnated into another world where her new body and mind lived for over a century. She could have remained there forever, and she would have, but her lamp had been rubbed, and her soul was being summoned back into the world that she had once called home. The world where Amos now stood, underneath the oak tree.

The jewel shone brightly as a thin line of smoke rolled out from within the jewel, its colors swirling as it slowly took hold a shape; that of a woman. She looked different than Katrina had. Her skin seemed to shine where the sun broke through the tree's branches, and her face seemed harder, like that of a warrior who'd long grown tired of fighting but knew the necessity of leadership. Yet, there was an undeniable likeness to Katrina. Her hair still flowed down her back in waves, and she still seemed to emit a feeling of welcoming and kindness, which only grew as the smoke continued to gain a corporal form. The gem's light grew brighter until it was near blinding, its heat rising sharply until suddenly, it released a loud bang! The stone had cracked. The last of the smoke dissipated and the woman fell from her spot in the air to land in the grass, unconscious and undressed. Her breathing was ragged and labored, her chest heaving as she writhed with the pain of impending suffocation. Without her lamp, she was in trouble. It had broken before she was completely returned to the world, and her chances of survival were now entirely in the hands of a lone hunter.

The hunter looked down when he saw little smoking lines rising from his neckline. Soon, the necklace begin to shift and form. The little green jewel turned all sorts of shades and shapes. But most of all, it cooked like a hot potato. The jewel nearly threatened to burn the hunter and he quickly cast the jewel onto the ground near the oak tree. The jewel morphed into a familiar shape. He recognized this person. "Kat?!" Amos gasped. A loud bang occurred and struck the tree with several fragments of the jewel. In an instant, Amos was on the ground next to the nude female. As the smoke and light faded away, Amos could truly see who in front of him. "She...you're not Kat." The man said cradling the beautiful nude woman in his arms.

It was only moments later the aging hunter took notice of the situation at hand. This person was of the genie race. Without her vessel, she was vulnerable a newborn babe. Amos had to do something, his conscience wouldn't hear of it. He would have to act fast. The hunter retrieved a small pocket knife from the pocket of his coat. The took the blade of the knife and dug it into the palm of his flesh and then the same as the fair genie. Amos took his bleeding hand in the woman's, joining them together before Amos hoist the fair skinned beauty's limp up and muttering some chant. "Forgive me." The hunter whispered as he press his lips into the woman's. What happened next could only be described by the eye itself.

The woman's fair body shined into a blinding. And, with a flash of searing light and ear shattering bang, The woman disappeared into smoke. Amos fell over, completely stunned by the impromptu flashbang. The hunter fell onto his back and slipped into unconsciousness. Back into the lone forest of his mind. Surrounded by trees and left with the light of a lone fire. The cloud of smoke trailed its way into both Amos' lungs and wound. She too, would join him in his dream.

Amani'ruya had been worshipped in her life. She was tied for control of her land, and had nothing to fear in the world she had risen to power in...which is why she never could have expected her fate to take such a drastic turn. She had remembered being Katrina for only a few brief seconds as she was reborn in Neirva-ani'eth....So why was she remembering it all? Why now? She had no idea what was happening to her, but as the pain of her lamp breaking began to subside, she was forced to understand what was going on.

She was becoming Katrina, once more. The following minutes of agony proved it to be true. She felt the pain of being stabbed numerous times. Her flesh felt like it was on fire, and her sight was blinded from the pain of being torn open by every wound Lily had left for her. She felt her head slam into the ground, and felt the world around her spin just as she had when Lily had murdered her. But the last blow she felt was the worst of all. The sensation of a sword sliding into her chest. It was the strike Amos had used to finally kill Lily, but it had been Kat's body that took it, and so now, Amani had to bear that pain.

Yet, as soon as it had all begun, it ended.

The pain was gone, although Amani/Kat was sure her voice would be hoarse for days to come, she opened her eyes and tried to speak. "H-hello?" Sure enough, she had barely managed to speak at a whisper, and a coughing fit overtook her for several moments as she recovered. Eventually, she was able to sit up, confusion setting in among her shock as she took in her surroundings. The air around her felt suffocating, yet empty, stifling but cool on her skin. She closed her eyes, tucking her head in her hands as she realized, with perfect clarity, that she was so very far from home...or maybe, she was too close.

The confines of Amos' mind was like the dark forest Dante lost himself in. Only a lone fire in the center of small pit stood with the hunter tendering to its needs. Suddenly, the white hair man heard a rustling from behind him. Amos took a branch and set it alight before heading off into the forest to find the noise. The lit branch would his only mode of defense against what he might find in the dark forest. "Hello?" Amos called out into the dark. "Is someone there?" The aging man felt an almost excited anxiety with his current events. What was he to do with this? The hunter scoured the safe parts of the forest for the sound. Where was it? An enemy who had travel too far from its home? Another visitor? Or, maybe someone who was willing to stay longer than a little while like the others?

It took some time, but eventually, Amani stood up. She was worried about her predicament. She was confused and concerned, her own mind feeling like it was split in two. Katrina had been level headed and kind, but in the end, it had brought her death. Amani, on the other hand, had been tough, brash, and straight forward. She had reigned as a vessel for the gods but now...now she was forced to confront her memories as Kat.

Not that anything mattered right now. In this second, her instinct for survival was first. She was in danger of dying, she knew. So she walked, her footsteps slow as she tried to make sense of where she was. It felt like she was on the move for hours, or maybe it was just minutes when she suddenly came upon another person. He looked older than she did, and although it was clear that he was a fighter, skilled and dangerous, Amani could feel in her gut that he could be trusted...yet she knew that anything in the world could just be a well hidden lie. She continued to stare at the man, Amos, without a single word. Her emotions were a strange mix of curiosity and doubt, and yet she felt herself take another step closer.

In the shadows of the dark forest, Amos spotted the visitor. A fit young girl with beautiful chestnut hair. A similar hue to Amos' younger days. However, this girl was in terrible condition. Amos approached the girl slowly as she did too. It was then that the hunter remembered. "Ah, yes. You." He said, easing himself and letting his guard down. Amos held the torch in his hand at a distance to the girl. "Now I remember. You're the one who came out of the jewel. Follow me. We got some things to talk about." Amos motioned for the girl to follow him toward his campfire and out of the dark shadows of the deeper forest. The hunter had completely put aside how vulnerable his guest looked. The sudden calmness in Amos' stride could only mean that he knew something she didn't. The sway of trees overhead creaked as invisible wind breezed by and with them, the sounds of noises from deeper within the forest.
