He'd been tense since the attack. Well over a month since the catastrophe, Seraphinite had become all the more intent on keeping an eye on Jet and Aquamarine--and Lace. Though having the kitten around had become almost... typical to him by that point. It felt a bit strange to not have her weight in his jacket, warm body against his chest as he moved through the streets. Earlier that day he'd stopped by a sweets shop of all things, picked up a random arrangement bag for Easter and left it in the part of his closet the guardian had apparently commandeered before heading out for patrol.

The random treats felt... required. Though he wasn't sure what he could give to Ilian or Lovely to surpass them, take the edge off the recent events... apologize for his ********> But he'd figure something out.

His power radar went off as he hit one of the numerous parks in the city. This one consisted of numerous hedges forming mazes, even in their leafless state. In spring and summer, a few would even show their more animal shapes with the help of gardeners. Not a bad place to hang out for a while during the day, but at night? It was yet another hunting ground.

Moving carefully through the maze paths lined by hedges and pale concrete blocks, he searched for the source of the Order signature he felt. Senshi. His fists balled as he thought back to how the ******** had infested their castle. Some ******** payback was in order...

She had still not recovered, not really. She had barely had any physical wounds to speak of, but the mental and emotional trauma of that hellish night still weighed on her. She was sure, sooner or later her roommate was going to ask her what was up, and she still had no idea how to explain to her blue haired older friend... or her family... or anyone... What her head felt like.

A part of her, something solid and real, had died that night. She liked to think of it as her innocence. Not the foolish notion of innocence that people held, where an innocent is completely naive, because she had not been naive, she knew what she had been getting into (had she really though?). So many people had died... She had been unable to do anything but lay there and cry like a useless child.

But no more... Even as her heart went up into her throat at the feel of the Chaos signature entering her senses, even as she felt her palms begin to sweat, her stomach roil. She would not run. She would not back down. She would stand her ground and she would face this demon that had been tormenting her dreams for weeks on end.

Her body fell into a naturally defensive stance and she cleared her throat, not sure what to say in the face of this new threat.

Already somewhat familiar with the range of individuals wrapped up in the ******** up misconceptions of Order, Seraphinite had only been so surprised to see someone so young in a defensive stance not far from him as he rounded a final corner of part of the maze into a more open area.

Not much younger than himself. He'd seen younger, knew that children were taken up into the murderous ranks of senshi. Pale eyes narrowed as he watched her. Ready for a fight. Knew enough to prepare for combat, knew enough to figure how this was going to go down.

Seraphinite didn't bother bringing out the wooden swords strapped at his hips. His fists and feet were enough. Nothing about his expression screamed hostility. Nothing in his pose or hulking frame roared his rage. Watching this red-suited child, he rolled his shoulders, lungs inflated as he took a breath...

And then Seraphinite darted forward without a word, throwing a fist forward to test how quick his opponent could move.

Sabine had been surprised when the signature came into view and was in fact a person and not some twisted monster. Her face may have softened for a moment, guilt wracking her again as she started to open her mouth to speak. She had always been a talker first - if someone could potentially be saved.

But then suddenly he was charging her, fist forward and her mouth clamped shut in a hard, skull rattling clamp as the fist impacted her square in the stomach. Gasping in pain, and with sudden lack of air, she stumbled back dizzily.

Sabine was not a fighter - not really. She wasn't prepared for a direct confrontation. But now, again, she found herself back into a fight - and one she knew... she knew... would be for her life.

Eyes welled up with tears and she gasped out. "Why...?" clutching at her torso she did her best to stay away from him now, to get distance, to find something with which to defend herself.

He hadn't actually expected his fist to hit. Or rather, he'd anticipated some sort of retaliation... something. But the freaking kid didn't even try to defend herself. Instead she backed up, trying to get distance from him. Seraphinite straightened, loomed and stared down at her without a glimmer of sympathy in his dark features. She asked why...

"You're a senshi." He stated it matter-of-factly, as if it should have been the most obvious thing in the world. His heavy boots crunched in the dirt as he began to move towards her again, this time at a much slower pace. Waiting to see what she'd do. Was she prepping her magic..? He wasn't sure if he wanted to get too close to soon, or if she was just trying to bide time. "You attacked our home." That time, his voice came out as a hostile snarl, lips curling as his body took on a far more predatory stance. "The punishment should fit the crime."

"Yes... we did..." Sabine said, continuing to scuttle back, tripping on something unseen in the grass and falling on her rear with a loud thump. She continued to move backward as quickly as she could. "I... we... my group... We didn't want to hurt anyone... We just wanted to strike at a soft target... leave... We found a cache of starseeds... people's souls... we liberated them..."

She looked up at him, her fingers grabbing what she hoped was a fallen stick of some sort from a nearby tree. Sucking in a breath, she looked him right in the eyes.

"In the barracks... Something caught fire... Negaverse agents screaming they were trapped - couldn't teleport because they were locked behind doors...." She could smell the smoke again, hear the voices screaming.

"I didn't leave until I was sure that stupid crystal thing was broken... till I was sure everyone could get out... I didn't want anyone to die - to get hurt..."

She hurled the stick at him then, as hard as she could at his head before getting back on her feet. "Then I got to watch and listen to many more people die as we tried to leave... You think... You think I wanted any of that to happen?! I couldn't even fight! I huddled around the starseeds I saved and I listened to people die... Do you even know how that feels!?"

"You endangered the injured in the ******** first place by invading our land." The tears in her eyes, nor her story, didn't exactly inspire any sympathy from the Negaverse lieutenant. Her claims of not meaning to hurt people, and of even making a point to bring up how they'd saved the very agents they'd endangered in the first place only deepened his sneer.

And then she had the audacity to throw a ******** branch at his head. Seraphinite was able to get his arms up in time to block the stick from hitting his head, but gave a grunt at the impact against his forearms. Lowering his arms, his eyes were pinprick lights of warning as she tried to validate her actions in Negaspace.

For a moment, the lieutenant was silent. His only movement was the slight rise and fall of his shoulders as he breathed. "I'll grant you that no one seems to be aware of what they're getting into when they awaken into this war." Seraphinite's voice was firm, but not in the least bit friendly. "Yet we continue to take these forms, these identities. You went into Negaspace willingly. You joined with others whom were willing to kill the injured and unprotected, killed one of our leaders, and invaded our home. Do you expect sympathy after you willingly walked into a situation you should have logically known would end in a bloodbath?"

The young man gave a snort. The predatory stance... relaxed. His eyes and voice however, remained brittle. Hostile. "I'll give you one chance, out of respect for the agents whose lives you helped save. Leave. Get out of my sight, and I will not pursue. It is not a chance I will give again." He hated even doing this. Was grateful Jet nor Aquamarine were present. But his... morals. Demanded he give something in return for what she'd done.

The retribution for her invasion however. That would come.

"I don't... need... or want... your pity..." Sabine found herself... shouting. She wasn't sure why his sudden dismissal of their fight had her so wound up, but she was... angry. She knew she stood no chance against him in an actual fight - not one-on-one at any rate. He was already stronger, and faster than she could ever hope to be. But a part of her... her pride... was stung that he would let her walk away. Even if it was out of respect for lives she saved.

"I just want peace... Is that so much to ask? Yeah, we make a mistake going into... your home... I will be the first to admit that. We didn't know what we were going to walk into, and some of the people on our side are crazy, same can be said of yours!" Her voice was cracking and she knew she was sobbing now and didn't care.

"I just want this stupid war to end so we can stop fighting! That's the only reason I went, to try and put your side in a position where pushing for peace was the only logical response. We messed up... I messed up... People died.. got hurt... And I..."

"We should have never gone in there in the first place, but I'm not going to have you pity me just because we didn't succeed. So if you wanna punish me, then come and fight me - be the monster I know your kind is."

Her self-righteousness made him roll his eyes. "Grow the ******** up." He'd give her credit for her passion. But her misguided tears and damn near ******** temper tantrum negated any possible points she might have gained. "Peace will never exist so long as both sides call for retribution. Either one side will have to surrender, or the other must simply wipe their enemies out." He was losing his interesting fighting such a childish girl. Though knocking some sense into her was highly tempting.

Seraphinite turned his back on the child, shaking his head. "Your kind killed my best friend's older brother. In front of us. Your kind would have killed us, civilians, had we not joined the Negaverse. They offered us protection from your kind. Go home, little girl," he added as he sighed, voice tired. "Want peace? Don't want to keep fighting? Stop powering up. You won't get your peace unless you ignore the war, or grow the ******** up to do what you have to and acknowledge that to get peace no one wins the way you seem to want people to."

Slowly, the Negaverse agent began to walk away. He didn't want to fight this ******** child. If she tried to press her luck? Fine. So be it. But he'd let her show her kind's colors as monsters first, before he shoved it down her throat.

Grow up? Grow up?! Blood began to pound in her ears. Oh, she heard everything he had to say, listened intently even. Her blood was boiling though, as he turned his back on her and told her to never power up again and basically leave the world to suffer by their hands."

"I should grow up?" She hissed out, voice rising into a shrill octave that was almost painful to her own ears. "What was the name of this senshi that killed your friend's brother? Do you know? How do you know it wasn't just some trick of the Negaverse to lure you in hmm? I've spoken with defectors from your side... I wouldn't put it past them to try something so awful as to kill one of their own for more..."

Her fist clenched tight. "They... They're willing to make people into monsters... Actual monsters... Let them become permanently apart of some youma and..." Her pulse was pounding so loudly in her ears and she wanted to be sick.

"I fought one of those... things... one of your half-youma. She was horrifying. Barely human. How can you walk away and tell me to grow up when you won't even acknowledge the fact that your side does heinous, horrible things... Things that violate every moral and ethical stance the world could ever hold."

She was shaking. "Run away from me, if you can't face the truth! But deep down you know - I'm right."

"Super Sailor Penthesilea. Go look her up yourself, kid." Seraphinite continued to walk, refusing to let himself act on how his blood boiled from her words. Refused to let her win the argument. "The Negaverse does what it needs to to cleanse the planet from invaders. War means having to make some sacrifices for the greater good. If you cannot acknowledge that, then you should not be fighting in the war. It will kill you if you are unable to do what you must to survive."

Before he walked off into the maze, he paused, nearly white eyes looking back at the enraged child. "Metallia gave us power. We utilize it however we must to accomplish our goals. We acknowledge it means sacrificing some to obtain the goals necessary to protect the majority. We acknowledge this burden. I've yet to once hear from one of you so-called followers of Order that you acknowledge the costs of this war you will also have to bear. In fact. It sounds like a few of your members take particular pleasure in slaughtering those around them."

Flicking his gaze away from the child, he moved on through the maze, intent on leaving her behind. The next time he came across the sniveling brat, he would kill her if she continued to be so ******** naive.

The name was committed to memory, she would have to ask Phact if she knew them, and others... She wouldn't deny that a few senshi fit his last statement, she had, had the unfortune of meeting a few. Recently.

Clenching her teeth, she turned and made her way closer to the city center. It was late, but there was no way she could return to her dorm in this state. She had come to the park to clear her head and think - try to sort out her problems.

The young negaverse officer had only made them worse....

Tears welling up again, she sniffled and turned out of the park, then down a street... heading to the only place she knew she'd find some answers.

Phact's.
