sigishooter XxWar_WrenxX sigishooter XxWar_WrenxX sigishooter XxWar_WrenxX I've been a practicing witch for a little over 7 years. I've done a fair number of things; spells, tarot, runes, astral projection, reiki, voodoo, and some stuff with dreams but I can't think of the technical terms at the moment. I've always been very passionate about witchcraft and energy work. I practice alone and think it best that way. I love talking about it, sharing experiences and teaching occasionally. I'm very picky about who I choose to teach though. I've met some crazy people. I don't have almost any of my tools anymore. It's a house rule that when leaving a negative residence, nothing that can hold on to negativity comes with when I move. However useful tools are, I don't really need them anymore to be effective, they're just helpful. I'll be happy when I have the money to invest in new tools lol Cool! Glad to have more people ahah. I can understand not really teaching either. So do you still practice all of those things you mentioned actively? What have you been up to lately? :0 Yeah, teaching can be complicated and problematic in more ways than one. A lot of it, yeah. One of the things people misunderstand about witchcraft a lot of times is that it is really more a way of life than anything else. Yeah, occasionally there's something special that requires really sitting down at an alter and doing the dramatic thing you see in movies lol but magick is a matter of channeling rather than something crazy like selling your soul to a demon in exchange for the love of your life. lol People who have been practicing for years and really understand witchcraft or whatever you want to call it, they put it into every moment of their life in different ways. You know? Right now I'm mostly focused on recentering myself and reconnecting with the energy of life. I had gotten out of the habit in the last few months just because of life getting crazy, and especially because of rediscovering myself and understanding where I stand on the transgender spectrum, I'm having to recenter everything to who I am now rather than who I was when I started. You have to update your energy and practice just like your clothes lol Oh yeah, I understand! i only asked because I for one don't have the energy lately to keep up with it as much because other things in my life are so busy ^^; That's cool! I"m glad you're working through that for yourself. I should probably try to do the same soon ahah Yeah, it's hard to maintain the energy to keep up with it. I falter on that regularly lol It always feels good to get back into it though. 3nodding If you can take 10 minutes every day to just recenter, I'm sure that will help. If you ever need any advice or pointers, feel free to hit me up. xp Well, I do get distracted a lot trying to re-center myself when I have a lot on my mind. Any tips for that? :0 That's a huge problem all of us run into lol One common mistake is trying to clear you mind of everything. Without re-centering every day for a few months, it's just not going to happen. Here are two things that will help with that particular frustration: 1: Focus on one thing. An item that you find peaceful. Don't focus on a person or a place because those things have animation and will trigger other thoughts almost immediately. Focus on an object. I, personally, focus on a sword from a book series I enjoy. I picture it against a black background and memorize the details slowly and without force. For you, maybe it's an old coffee cup or your favorite flower. Whatever it is, just focus on that. 2: While focusing on this object, if other thoughts pop into your mind, imagine them being encased in a bubble or balloon and let them float away. It doesn't matter if you only have to do it 2 times or 200 times. Don't consciously pay attention to them. Use the bubble or balloon as a block between you and whatever thought and let it drift away. Both of those things should help you get better at letting whatever is on your mind go. Once you get good at focusing on that specific object, every time you recenter, slowly fade the image out. Very slowly. So the first day, give it a little haze around the edges. Next day, fade out the details, etc. Like with anything, practice makes perfect. So if you get hung up at any particular step, go back to the one before and start again. When it comes to this, it is okay to take your time to get it absolutely right. I hope this helps. Let me know how this works for you. As before, if you have any questions about anything, let me know. 3nodding

Omgosh, hello! I'm a secular witch, and I come from a long line of Traditional witches. I've been practicing since I was old enough to pass my family's rite-of-passage way back in... 2002. sweatdrop It's been a while, hasn't it? Anywho~ most of my family's from Ireland, my great-gran and her husband immigrated during the rush out of Europe following WWI back in 1917. Most of my family's lore comes from her journals, which she had to re-write in America because they ditched almost everything in order to make sure that immigration wouldn't find their tools or spellbooks.
I get a lot of flack about my traditions from Gardnerian Wiccans, and I really don't want to have to deal with that here in this guild - please don't harass me about it. Everyone practices in their own Way. heart

I won't claim to be a witch, because I am not initiated. but I do practice solitary witchcraft. it's ecclectic, but I filter it through the Gardnerian book of Shadows and British Traditional Wicca for all my sources on The Craft.
I am not part of the Wiccan religion, though I do follow the wheel of the year. I include Nordic, Celtic, and Mesopotamian gods in my worship, but I am Hindu. specifically, I am tantric non-dualist hindu. that is to say, I follow Tantra (sort of the esoteric, magical beliefs), and I don't believe God or The Divine is a person but rather is the infinite, unknowable, undefinable Brahman (very similar to the Tao). that's not to say that it can't be manifested into God and/or Goddess, the many gods, whatever else. just that it's not like that manifestation is the "ultimate Godhead" or "the True Reality of God" or whatever.
still, I generally invoke the Goddess as the Divine Mother Kali, or else I invoke the God and Goddess as Shiva and Parvati.
I use my magic with a certain level of casual ease at this point. I don't often ham it up in any way. I'll use associations and some ritual aspects from time to time, but I usually reserve that for holidays. simple spells are often so subtle for me that you wouldn't recognize them as magic or even notice that I'm doing them. I think it's largely because I'm not very superstitious, and so my practice is often very personal.
I wish I had a better way to explain what I mean, clearly. because everything I do I believe works and is real. but it's hard to explain what I mean.
