Rhea"Well, just guard me then. You can be sure I'm not calling for help." Rhea waved as she sorted through more pieces of paper. She was sure that was a good enough compromise. Less sure when the air around her grew hot. "What the hell are you--"
And she was thrown back, unconscious.

Oops, thought Thor as he watched Rhea's unconscious body crash into the ground. Bit too close to her head. For all the woman's energy, he'd forgotten she was pushing 150.
At least he could answer Gisa somewhat truthfully about stopping the escapee if she asked. Thor stepped further into the room and swept an arm over one of the desks, sending papers, pencils, quills, and a few animal skulls crashing to the ground. With the desk clear, he Levitated Rhea onto it. Better than the floor at any rate. Plus Rhea was old. Being on the ground couldn't have been good for her back.
As an afterthought, Thor drew a small length of nylon cord from his belt pouch, cut it from the rest of a spool with a Blade, and bound Rhea's wrists and ankles. That would, at the very least, keep her here until Thor could deal with her later. Nothing personal, my dear. Just business.
"What a lucky elf," he murmured, turning towards the window. It was a good vantage point to watch what was happening, and Gisa probably wasn't expecting him for a bit anyway. "What would you have done if someone else had been sent?"

RheaRhea wasn't out long. She had a survival spirit and a drive to- by god -not die in this godawful school at the hands of a former friend. Her survival spirit was what made her shoot to an upright position and swing dizzily at the air with her fist. She took note that she was still alive, which was harder than it sounds with a spinning head, and if she was wanted dead, she would have been killed while she was out.
"What the hell are you--?" she mumbled as her vision settled on the very blurry but clearing Thor. "I'm trying to come to an arrangement here because the council took a runner and-- ow." She tried to massage a sharp pain from her temple with the heel of her hand. It didn't work but it was worth a shot.

Inwardly, Thor breathed a sigh of relief. This would've gotten a bit messier than he would've liked if he'd left a dead body in the office. Also, Rhea was interesting to talk to. (Not that that had any impact in his decisions, of course, definitely not.) He didn't bother turning around - he didn't have to. Besides, with the arrival of that woman, it was clear s**t was about to hit the proverbial fan.
"Yes, the Council did run with their tails between their legs, didn't they," Thor muttered. "Bothersome... the game will be up sooner than we thought."
Thor didn't think Rhea could hear him. Thor forgot elves had good hearing.

RheaGame, Rhea reflected. This was all probably a show for the CEE, who had left early. Her assumption was that just that the Pact was tired of waiting for the CEE to be swayed by slowly dying, so they decided to speed up the process. "So it's over then?" she asked, swinging her legs off the desk to sit up properly. "No point killing us now, just let the poison do it?"

Thor glanced at Rhea, considering. "We have no intention of letting anyone die," he replied calmly. "It's all bluster at this point, but to be quite frank our need to have an excuse to distribute the antidote increased exponentially with a phone call this morning."
There wasn't much point in keeping up with the charade, Thor figured. He was far more interested in staying alive than following a gag order or two for the sake of pride.

RheaRhea blinked. No intention for anyone to die? Pretty sure death had already happened. That one teacher was gone. But regardless. They wanted to distribute the antidote? "So you're going to head back to your people and tell them to release it, right?" she questioned. "Right now would be the best time. It's unlikely that the council has stayed close enough to receive the effects of the antidote, so you can distribute it for whatever reason you have to and those council bastards can keep dealing with the poison."

Thor sighed. "I wish it was that easy," he said in a sincere tone. "However, Gisa insists on this ridiculous farce. Really, it would be easier to admit we made a mistake than to continue with this facade."
He glanced out the window to take stock of what was going on. Thor couldn't see Tyme from the treetop anymore, but it looked like most of the others were occupied. It would be easiest to slip out and distribute the antidote himself, as doing that correctly would certainly get him in good graces.
Too bad he didn't know where the person he needed to get the antidote to was.
"I suppose it would be easiest to falsify a document or two," he mused, "but our superiors really do want this law to be signed in and we'll certainly be in a mess if we don't complete our mission properly. Bother."
