“I hate you!” Ciel screamed at her father before storming off to her room. It had in retrospect been a stupid argument. Ciel had been falling asleep in class lately so one of her teachers contacted her parents about it. Her nights of patrolling had been taking a toll on her more than she wanted to admit not that she could explain that to her father when he demanded to know why she was suddenly sleeping through class. After a back and forth her father had said she was grounded for the next month. No anime, no books, no judo practice, she wasn’t even allowed to take Arthur for their weekly walk. She blew up at him, but it wasn’t really because she had been grounded. No she had been stressed from her knightly duties. She had been trying to figure out how to deal with Negaverse agents, she wasn’t a good talker like Hvergelmir but she also knew that Hvergelmir was right that her current method wasn’t going to work, and she was also trying to figure out how she could get on Teide’s good side. And so being grounded was just the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back, all the stress she had been building up just exploded.
She made it to her room and locked her door ignoring her mother’s request for her to come back so that they could talk. She needed to cool down a little before she could face them again. She noticed that the sun was beginning to set so she decided to go patrol for a little while to cool her head off. However she wasn’t really thinking so she transformed in her bedroom before leaping from her window. She had always waited until she was away from her home before transforming in the past both because she didn’t want to risk her parents or someone she knew seeing her transform or worse her aura attracting unwanted attention on her home. Unfortunately her mistake did not go unnoticed.
After close to an hour of walking around the city she felt calmer. She would go back and apologize to her father, and she would figure out what to do from there about the whole being grounded thing. However as she approached her back fence she noticed something was wrong her window had been broken in. She immediately transformed back into Hyperborea and she felt the aura of a Youma so she leapt up and into her room finding it torn apart and the door knocked off its hinges. No! Please God, no! She thought as she raced to the staircase from there she saw the Youma. The Youma was a man sized raven however it’s feathers were snow white instead of black, or at least they would be were they not currently stained with blood, it had hellish red eyes with powerful legs that ended with razor sharp talons and its beak had knife like teeth. It was standing over two bodies.
Hyperborea didn’t remember much of what happened next. She leapt at the Youma and started attacking it screaming in rage but her vision had gone red and she wasn’t think about anything but killing the creature that had invaded her home and hurt her parents. She didn’t notice that her uniform had changed or that she had become stronger. She also didn’t notice that her bracelet had broken off and grown into a bow that clattered to the floor beside her and the Youma.
When she came too she realized that the Youma had been dusted and she was punching the marble floor. She had torn the skin from her knuckles but the pain in her hands didn’t matter to her at the moment she crawled over to the bodies of her parents.
“Papa, Mama it’s going to be alright I’ll call an ambulance, you’ll be ok. I promise I’ll explain everything, I’m sorry I’ve been lying to you.” She shook her mother but she didn’t move. As she brought her hands up she saw they were covered in blood. She looked down at her mother’s face. She could see it was pale as death and twisted in pain and terror. She let out a horrified scream as she scrambled to her feet and ran to the front door. She wasn’t sure where she was going but she knew she couldn’t stay there. It was awful, too horrible for her stay.
She ran toward the city until she found an empty alley. She began retching at the memory of the torn apart bodies and the smell of death. Once she was able to control her gagging she stumbled over to the side of a building and slid down crying silently as the full impact of what had happened hit her. Eventually she cried herself to sleep.
