Once the message was sent, Mona settled herself to the wider expanse of the academy entrance outside of the building. She conjured up her levitation ball and took a seat on top of it, legs crossed at the knee with one elbow propped to hold her chin in her palm. The instructor dug her heel against the ground, rolling slightly upon her psychic chair. Like this she would be even easier to spot, with her eye searing mint and hot pink aura.

"Heyyy," she greeted casually as her tour participants approached, "Let's get the boring stuff out of the way first, huh? I'm Mona Sinclair, I handle arts and crafts over at the camp. Here at the academy I'm the Crash Course instructor, which means if you skipped out on camp you and I are gonna be seeing a lot of each other." She threw a wink to Lindy, Celine, and Cody.

With her free hand, Mona pointed past the main building. "We'll go around the grounds, get you guys familiar with the layout. Then maybe we'll get to the cool stuff." She locked her fingers together and stretched both arms over her head, then tucked both behind her mass of hair. "But first, you gotta tell me about yourselves. I wanna know your names, favorite color, favorite animal, and what kind of music you like. If you wanna jaw jack more, I'm all ears, but you gotta at least give me the skinny."

Everyone please make one short post introducing yourselves.

[ WuXia | Campus Tour! ]

WuXia's hand shot up into the air, as if she were marking herself present during roll-call or volunteering for some dangerous-yet-exciting mission, her exuberant gesture barely managing to miss the person standing nearest to her. The risk was pretty high since she'd planted herself near the front, though she'd tried to be mindful enough of others not to block the shorter members of the group; still, as they gathered together in a loose huddle before the main hall, the risk was there.

"I'm WuXia St. Clair!" she started, her voice cheerful and clear, almost strident; she'd had to give a lot of introductions in her short life, and an 'About Her' in front of strangers wasn't anything she hadn't done for at least half a dozen schools. "My favorite color is purple, and my second-favorite is blue!" That was probably easy to guess just by looking at her, but WuXia gave little mind to stating the obvious. "My favorite animal is the tiger, but I also like pandas, kakopo parrots, and ocean sunfish! Those last three are really cute," she added, by way of explanation, "but they're kinda useless. Oh, and betafish! My favorite music is..." Here WuXia momentarily trailed off into a brief - very brief - pause as she considered her answer, only to finish up with, "I guess I like anything with energy, but I like the erhu, too. It's sort of like Chinese classical music."

"I'm twelve years old, and I'll be starting my first year at Murmuring Pines. I bet it's gonna be awesome!" With that, WuXia subsided, though she didn't so much fall silent as she just stopped talking; her enthusiasm was still apparent as she bounced a little on her heels, unfazed by any eyes or attention that might have been turned her way. She had gotten a little off-course at the end, the result of one class introduction too many, and she'd maybe had one too many "favorites," but WuXia didn't let little things like that bother her as she cast her eyes around for the next to speak. As much as she wanted to see the school, she also wanted to know more about... pretty much everyone within eyesight. They all looked so... new!

[ Zajac | Campus Tour! ]

He stuck close to WuXia as they followed Mona for the tour. She was the one he knew the most about, even if that wasn't really a lot to start with. He looked around to see who would speak first and wasn't very surprised when she did. He had to duck to avoid being hit by her bit he didn't mind. She was excited, the world needed the kind of people that volunteered for things first. He needed those kind of people. After all if someone didn't speak fist it we unlikely that he would speak at all.

He was curious about this Chines classical music, but he could ask her some other time. When she was done he figured it was as good of a time as it ever would be to talk.

"I'm Zajac. Zajac Królik." he paused, looking at Mona and WuXia before contuining. "Um, I like the colors brown and orange, my favorite animal is the rabbit," his hand instantly went to to one of the ears of his jacket, "and for music I like..." he knew no one would know about it but it was his favorite and he wasn't going to lie to an instructor. "It's called poezja śpiewana, it's from Poland." he nodded. It wasn't like people want to know more about him. As soon as he was done he seemed to take a step back, hiding a little more behind WuXia. She might be a little dangerous, but he felt safer with her then any of the others.

Cody went near starry eyed when he saw Mona summon her levitation ball and he watched as she sat down on it. Add that to the list of things he couldn't wait to learn how to do. The news that she would be his crash course instruction wasn't bad news either.

Rolling back and forth on his feet as WuXia and Zajac made their introductions he thought on his answers, deciding to speak up when there was a long pause.

"Hey! I'm Cody MacLain. Favorite color is red, favorite animal is, uh-" he stumbled for a moment, forgetting his preplanned response."I like a bunch of different animals?"

Nailed it.

"Oh, and for music I like classic rock, alt rock, and dance for the most part."

As it turned out, Lindy never made it back to Doolittle and Juniper. She wandered between the snacks and the booths, not so subtly eavesdropping on conversations and watching the other students and campers mingle. When Mona's announcement bounced through her head, Lindy jumped. She pursed her lips, faintly annoyed, and they remained pursed until moments before she joined the small tour group. Steps away from where Mona sat, Lindy's face lit up, her smile as genuine as if it had been there the whole time.

When there was a break in the introductions, she jumped in with her own, raising her hand to the height of her eyes before she began.

"It's great to meet all of you! I'm Lindy, my favorite color is purple, my favorite animals are dolphins and pigs, if they're cute, and I love pop!"

There. Short and sweet. Her hand dropped back to her side and she stood there in semi-awkward silence, smiling like her face was stuck that way until the next person spoke.

User Image Marcelle left the big building once she felt she was getting too crowded, fluffing her hair as she strutted over to the gathering of kids for the tour she halfheartedly signed up for. She entered the semi-circle around the counselor with a dramatic flip of her ginger curls, examining her nails with one foot planted and her hip stuck out until the Lindy girl finished her introduction. While maintaining her air of superiority, the twelve-year-old's posture straightened to a regal level as she looked down her nose at the small congregation. "My name is Marcelle Meridian, daughter of the preeminent Grayson Meridian, sole heir of the Charbonneau line of psychics." she over-exaggerated, running a hand through her perfect glossy curls. "My 'favorite color' is gold, nothing less than twenty-four karats. My favorite animal is the swan, I have twelve of them in the pond behind my summer home. And I prefer more sophisticated music, like classical and opera. Most cultured people do." She ended her little speech with a flutter of her dazzlingly long lashes and a snotty sneer, then continued to preen herself, waiting for something worthy of her time to roll into motion.

As each camper and student signed off on their information, Mona grinned. She crossed her arms and let her eyes drift from one to the next, nodding her approval when they finished. Her brows rose with Marcelle but Mona's grin was just as strong as for anyone else.

"Well, alright! Those are some pretty diverse answers, huh? Thank you, guys." Standing from her levitation ball, Mona gave it a slight kick with her heel -- the bright pink and teal energy popped and vanished without a sound. At her full height, she was just barely taller than the campers. "My favorite color is hot pink, i like a whole lot of animals but my fav's got to be the kiwi bird, and I'm all about those 80s hair bands." With a wink and one pointed finger to Cody, she added, "Rock and Metal preferred."

Her hands came together in a swift clap; Mona rubbed her palms together eagerly and looked around the grounds. "Time to get the boring stuff out of the way. Let's see if we can make it fun, though, hm?" The short instructor beckoned with one hand that they follow her. "Tell me if you guys have aaany questions. About aaanything. Like, seriously, anything. Go for it."

No worries if you're unable to participate or changed your mind! Just wanted to give you one last shot at tossing Celine in with the group before they move away from the meeting place and she won't be able to find them! <3

User Image Marcelle might have seemed like she was too busy making sure she looked her best to care, but if there was one thing she was good at (and this girl excelled at many things), it was deception. Every piece of information that left the group's lips had been catagorized, sorted, and filed in her head for potential future use. She endured their little speeches with blatantly unconcealed boredom, and was about to just turn around and in hopes of finding something actually worth her time as Moana geared up for taking in questions. "Is the 'cuisine' provided for the students always this pathetic?" she asked without missing a beat, probably cutting someone off in the process. As the words left her mouth, she leveled her icy blue stare with the councelor's, showing her verbally that there wasn't a single fiber of her being that was willing to bow to her authority. If she wasn't careful, Marcie would dominate and wouldn't spare a look back to see who she left in the dust.

As before, Mona's grin didn't falter against Marcelle's callous tone but her eyebrows rose - whether it was with surprise or interest was impossible to tell.

"It is a humble selection, isn't it?" With one hand on her hip, she gestured to Marcelle with the other. "We are a low funded operation. If it's a concern, maybe the Charbonneau line of psychics or Grayson Meridian himself might like to donate for quality assurance?" Her hand held out, Mona clutched at the air as though Marcelle had the money to give right here. "No less than twenty-four karats."

[ Zajac | Campus Tour! ]
Zajac listened carefully as the other children spoke. Although already he picked WuXia as a good person it was good to know a bit about the other kids around him.

After him spoke the older kid, Zajac assumed he wasn't a camper but actually a student. The guys words made him seem okay in Zajac's mind, but he still didn't move from where he was hiding behind WuXia. The second person who talked was named Lindy, and that girl seemed okay even if she looked too old to be a camper. Pigs were a unique animal to like, that's for sure, but then again if she liked cute animals she would like rabbits right?

The last girl to speak had more to say then anyone else, and boy was she intimidating. Her whole family was psychics, and that was amazing to him! And she had twelve swans! It was all a lot to take in at once. Then when she spoke rudely to their instructor his eyes went wide. He would never dare to do such a thing. However Mona had a good answer back which made the corner of his mouth twitch up in what could become a smile.

Although he wanted to ask when letters were sent out and how often he refrained for speaking, he knew speaking up would make him an easy target. Maybe he could ask Mona later when no one else was around.

Cody went ahead and gave a double finger pistol in return to Mona's acknowledgement, adding on an "Eyyyyyy" for full cheesy effect. Who knew, maybe he'd have to ask her for some suggestions down the road.

The next words that came up from the golden haired camper were a bit more... loaded, but Mona certainly had a good reply up her sleeve. Cody went ahead and edged in a reply before any possible explosion.

"Is there a gym? Trails? Outdoor climbing maybe?"

User Image Marcelle narrowed her eyes at the stout counselor, fluidly altering her posture and stance to that of crossed arms with her hip jutted out. Her mind shifted into third gear, adjusting to Mona's mental parry. Marcelle wasn't expecting her to have a sharp tongue, after hearing her use several slang terms that were way out of style. She was good, but she was a fool if she thought Marcie would back down that easy.

What would be the best power play?

She could reach into her purse and whip out five hundred dollars and her dad's business card. That would be the 'charitable' thing to do. But is that how she wanted to be perceived? Challenge Marcelle Meridian and she'll pull out that week's allowance to give up just to make a point? She wasn't that reckless. It was a gutsy move, though. It would also exhibit a glimpse at exactly how wealthy she was.

On the other hand, she could wave the whole matter away and just hire a personal chef. She was already considering replacing the one she took to camp with her (he never could season things the way she liked). Her biggest concern at the moment, though, was what was going to get to Mona the most. Part of her thought that the first option would be playing right into her hands. She also detested the idea of looking like a hero. But the second option might come across as a loss, which would not be acceptable. To do what she needed to do, she needed to inspire fear and awe. This was a crucial move in the mental chess game she and Mona were playing.

Marcie removed a silver card from the inside of her purse, holding it between the index and middle fingers of her left hand. She raised an eyebrow, nearly cutting the boy's question off with a hard-to-read smile crossing her lips. "Twenty four? A drop in the bucket. By the time I get here, there could be a state of the art dining hall filled with top-of-the-line appliances, grade-A chefs from around the globe and dishes too divine for your undeveloped pallets to appreciate. But would he go through the trouble? He would for me. The most favorable option, however, would be to simply hire another personal chef." She extended the card in Mona's direction. "It would require a chat with the director, but I could be persuaded to give him a call." She gave her a satisfied smirk. Check.

Lindy was cataloging as well, storing away names, animals, and colors in what was probably a much less calculating way than this Marcelle Meridian. She was... something. Lindy herself had never wanted for much in her life that wasn't provided, but she had never had even the most remote desire to introduce herself in terms of her family name. The Kingstons were quite well known in some circles, but it had always felt a little blasphemous mentioning her parents around those who might have heard of them anyway. She had to wonder if it had just been circumstance that had kept her from ending up just like this little snob, though she didn't wonder for long.

Side-shuffling a few steps closer to Zajac and WuXia, Lindy gave them a friendly wiggle of her fingers. Cute kids. At least there were some around here.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 27, 2016 9:31 am

Mona's brows lifted at Marcie's reply, though they were already obscured by her flat curtain of fringe. She watched the little princess pull out a credit card and kept an appraising smile on her face all the while as she explained. When the card was held in Mona's direction, she grinned lackadaisically and held her arms up in a casual shrug.

"Do I look like a credit card reader?" With a point of her finger to the main building on campus, she said, "If you wanna go ahead with that kinda thing, you gotta talk to the dean. I'm sure she'd be very interested in your suggestions and contributions."

Her head and voice lifted to address the rest of the group, shot arms raised to gain everyone's attention. "We derailed enough though, huh? Let's get this train a rollin'!" And one student had precisely the right idea. Cody's question was met with an eager smile and a quick thumbs up. "You bet! Gym, sports and track fields, plenty of trails. I've been trying to get a rock climbing wall in here for a while but, you know, expenses. Maybe a petition, if it's popular enough?" That seemed to be an honest suggestion, as she again gestured to the dean's office in the main building with thumb over her shoulder.

"You guys wanna go check those out now and save the boring stuff for later?" Mona smiled in particular at Lindy and Zajac, who up till now had said very little.

That's a Wrap!
Sort of...

Thank you all for your attendance here as we attempted to sort some things out. Considering how long it's been, and with the start of the new year, staff felt it best to consider this roleplay finished and get it off of all of our backs. Snoof would like to apologize for the clumsiness of this event in particular but appreciates you guys wanting to go for it all the same!

That said, your troubles will not go unrewarded.

Just for signing up, you get a little something too. You've earned 1 PSI Point and 25 Arrowheads! Maybe we'll get to see Celine in action soon~

Everyone please remember to document your PSI Points somewhere safe and to deposit your arrowheads into the Psitanium Bank or else they won't be added to your accounts!

We hope to offer more events like this in the future that actually work. In the mean time, for your personal reference, here is what was going to go down through the tour:

Mona would have lead them around the school grounds from the Main Building over to the Sports Field and Gym, where she would have asked if anyone among them knows how to levitate and she'd ask to see their levitation balls, maybe encourage them to bounce around on them together before moving things along. They would walk around the edge of Lake Peregrine for a nice view while Mona introduced them to the Student Dorms where she would show off one of the empty Auxiliary dorm rooms and talk about all the neat ways you could decorate it. This would lead them on the path toward the Outlets Center to show off all of the on-campus stores and entertainment venues they have on offer, like a private arcade and even a roller rink!

That would take them towards the Playground and Pet Park, where they would have met up with Doolittle who would have introduced them to some lessons about the local wild life and pet regulations at Majesco. He would also totally be down for head scratches and belly rubs, should anyone want to offer them. Mona would have let everyone take a break at the playground to mess about, use the water fountain, or just sit and rest before they wrapped up the walk-about. If everyone was curious enough, though, she would show off her own room at the end of the tour (which would look very much like a student's, with band posters and memorabilia plastered all over the walls and otherwise very unprofessional, whoops there's still some dirty laundry, kicks that under the couch).

With that, Mona would escort everyone back to the cafeteria for some food 'cause all that walking sure worked up her appetite!

As always, if there are any questions or concerns please PM them to Mind Over Matter Staff and we'll get back to you ASAP! Thank you everyone, again, for your participation and boundless patience. We seriously appreciate it.
