Piper was trying to steady her unfocused mind. The whooshing of the water splashing up just barely reaching them now distracted her, she could hear Derrick but his words weren't sinking in. She felt herself detaching. A tear rolled down her cheek, just after she brushed it away Derrick took her hand. She turned to look at him, all of his beautiful features were softened, something she hadn't seen before. His eyes looked so genuine. Now, he was telling her that he apologized to Donny and Cami. Her exterior softened again. His thumb gently rubbed the back of her hand, clearly absentmindedly. And he wouldn't know it, but it grounded her. Here. In the moment.
"I want to believe you, Dare." Her voice was soft, broken. Her eyes glanced away for a moment, but were drawn back to his own, glistening in the moonlight. She sighed, trying to steady herself, her heart was racing, beating in her ears. "I need to know this isn't some competition, something that will die off when you see he's committed to Cami. I'm..." She bit her bottom lip. "I'm scared Dare. I'm full of questions, but I'm also really drunk." Her mind was overwhelming her. Her body was feeling different things than her mind was shouting. She wanted to crawl on top of him and kiss that damn gorgeous face and feel his amazing hands on her body. Everything he was saying was what she didn't even realize she wanted to hear until they left his beautiful mouth. But her mind was skeptical and very clouded with wine. Fear suffocated her, but he could breathe life back into her, he proved that with the touch of his hand.
Piper had no idea how much of a hold he had on her until Donny showed up either, so maybe just maybe, this was real. And if so, where did they go from here?
The tide splashed up much closer this time, soaking Piper up to her a**, causing her to jump and squeal, instantly changing the mood of the moment. She couldn't help it, she was drenched now and cackling like a child at the fact.

Cambria sighed when he started to argue, but eventually he came to admit she was right. Whether he accepted it or not was still up in the air, but at the very least he was coming to see it. She was relieved. She hated living in conflict. But she also detested change and yet here she was in the thick of change. She looked around as Donny mused about the living situations here. She supposed someone would direct them to what they needed to do. Or did everyone assume that with Piper and Donny's history that she would be the one to direct them?
Part of her really hoped not. She wasn't particularly fond of her being around quite that often. Though they did come here for him to hopefully get closure.
"I would assume they would have jobs of some sort. I'm sure someone will direct us after the party. It seems more lax than the republic, Don. I don't think it runs on some sort of monetary system by the looks of it." She shrugged, picking up her drink and smiling. "Why don't we just try to enjoy the night?" She was channeling her before-Donny self. The more carefree, general people pleaser, instead of the girl that broke every value for the love of a boy who may not ever return it in the same light.
The future that we hold is so unclear.,

Derrick processed what she was saying he didn't know what else to respond with. He didn't know how to convince her he was just as ready. As ready as Derrick had ever been. Which, he supposed, could be good or bad. Derrick had never really been ready for something like this. But Piper made him a happy guy and that's all people wanted, right? He sighed, "Well, we can talk about this again when you aren't so tippy. But you can bet on the fact that we will be talking."
He was slowly becoming more and more discouraged, until the water came up and drenched the both of them. Piper squealed and he laughed at her. He was soaked too, his nice pants. But he couldn't focus on that. All he could focus on was Piper's beautiful laughter and the lightening of the moment. "You're an absolute goof." He chuckled and got up. "Well. It seems we have two options. Stay and party, soaked to the bone. Or go home and change and I can make more food. Dare I say...better food."

Piper smacked Derricks arm, pouting at him but still chuckling under her breath. "You're the goof." She rolled her eyes. But then gasped. "You want to leave the royal party, and you're insulting the food? Riskaaaay." She giggled, then looked down at herself. "Yeah, we can go home. To be honest, I'm really all peopled-out for the day." She huffed. "I lost my shoes, Dare." Everything faded to the background, now it was just her and him and the beach laughing and enjoying life. And honestly, she didn't feel this way very often so she was soaking it up while it lasted.
Once they located her shoes, in two different places along the beach, there was clapping from inside. Was dinner over already? They would dance and mingle, get drunk, and call it a night. But Piper, glancing over at Derrick, couldn't wait to skip it all and go home.
"Should we anyone we are leaving, or?" She looked to him for guidance here, her eyes skimming down then back up his body. She bit her lip as her eyes met his.

It was an uncomfortable feeling being without guidance from the get go. From the day you're born, it feels like, you have rules and regulations you're expected to follow in the republic. And Donny grew accustomed to those rules and guidelines leading him in his life decisions. His personal thought had slowed because of it and it was just now connecting for him. He didn't know what to do any more because he essentially was free here.
Well, maybe not yet. But he didn't have anything to hide so eventually he would be completely free to do as he pleased. That made him feel more at ease. All in a matter of 3 minutes swimming in his own head.
He focused back in on Cami and nodded. "You're right. So we've eaten and danced and drank. What else should we do to assimilate?" He asked tilting his head to look at her with a crooked half smile."Should we try to talk to the big guys again?" He nodded up to the 5.

"Pft, royal party my a**..they just try to gt the newcomers drunk enough to spill any republic secrets they might be hiding. It's a well disguised interrogation of sorts. The added bonus is the booze for everyone else too." he chuckled. "And plus, if I hadn't been put in the military I could have definitely run circles around the cooks we have here. No doubt." He laughed and then followed Piper's eyes down to her feet.
"You did lose your shoes. Let's go find em." They scoured the beach and located her shoes just as dinner was ending. "Nah let them wonder. Let's make a run for it before Twitch asks me to give a speech or make an a** out of myself again. He smiled and led her down the street to their house.

Cami looked over at the table where the five were finishing up their meal, chatting and scanning the room occasionally. The beautiful tattoo filled Nicolette was making eyes at Gray and they all looked so... untouchable. Her heart sped up. "Uhh, I don't know. They're so intimidating." She bit her bottom lip and focused her eyes back on Donny. "Maybe we should start with the less royal of the bunch. I think we'd fit in better amongst them, don't you think? And maybe someone can give us a little guidance." She shrugged, not wanting to approach the big five again. Though, If Donny felt the need, they could and she'd follow suit. "Unless you want to, of course. Twitch doesn't seem so intimidating." She looked back up at the table again, watching the slightly smaller bald guy elbow the bushy looking guy Nic, as if they were just the best of friends. Them, she could see getting along with.

Piper pecked Dare on the cheek when he found her shoes and got her situated. Then they began their short trek down the street to their home. She almost felt bad leaving the party and everything behind, but it almost felt like the drama was left there too. Now things could maybe feel like they did before. It was hard to imagine that this had all only happened within the last few hours. Piper suddenly felt exhausted, the weight of her new life crashed on her drunk self as they walked through their front door.
Derrick was professing his love for her, asking for more, Donny was here with his so-called soul mate, and now they were all stuck on the same island, to function as a community. It was quite a leap from her once-nearly drama free existence here and she found herself almost wishing he wouldn't have come looking for her.
But Derrick was headed straight for the kitchen, and Piper was soaking wet and all she could think about as he walked away was the god-like shape of his a**, and the way his wide shoulders moved as he walked away. Her shoes fell from her hands, and she began to wiggle her arms out of her wet dress. "Hey, Dare." She called, and as he turned she let her dress fall to her feet.

Donny didn't expect being so compelled to talk to the guys in charge. He barely liked the ones in the Republic much more than he was forced too...but the thing was...here he didn't want to be nervous. He didn't want to live in fear of getting in trouble. So he turned to Cami once more and said, "we might not fit in but that's the point. We don't have to." He wiggled his eyebrows and hopped up. Walking in the direction of the big kid table. He walked slow though as he intended for Cami to follow behind.
As he approached everything he was ever taught told him to follow cami's advice and to go mingle with the common people but he willed it out of his mind and strode up to Twitch. "Hey man, this party is awesome. So you guys do this for all the new arrivals?" He looked around at the people a few had already drank their weight and gone home. But most remained in the gazebo. It wasn't a large island but there was still enough people to populate it. "How many new people do you get a year would you say?" He asked genuinely interested.
