"Hehehe... there is truly no better season than Summer..." Face split in half by a toothy grin, with his eyes hidden behind a pair of binoculars peering into the distance; Laval was seated cross-legged upon a boulder, located on a cliff that overlooked the Winhill's beach. Down below, in the water, on the sand, and beneath the shade of their carousels; people of all ages, genders, and occupations could be found. Be they from Winhill or Winhill Garden, the beach was often a place of relaxation and refuge from the heat of the summer, when there was nothing more relaxing than soaking oneself in the nice, cool sea water. Typically SeeD were assigned to watch over the beach, to ensure the protection of citizens and non-combatants from aquatic based monsters, or any others that tended to inhabit the area, but Laval wasn't on any such duty today. Stripped down to just a pair of suit trunks, with his familiar gray coat thrown over his shoulders, he was certain keeping watch, but it was not for monsters he was spying for.
"Laval, what do you think you're doing?" From behind the young man, a quiet, yet penetrating voice made Laval jump from where he sat; and for a moment he fumbled with the binoculars as they very nearly slipped from his hands. When he was certain that they weren't damaged or otherwise jostled by the near drop, he turned to look over his shoulder, and found himself staring into the eyes of what he initially thought could have been a coldly furious dragon, but upon further examination was simply the headmaster of Winhill Garden, Sou-Ho Nebulous. "What, what?" Laval asked, clearly startled and surprised, but already quickly formulating an excuse in his head. "I asked what you were doing." Sou-Ho repeated again, expression stern and voice no-nonsense. Gaze penetrating Laval in such a way that young man could have sworn that Sou-Ho could tell he what he was thinking. Then again, Sou-Ho had watched over Laval long enough to know his habits and thought patterns, so chances were it was true.
"Bird watching." Laval responded, resuming composure and relaxing, trying to appear casual as if what he were doing was perfectly normal. "Bird watching." Sou-Ho repeated slowly, eyes narrowing and expression grave, clearly not buying it. "What? Would you care to join me?" Laval asked cheekily, holding up the binoculars for Sou-Ho to take. "I'm married, you foo--" Sou-Ho's expression lost all agitation, and for a moment the man looked miserable as he remembered that he was no longer married. "Ah, that's right..." His voice low. Unconsciously he reached up and started to stroke the snow-white bangs that lay against his temple (a habit he developed over the last two decades), the man decidedly pensive. Laval observed Sou-Ho, catching and reading the mood, and slowly resumed his "watch". As he did so, binoculars raised to his eyes once more, he spoke.
"Fianna tells me that Ernmas is doing well." "Is she?" Sou-Ho asked absently, attempting to feign disinterest. "Mm." Laval confirmed, neither smiling nor poking fun at the older man's awkwardness as he might with any other. "Still wrapped up in her work as ever. Fianna often has to remind her to take care of herself whenever she visits." "Hm." Sou-Ho chuckled lowly. "She always was focused..." The two said nothing more for several minutes, Sou-Ho leaning against the boulder, eyes facing east and expression wistful while Laval remained respectfully quiet.
"Well, I have likely neglected my duties long enough by taking this detour. If I remain gone from the office too long Kalay will very likely take it as an excuse to skip out on work." "You sure you don't want to peek? I'll keep it quiet from Fianna, promise I won't tell." Laval asked again, grinning mischievously once more. This time Sou-Ho simply chuckled, taking the good humor for what it was. "No thank you, it would hardly be appropriate, or respectful, if I did." "Suit yourself, I'm easy." Laval shrugged, happy to continue his "bird watching" alone. "Don't work yourself too hard. Would hate for the rest of your hair to go white from the stress." "Yes, that would be a tragedy..." Sou-Ho chuckled again. Stepping away from the boulder, Sou-Ho made out as if he were returning to Winhill Garden, but came to a pause, as if thinking of something at the last moment.
"And Laval, before I go..." "Yea?" Asked, not turning away from his activity. "Stop." At that immediate moment, time halted for Laval; As Sou-Ho casually cast a -ga level spell upon the young man. Turning to look over his shoulder, Sou-Ho sighed, his expression disappointed and hopeless. "Just like your father... Byakko... let's get this over with..." He sighed. Carrying the man down the cliff and to the beach, Sou-Ho drew the attention of several women, and with carefully placed words made them aware of the peeping voyeur's actions. "Feel free to to show him the error of his ways once I have left." Sou-Ho suggested, emphasizing the word "show". One of the women didn't even wait for him to turn around before cracking her knuckles and flexing her fist. All the while, Laval was still frozen, completely unaware of what was about to occur to him.
Turning away, and walking up the beach head back in the direction of Winhill Garden, he ignored the sounds of fists and feet on flesh, or perhaps better worded "tuned it out" as he returned to his own thoughts, thinking once more on Ernmas. 'Do you also think of...' Sou-Ho shook his head, dismissing the thought. No, more than likely, Ernmas did not think twice of their failed marriage. She was always one who kept her priorities on the future, and never a thought towards the past. And in all the times they had spoken since he departed from Esthar, some fifteen years ago, they had never discussed anything beyond Fianna. Even so, in some small part of his heart, Sou-Ho hoped that one day, when he stepped down from his position, that he might return to Esthar to make it up to Ernmas. Start things over once more. 'Wishful thinking.' He told himself, stroking the snow white bang once more. 'Just wishful thinking...'

"That's a really stupid name though..."
Kalen stood there with his right hand rubbing the back of his head, looking at the girl before them with a sigh rising from the depths of his chest. Perhaps it was a little bit selfish but after such a supposed feat, couldn't something perhaps a bit more austere and revering be the name that was bestowed upon him? Of course, the smaller girl before him didn't really care that much, or rather was oblivious to his objections, but then again Ilya was always a little clingy for whatever reason...and kind of oblivious to things. The young man merely looked down at his wolf companion, the pup not being the size of a normal pup after all these years as Hans merely looked up at him and gave an unknowing shrug of the head. Obviously, he didn't think highly of the given name either.
"But it's what you did, Kalen! It was super cool, you beat them down super quick!" Her chirping praise was...well it was nice to hear, who didn't like to hear a little praise every once and a while but all that he did was save a girl from a couple of bullies, no big deal. Well...then again...this girl was rather...emotional. Clingy? All he knew was that this was weird, merely letting out a sigh. Letting out a little laugh, he merely rubbed the back of his head a little more as he shrugged off Ilya's constant spouting with a nonchalant nod of his head. I mean...all I did was knock out a couple guys, maybe stopping them from walking for...a while... Or maybe for a lifetime. Who knew? It wasn't hard at all either, Sammy was out who knows what and he had merely been trotting along, minding his own business. Three amateurs trying to rob this Ilya girl and with a flick of the rest, they were dealt with.
"My daddy will be so thankful!"
Perhaps it was time to get out of his thoughts and focus on the girl before him, this time with a little more attentiveness? Hans merely snorted as he watched his blonde companion's face finally come into focus as the brown haired girl began to hug him, her head nestling against Kalen's chest as she continued to spout words that he himself barely registered. "Oh come on...Ilya, right? There's no need to go around..." And then she cut him off again. It was almost like Nyale but instead with either kind words or a punch to the arm it was more loud pitched noises that could almost make a dog go deaf...well, wolf, as he looked down at Hans once more with a comical sigh. It was funny how this made him miss the loving abuse that he got from Nyale and Fianna...if one wanted to call it loving. Well, he was certainly that one, but perhaps that was just the silly optimist in him. "Um....seriously....there's no need...it's not like it's important for your dad..."
"Don't worry, Kalen! My daddy will make sure that the other politicians and people know the name of Kalen, the Flash Swordsman! Come on, I'll tell him while we eat over dinner!"
Poli-what? Oh No..... The stupid name was never going to leave him now....
