User ImageSamkiel sighed softly as he stood near the edge of their small group. It was still strange, being here in this new place, with no immediate threat to their lives. No constant pain, torture, fear. He felt...numb. Laying his hand over his chest, he fingered the edge of the hole that was there. Since coming through the portal, he'd felt very little, and what he did feel come from when he looked at Thyone.

Thinking of her made him shift his gaze to find her, the ghost of a smile playing over his lips. If he had his heart still, he knew it would beat faster just by looking at her. For a while now, something had been on his mind, something big and important. Perhaps it wasn't something he should be thinking of now when they were still lacking a permanent home, but it was there nonetheless.

"Thyone," he called to her softly as he walked closer to her, stretching his hand out for hers as he drew closer. This thing that was on his mind included her, and he needed to talk to her about it. He wanted a family. It seemed almost....silly, in light of their circumstances and their past, and their enemy that had come through to this world as well. But he was sure that they would be able to keep their children safe. "I want to talk to you about something," he murmured, giving her a soft smile.

Thyone had been lost in thought, mindlessly watching the other fallen mill about, her green gaze flickering from one to the other. So many things inhabited her mind, yet she could feel not much, if anything, for any one of the thoughts currently occupying her head. Thyone glanced down at her chest, searching the gaping hole as if expecting to find her heart had magically grown back now that they had broken through to the new world.

She scoffed.

That was a silly thought, her fingers touched an empty nothingness just as they had done moments ago. Just as they would continue to do as long as she walked this world. But the one thing that kept her going, was her beloved Samkiel. Even before they had broken through, he was the only reason she could keep going day in and day out. She owed her life to him in more ways than one, and as if on command, when he called to her, she turned to face him with her undivided attention. She reached out instinctively and laced her fingers between his, clasping down with a small bit of mentality that as long as she held firm, he would never disappear from her side. "Yes, Sammy?" she said softly, though in more of a whisper. It sounded as if he wanted to speak to her, and her alone.

The pink and purple fallen turned her head once more to see where the attention of the other's were focused. Once she was sure the attention was not on the pair of them, she turned back to Samkiel, gazing up into his pale yellow eyes. "What is it?" she tilted her head, trying to find any curiosity left in her being, though she found little. The most she could muster at the moment, was a love filled gaze she could only bring herself to give to this one man. He always had a way of making her believe that everything would be alright as long as she stayed by his side.

Sammy. Anyone else who called him that got a glare and a sharp word. But coming from Thyone, it was okay. Anything was okay with him as long as she was there. With her, anything was possible. He sighed softly, a content noise, as her fingers fit neatly between his. Her grasp on his hand with tight, comforting, though all he really felt was a vague notion of this.

His eyes flicked to the rest of the group for a second before tugging her a little more away from them. "I've been thinking about something," he said, his voice quiet and mostly flat. With her, though, his voice always held a warmth that was missing when he spoke to others. "I... I wanted to ask you how you would feel..." he paused and smirked a little, his eyes straying to the hole in her chest that matched his before coming back up to meet the green eyes that always managed to see inside him. "What you would think, rather, of starting a family here."

It wasn't something they had given any kind of thought to before. In fact, back on their home world, he would have been vehemently against the idea of children. He wouldn't have been able to put his own child through that kind of life, let alone be the kind of man who would put the love of his life through something like that. But here...here things were different. And though what he could feel was nothing compared to what he had felt before, he loved Thyone with all he had.

Thyone's fingers tightened around around his as she continued to peer into his face. Even after he had spoken, it was as if his words had past right through her and she simply didn't hear him. In truth, she was doing her best to mull over what he had just proposed and trying to formulate the correct facial responses to match the feelings she knew she should have felt by now....but couldn't. "But....Sammy..." she began softly, unsure of what to say really.

Her eyes glanced down at the hole in his own chest, her free hand drawing softly up his torso until the tips manage to find the cracks. They had sacrificed much to get to this land, possibly so much. Had he already forgotten? "You know the curse....it...its highly unlikely that we could even start a real family." she sighed softly, daring to now meet his eyes, a small tingling fear of finding hurt in his gaze. "We don't even have a place to stay...regardless how safe it may seem here.....you know I love you so much but..." she trailed off, gaze flickering to the side as she happened to catch a distant noise from one of the other's, momentarily derailing her train of thought.

He looked down when she spoke first. There was a slight twinge of disappointment, but he didn't let it show in his eyes. Her hand came into view and he laid his free hand over hers. "I haven't forgotten, Thyone..." he whispered. How could he have? He sighed softly. "I know all of that...and I love you, too..." he said and stopped, eyes flickering where her's did until he was sure that no one was watching them. "I had thought about all of that. It occurred to me that...we would have help. Maybe we all need the...extra motivation to find a home. Maybe we could build one." That was an idea...they could bring that up to the group later.

That still didn't address their curse though. "What if...we just tried? If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't..." he shrugged one shoulder, brushing his thumb over the back of her hand lightly.

She still found it hard to believe they even could have a family, so in her mind, why even bother trying? It would probably end up as fruitless as trying to feel emotion was these days. But still....the way he looked at her. And the simple gestures of his thumb brushing lightly over her hand made her have second thoughts.

Shutting her eyes, Thyone let out a slow sigh, before bringing her gaze back up towards the man she loved. "I don't know Sam. I can't figure out where I stand on this....I feel next to nothing anymore." she said, turning her head away. If she were able to feel as such, a tear might have graced her cheek. "Say it did somehow miraculously happen.....how would we raise them? And what if they are affected by the curse worse than we are?" she blinked up at him, somehow knowing that right now she was feeling fear more for the sake of any children born than for Samkiel's or her own.

Part of him wanted to simply agree with her and be done with it, just to make her happy. Well. As happy as any of them could be at this point anyway. But there was something that kept pushing him, kept telling him to go for it.

He nodded a bit; he knew what she meant. Emotions weren't something that were common with them anymore. Even still, he knew he loved her. She loved him as well, he could see that when she looked at him. "We feel very little, you know that I can't deny that. And yet, we love each other. It could be the same if we started a family." He wasn't completely sold on that himself, but it was a start.

"And if the curse affects them as well, then...we'll deal with it. But what if they're not affected by it at all? What if they turn out to be completely...normal?" They could use some kind of emotions around here. Perhaps a couple of happy, giggling children was something they needed. Something like a morale boost, if they even had morale to be boosted. Was he really asking that much? Perhaps he was...but he couldn't clear this from his mind.

That was not something she had honestly thought of. What any children they somehow had were....normal? Would that in any way change how much or how less they could feel? She doubted it, it wasn't like they could just grow a new heart.... "What if..." she repeated softly, staring now at his chest.

Somehow, in her mind, there were still more con's than pro's, but she could sense something deep inside Samkiel wouldn't let this rest until she gave him a definitive answer.

Shutting her eyes, she pressed a hand to her forehead, rubbing her temples before pressing her head gently into his left shoulder. She stayed that way for a few moments before rolling her head to the side to gaze up at him, wrapping her arms around his waste. "I suppose then....there's no harm in just trying." she nodded softly, her fingers tracing the edge of the near perfect circular shape on his chest. "I still have my doubts....anything would happen....but if it means that much to you, Sammy, I will try. You know I only think of your well being..." she trailed off, reaching up to twin her fingers in a bit of his dark colored hair.

As she lay her head on his shoulder, he slid an arm around her waist and the other across her back. His fingers toyed idly with the edges of her hair. He still enjoyed the feel of her hair against his skin, the feel of her body against his. Her head on his shoulder and her arms around his waist. He felt it all. He just didn't feel the same level of emotion that used to come with it.

He smiled softly, brushing a bit of hair behind her ear. "Thank you," he murmured and kissed her cheek. "I know. It may all end in nothing, and perhaps I'll feel foolish later." Not likely. "But it can't hurt to try," he echoed her thoughts. He smiled and nuzzled her when she said she only thought of his well being. "And I of your's."

Thyone let herself be engulfed by his embrace, mouth forming into a smirk as she shut her eyes and shook her head softly. He always made her want to laugh, even in the darkest of times. Even if it wasn't intentional, he just had that special something about him that made her want to be happy. "Alright then, if that's settled....next question. Where.......exactly...... we are...rather out in the open." she paused, opening her eyes to glance up at him with as much of a fatter-of-fact face as she could get. "And I don't fancy onlookers." she grinned, half laughing and gestured towards the other group. And mentally towards anyone who was lurking near by.

Ah. She had a good point. "Umm..." he started, looking around a little. He snorted softly and laughed a little. "I don't fancy them, either," he promised. "Well, I don't think the others would mind if we were to...take a walk, just the two of us, do you?" They could go under some pretense or another: firewood, scouting, hunting or gathering food. Perhaps they could find some kind of rudimentary shelter while they were gone.

Thyone shook her head. "No I suppose not..." she said, trailing off to look at them. Or they could just not tell them and slip away now. Show up later with a pile of wood or something. They could handle themselves for a while while she and Sam went to do....other things. Shaking her head again, tossing her pink and purple hair about her neck and face, she grabbed his hand and started to tug him in the opposite direction of the group, a small smile on her face. If they went now, no one would notice. "While they are busy among themselves..." she smirked.

Or perhaps they could just go without a word. As Thyone was demonstrating by pulling him with her. "Sounds like a good plan to me," he said and chuckled softly, following her out into the woods. They shouldn't be missed for a while at least, and if they came back with something to show for their absence then no one would even question them.

If this worked, though, they might have some explaining to do...
