Jewlin stood outside the small entrance to some kind of underground laboratory. A tip he received from one of his usual sources. He checked his watch, his backup should be arriving soon. He began tapping his foot nervously, for some reason this mission made him uneasy. All he knew about this mission was that there was something down there and whatever it was, it had sent several other soldiers to the grave. But that’s normal. That’s what they do. The First Edge takes on missions other people aren’t prepared for.
So then… Why am I so nervous…?

Deep down inside the laboratory, deep down inside the darkness, something stirred…
“Enemies detected outside… Remote activation engaged. Systems warming up.”

Jewlin looked over at Brendan, or at least in what direction he assumed he’d be. Jewlin’s long-range vision wasn’t what it used to be.
“Hey, get down here. I’m not going in there by myself. Who knows what the hell is down there?” Jewlin paused for a second. “Besides, I don’t know how deep down I’m gonna have to go. Sonar indicates this thing goes almost a mile down and a mile across. Place is ******** huge.”
Jewlin turned his mic off and waited for Brendan. He’d actually like to have more firepower but unfortunately all they had at the moment were the only two on the mission.

”Radio signals… Interception successful. Preparing base defenses.”
