Well, that was a relief. He'd been afraid they'd have to spend half the night wandering.
He slid in behind her, grateful for the extra space the bear's shelter provided. He was pretty sure that his heart would leap out through his throat if he had to spend all night pressed up against this female without a clue of what to say or do about it.
Settling to his belly and tucking his paws beneath him, the dappled wolf finally gave in to the curiosity that had been burning at him since this meeting began. "That language," he said, in reference to the tail-end of the words he'd overheard. "Your accent. What is that? Where are you from? Are all the wolves here like that?"
The words tumbled out with eagerness.

Asha yawned, little pink tongue rolling out of her mouth as she made a sleepy noise. All the wandering in the dark had exhausted her mind, and running into a mountain of wolf had exhausted her body. It had been an awful experience to be sure, but she was happy to have found a new friend.
Laying her head upon her paws, eyelids slowly drooping to a close, she tried to pay attention but was clearly falling asleep. "Hmmm," she thought aloud, "I've only learned Agaphene but there's many other languages. I don't know the names of them unfortunately."
Trying to think back was difficult, she'd learned her native language so long ago... Had her parents mentioned any others? Her parents had only known the one language, it was all they'd taught her, she had picked up on Telkish mostly from strangers she'd met in her travels. Her Telkish was bad really, but Asha was lucky to be a quick study.
"Mom and Dad thought it a romantic language, they often even sang to each other," she smiled to herself, "they really had no interest in another language. My parents loved each other and rarely spent time with anyone else... Agaphene was all they knew and all they could teach me."
"Do you speak any other language?" she mumbled, fighting to stay awake.
