It's pretty much like...
He can sense/see/feel the emotions of others and direct it in certain directions? The larger the crowd he's trying to sense emotions from, the more general the emotions he senses get.
Did I do well enough or do you want more? (if you ever read that horrible vampire book Twilight, the SG is kind of like Jasper's special skill?)
