Elsie properly curtsied once the door opened and she thanked him for hosting this dinner. Prim and proper like. Very unElsie but she realllly wanted to prove to him that she could be ladylike so he would assume she was acting like that in school. Unfortunately he noticed the bloody lip and said something. How did he ALWAYS KNOW? She leaned back on the heels of her shoes as she twiddled her fingers behind her back and looked away nervously. "Uh... I... fell?" she lied but thankfully Markelm believed her. He must be distracted by something! Thank goodness! She nodded and said she would be fine. Nurse was not needed she had worse. No broken bones... she thinks. She then spied the roast beef, yorkshire pudding, peas and cabbage with apple pie for dessert. Her proper manners flew right out the window as she stared at the wonderful food and asked; "Where did ya get the food from?" He admitted it was from the school. Made sense. Markelm never cooked. Unless it was eggs, beans on toast or pancakes. Sometimes bubble and squeak or bangers and mash. Point was it was nothing fancy like this. She took off her shoes and ran to the food, feeling special when Markelm helped her in her chair. Today was her special day with Markelm after all. While she will never get those days again where they were home all day; she wanted... no... NEEDED time with her Da.

Elsie was once again tasting the deliciousness of butterbeer. She hid a giggle that Markelm forgot she and Kyra drank this earlier and acted like he was introducing this to her. She would be fine with that, especially if it meant having it more often. "Can we have this every dinner together?" she asked then ate the food happily, swinging her legs while talking. Though whenever she mentioned other classmates it was mostly negative reports she did have a few classmates who were... tolerable. The talks of magical creatures brought a twinkle to her eyes. She had read briefly about some of them while others she had never heard of. Asking details about each and every one of them, Elsie was forgetting to eat at times just listening about these fascinating creatures! Best one of all were Hippogriffs. They seemed amazing! She begged for one but Markelm just chuckled and told her to wait a few more years to learn about them. He mentioned a few other creatures next and a memory clicked. Her new friend Edgar loaned her a book about London's magical creatures and she realized she had seen a gnome before when she was a little girl. When she told everyone people made her believe she was telling stories or it had been a dream. Hey... wait a minute. "How come when I saw a gnome when I was 5; you made me believe it was a dream???" she pouted at that somewhat upset he outright lied to her. Not satisfied by his answer she pouted. She sighed heavily and poked at her food before she thought of another creature she was curious about. "I read in this book about the dark forest there are real unicorns in there. How hard are they to find?" she asked and started eating again. When he forbade her from entering the forest she muttered with her mouthful a "Maybe" but made it sound like ok.

Her pride of her note taking was showing while she told him all about it. He seemed proud too and she beamed with a big grin. She even told him about how she found the bookshelf left behind the curtains. Her little cozy corner might be tiny but she made it the best space in the tower. When Kyra was mentioned Elsie frowned. "She wasn't the dorm or common room. I was going to check the library and other places when I ran into..... and uh... fell...." she sheepishly added at the end and looked away as she started on her dessert. Good pie. Yup. Yummy.

Seeing Markelm openly use magic was a treat and she begged to see him do another spell. If he did she would fawn over the spell and praise him like the amazing Markelm he was. If he refused, she would try pouting and tears. Once it was time to leave, Elsie felt a longing to stay. She fiddled with her fingers then frowned before tackling him with a hug and clung for a moment. "I miss this... time with just you and me..." she admitted and looked up at him with her sad green eyes. Eventually she was convinced to leave and off she went to the school with a snucken bottle of butterbeer.

By the time she got to the Ravenclaw tower it was getting close to curfew. The walk was super slow and she had a lot of thinking to do. She needed to figure out a plan of revenge on the maggots who attacked her. But first she had to learn who they were. She only heard their voices and saw one of their rove crests. So it's impossible... but she had to try. Right? Frowning, Elsie was deep in thought as she walked and wondered if there were good curses in that book she borrowed from the library. Where there other books like that? How would I ask others spell advice on this without getting caught or in trouble at all. She pondered many questions like this as she walked towards her new home for the year. Eventually she walked into the Ravenclaw commons room and was thankful the riddle was a fun one this time. Some of them are annoying while others were hard and she watched other students answer. Being a Ravenclaw was annoying sometimes. Why did the stupid Eagle have a damn question??? She was showing her frustration when she looked in the commons room and smiled seeing Kyra. "How was your day? Surprised you were out so late. Usually that is my kind of day." she chuckled at that and sat next to Kyra peeking on what she was doing. Frowning a moment she wondered if she should point out Kyra was doing it wrong.

Gina was basically following the light source while self soothing as she pushed away the growing panic the longer they stayed in this room. She tried to remind her that teachers would look for them once they realized they were missing then she remembered how she overhear a kid talking about their nurse visit from falling down the stairs. Safety seemed to not be a big thing at this school unless in front of professors. Shivering, Gina hugged herself and tried to ignore the possibility of her own death. She just followed Kyra and eyed the boxes. There was only junk and junk. Her idea of a spell was good! But Kyra did not know the spell, Fawn was useless and looking for junk and Gina never learned that far either. Poop.

They both sat by the door in silence and Gina held onto a small dash of hope that someone would find them. While she waited she thought about the farm. She never liked the stinky place, the chores or how her brothers were treated like gold while she and her sisters did most of the work. But; the animals were amazing. She fondly remembered when a cow smacked her brother in the face with it's tail while he was teasing her. Oh how she wanted to laugh right then and there but she waited till he left and hugged Bertha for it. Though after a few minutes of silence she negan to watch Fawn. Since Fawn was muttering as she dug in the box; Gina tried to make sense of the jumble. Gina hesitated a moment and wondered if she could tell Kyra she was muggle born. After all; rumor was Elsie, Kyra's bestiest friend, lived with muggles. So Kyra didn't hate muggle life at least. Before she could say anything; Kyra was kicked in the back of the head by accident. Once the light went out; she screamed about their doom and clung to the nearest thing which was Kyra. Though just as quick the light flicked back on and Gina sheepishly released Kyra with an apology and she looked at her shoes. She awkwardly looked away while she tried to think of something to say but thankfully? Kyra jumped up hearing something.

Gina shot up as well to listen, "Oh!" she started to say when there was a shout. She too recognized the caretaker's voice. He had been after Fawn before and Gina due to her choice in friends. She shivered and nodded when Kyra confirmed her fears then followed Kyra when she led them over to the table. Kyra also managed to grab Fawn before the sound of keys.

The whole time the caretaker was in the room, Gina was thinking they were going to be murdered and never seen again or maybe just expelled... detention? Either way it all was acary. She looked up in horror when Kyra got up and crept over using A ROBE TO TOSS UPON THE CARETAKER! "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" She shouted as she fled hearing the word run. She looked back only a second to make sure the others followed and then ran as fast as she could; ran until her lungs burned then kept on running. Eventually they came to the hallway that was the stairwell to the first floor. Panting, Gina wobbled over to the bench and flopped to catch her breath. "I faced wild animals before and never faced that kind of fear before...." she gasped before glancing at Fawn in confusion wondering if Fawn really thinks that pie was the secret. She sighed and leaned against thr bench before she felt her breath began to slow. Glancing back to Kyra;: Gina smiled as she nodded. "My heart almost done burst out of my chest but, other than that I'm alright. How are you Kyra?" she asked showing as much concern. Nodding she listened and agreed with the suggestion of avoiding rhe dungeon. "Believe you me. I will only be here for potions class..." she nodded at that. She looked once more at Fawn and saw the mischief in Fawn's eyes. Oh... she wants to go back. "Fawn, lets get some dinner before it's gone. Ok?" she asked and was glad it was the right distraction. Kyra said her farewells then left for her dorm while Gina and Fawn went to have dinner.

Once in the grand hall, Gina grabbed some roast, potatoes, turnip, carrots, beans, corn, bread, and a drink to start her dinner. "What do you want to do tomorrow?" she asked more for the reason to learn ahead of time so I can distract her and dissuade some ideas. Plus she learned there were things like trap doors which meant she should bring her bag with and she will carry her book of spells always and they can try out one or two if it works. So while Fawn spilled her soul; Hina took notes for ideas.

Eventually it was time to head back to the doom with full bellies and happy kids. Gina greeted Me the mouse happily before getting ready for bed. She hoped Fawn would get up proper this time instead of staying asleep so late.

Markelm didn't for an instant believe that Elsie had fallen and gotten those scrapes from just an accident, but he let her believe that he believe that excuse. Even if she did get into an altercation with another student, he wasn't sure if he should get involved. That was normal kid stuff anyway, and stepping in and pushing Elsie to tell him what happened and then punishing the other children could be shown as favoritism. Markelm also thought back to when he was a child, getting into way too many scuffles and innocent duels in school. He was sure he had given his parents headaches with how often the school was sending his parents letters about his behavior. Markelm decided it was best to just observe and maybe go to her head of house to inquire how well she was getting along with the other students. When asked about the food he truthfully admitted that the houseelves had prepared it for him. Cooking was one of those things that he meant to figure out someday, especially being a single parent, but just never had the time or motivation to do..

"Probably not every weekend. I'm trying not to spoil you, you know." Dinner went well with with a lot of chatter. Her negative reports of her classmates made him wonder just how well she was getting along but there seemed to be some classmates and children in the school that she was getting along with. She spent a lot of time listening to him just talk about the magical creatures in his care and he had to dissuade her from wanting a hippogriff. He honestly didn't remember the incident with the gnome. "Don't remember that. But its probably because muggles aren't supposed to know about the wizarding world, so I had to come up with something." Elsie then asked about Unicorns and the dark forest. "I haven't seen one, and I could probably spend years here without encountering a Unicorn. Private creatures they are. I've been told that Dumbledore has encountered them, you should ask him. But the last thing I want you to do is try going into the Dark Forest to find any magical creatures. Its forbidden for a reason."

Before leaving, Elsie begged him to show her some more magic. Markelm decided to use a reducio spell on the chair she had been sitting on, shrinking it down to the size of a cup and then making it big again. Reducio was a spell that had served him quite well while thieving.. After showing off a bit, their evening together came to an end and Markelm send Elsie on her way back to the castle with express orders not to trip or fall anymore.

Kyra was nose deep into her astrology book, trying to make sense of it all and attempting to double check her star maps. She was pretty certain they were right.. maybe. Elsie would probably know if she was up here.. And it seemed just that thought summoned her friend just in the knick of time. Kyra didn't look up from her homework as Elsie greeted her and sat down. She wanted to finish writing out the name of what she hoped was the right constellation on her parchment. "Don't get me started." she replied, and was about to open her mouth to warn Elsie about hanging around with a certain Hufflepuff girl, but her words were cut short when she saw the clear signs of bruising on her cheek and the busted lip. "Great sizzling dragon bogies, Elsie! What happened to you?!" Kyra exclaimed, probably too loud as heads turned toward where the two of them were sitting. In a whirl of packing and book stuffing, Kyra gathered up her things. "Lets go to the dorm." She picked up her hazzardly packed bag and marched off toward the dorm stairs. If Elsie didn't want to go to the dorm, Kyra would practically drag and push her there. "I think I've got something in my trunk that might help that bruising. Jeepers, I'm glad Tiffany or that toady didn't see you. They'd have gone running straight to Professor Quagon." Kyra said, referring to that second year ravenclaw girl, Brandy who had a reputation for being a brown noser. The last thing they needed was their prefect and house teacher docking points for Elsie getting into a scuffle, which is what Kyra suspected happened. Once in the dorm and at their beds, Kyra opened her trunk and started to rumamge through it. "So what happened? she asked, and kinda shocked at how quickly her trunk was already becoming a mess. Elsie didn't seem to willing to talk about it, but after some pushing and prodding she finally got a version of what happened. "Slytherin are never up to any good.. Your lucky you only got out with bruises and not any serious jinxes." Kyra hoped that over the next few weeks Elsie would just forget about this and move on, but she could already tell Elsie was scheming some revenge.. "Mother put some weird creams and stuff in here, I think one of these can get rid of bruises.. I think." she muttered and realized she should have paid more attention to what her mother was saying. The only reason she didn't was because she thought her mother was far too concerned with how her daughter looked. And it wouldn't be proper if Kyra ever had bruises or bite marks or scratches or rashes or anything due to spell practicing or minor injuries coming from magical creatures or the green house, so Professor Hallow made sure Kyra had everything she needed to be well kept. "This is it. Try putting some of it on your lip and cheek and see if that helps. My mother makes it from various plants in our greenhouses" She stated and handed Elsie a small screw top jar with a pale blue cream inside. The cream was a mixture of rue, dittany, other herbs, and a bit of Bubotuber pus. It wasn't a super powerful healing mixture, but Kyra's mother used it in great effect to hide superficial wounds. Kyra waited while Elsie applied some of the cream. Kyra sighed afterward and once Elsie was done, put the balm back into her trunk. "You need to be more careful Elsie. Cut lips and bruises are the least of your worries in the wizarding world. But enough about that. How was dinner with your father?" Kyra asked and plopped down on her bed opposite her, smiling as Elsie talked about how her father had to have houseelves make the food, and how they chatted about magical creatures and whatnot. "Did you enjoy Diagon Ally?" she also asked, which sparked off a lot more talking with Kyra asking other questions in between or trying to clarify things about the wizarding world as best as she could. When Elsie talked about the jewelry store, and showed off her necklace, she then surprised Kyra with a matching bracelet. Kyra practically tackled Elsie in a hug and immediately put the bracelet on. "Its beautiful. Thank you so much!" she exclaimed once more and hugged Elsie again. Now Kyra felt kind of bad that she didn't have anything to give Elsie in return. She had meant to have fixed Markelms broken mug today, or try to, but a couple Hufflepuff ruined that plan of hers.. If Elsie asked what Kyra had done all day she'd tell her about her relaxing morning before lunching into her experience with Fawn and Gina, but leaving out the part about seeing the caretaker drinking some kind of potion or something locked in the cabinet. Kyra wasn't really positive she saw anything weird or suspicious and the last thing she wanted was to start churning a rumor mill. Though she figured eventually Fawn or Gina might fill in those parts to Elsie, but Kyra didn't really think Elsie would spend a lot of time with those two hufflepuff girls. "I think its best if we just steer clear of those hufflepuff girls. Trouble seems to follow that Fawn girl around everywhere and quite frankly, I'm not very fond of her. I do feel bad for Gina though.. I bet she's gonna get dragged into a log of trouble because of that girl." Afterward the two of them talked a bit more and Kyra pulled her homework back out. After noticing Elsie staring intently at her star charts, Kyra finally asked her if something was wrong and Elsie pointed out that she wasn't doing it right. Kyra gave an exasperated sigh and tried to fix it.. Other Ravenclaws began to filter into the dorms and it started to get late. Elsie expressed interest in joining Victor and Edgar in doing some caslte exploration tomorrow, but Kyra decided before passing out that she'd probably pass. She would probably spend a couple hours in the greenhouses anyway and she'd had enough exploring for the weekend..

Andrew had survived longer at Hogwarts than he had expected. The castle now bristled with energy and excitement for the Halloween feast. Floating orange candles cast a festive glow throughout and kids walked gleefully throughout the corridors pointing out the floating pumpkins and that enchanted bats that swooped down from the high ceilings. Orange streamers hung off every window and tapestry and many of the older students who were practiced enough with their wands were using a simple spell to make more streamers erupt from their wands. Goblets filled with pumpkin, bat, and ghost shaped candies were set about everywhere. The only person who didn't seem to be celebrating was that creepy caretaker who skulked about, mumbling to himself and cursing at all the clean up he was having to do. The ghosts of Hogwarts were in prime shape during this festival with Peeves especially. The king of pranks himself was causing more havoc than usual throughout the halls of Hogwarts.

Andrew enjoyed the festivities, but even after weeks of schooling, didn't really have anyone to enjoy those festivities with so after grabbing some candy, looking at the decorations, and watching the ghosts, he felt some of the joy drain out of him. "Maybe next year, during the sorting ceremoney, I'll march right up to that sorting hat and ask him if it made a mistake." he whispered in a voice deeper than his classmates. Andrew had become one of the easiest students at Hogwarts to spot, but also one of the hardest since he actively spent most of his time hiding or sitting in quiet corners. A quarter giant, he stood well taller than the other first years and even towered over students years older than he. Not only was he tall, but he was as wide as a tree. And to top it all off, he thought of himself as pretty ugly for a kid. It was like all his facial features didn't quite mesh well on his large head. His nose was already large and his eyebrows were super bushy. He decided to grow his hair out to hide his big dumb ears and he didn't even want to think about the rest of his body. He'd probably have a beard by his third year at hogwarts or something and his large feet made shoe shopping impossible so his parents had to get him custom shoes.. well, custom clothes in general for Hogwarts. The first week of school was dreadfully awful with other students pointing at him as he walked by, whispering about how one of his parents, or grand-parents must have mated with a disgusting giant. The slytherin students were especially cruel toward him, but Andrew learned long ago that if you didn't show any reaction to the ridiculing, name calling, or even the aggressive bullying, that kids would eventually lose interest and leave you alone. Now the slytherin kids only teased him when they were bored and couldn't find a better target to torture. All in all, Andrew the Giant, as kids had started to refer to him as, wasn't as enamored with life at Hogwarts like some of his fellow Gryffndor and it put a damper on his festive spirits. So he decided to do as he always did, find a quiet spot in one of the quiet hallways and hope there weren't some gross older kids snogging there.

Annie, much like her sister Tiffany, was a Ravenclaw through and through. While everyone else was gleefully moving about the castle, enjoying the Hallo'een festivities, she was in the library studying. She was always studying, she didn't have time for friends or fun. Annie was determined to be the best student out of all the first years. And more than that, she was determined to not only live up to her sisters reputation, but to surpass it. Her sister Tiffany was awarded the Prefect title this year, an achievement their parents treated as the greatest accomplishment of her life so far, and Annie was determined to do the same. It was only unfair, or so she thought, that you could only be a prefect during your fifth year at Hogwarts. Annie thought she'd already make a fine Prefect already. She was quick to answer teacher questions, with a very high 95% accuracy. She was keen, always keeping a look out for fellow students with a tendency to cause trouble. She had so far, only gained their house points by answering questions correctly and hasn't lost Ravenclaw points. She WOULD win the House Cup for Ravenclaw this year, she was determined. Before coming to Hogwarts she was convinced that she would be the smartest first year in all of Hogwarts. That illusion had been somewhat blemished as there were more academically gifted children in her class than she thought was possible, and to make it worse, some of them were absolute troublemakers and to make it even worse, one of those girls was a Ravenclaw. Annie couldn't imagine such a disgrace. That red headed girl, Elsie, had unexpected her with how studious, organized, and intellectual she was. Elsie had shown to be one of the brightest first year potion students, a natural born flyer, and had impressed their own head teacher with her enthusiasm and gift for astronomy. And to top it off, the girl was quick with her wand. Annie thought she'd be a true threat for best student if it wasn't for her mischievous nature and way of breaking things. Who would break their wand on their first week of school? And show up late for class?! AND ATTEMPT TO CAST A SPELL CLEARLY TOO ADVANCED AND WIND UP CAUSING A STICKY MESS IN THEIR OWN DORM ROOM. And if that wasn't worse, Annie was pretty sure she saw Elsie hanging around about recently with that train wreck of a Hufflepuff girl, Fawn. Fawn was already regarded as the first year clown. At least Annie could expect Fawn to get expelled sooner rather than later for rule breaking, but Elsie seemed much more careful. Slytherin had their own bright students, Angel De Luca and Joanoah. Not only did they seem to excel in their schoolwork, they were the pack leaders of the rest of the Slytherin. Annie suspected that those two were more clever than smart and had found ways to cheat their way through classes. Hufflepuff wasn't a house completely full of free spirited idiots though and there were some students there who were great at certain subjects. And Gryffndor always had been known for producing witches and wizards of exceptional skill. But Ravenclaw, of all the houses, was known for its achieving students who go on to do great things. Other first year boys and girls were also smart. Kyra Hallow already set herself apart in Herbology and she seemed very good in Transfiguration and charms. The worst part of it was that Kyra and Elsie were best friends and the two of them complimented each other well. Where one seemed to lack in a subject, the other was strong. And it wasn't fair that both of them had parents that were professors at Hogwarts. Such an unfair advantage. Annie didn't have the same disliking for Kyra as she did Elsie though. The two of them had actually studied together a few times, and Annie had begrudingly gone to Kyra for help in Herbology and was surprised at how compassionate the silver haired girl was at giving her time to helping her. She thought the girl would be as reckless as Elsie, but they were total opposites. Annie didn't understand how the two of them were best friends and anytime she brought up Elsies penchant for trouble, Kyra was quick to defend Elsie, so Annie stopped directly bringing it up. Anytime that Elsie came by to distract Kyra and Annie from studying, she always gave her this overly enthusiastic hello that didn't feel authentic at all, adding another tally mark for reasons why Annie was disliking what she was considering to be her rival within Ravenclaw.

Annie blinked and realized she was spending too much time thinking of things that weren't academically related, so she hunched over her book in the library and went back to studying.

The weeks between the beginning of school and Hallo'een saw Fawn get into even more trouble, explore more of Hogwarts, and bring Gina along with her. Fawn was even more gleeful that the phoenix had started to join in on the adventuring and the two of them together had begun to spend at least a couple evenings after class roaming Hogwarts and trying to find secret passages and rooms. Disappointment set in every time the Unicorn decided not to join them, which was most of the time and even begging, pleading, offering up tributes, or pestering Elsie on getting Kyra to come along to, didn't seem to change the silver haired girls mind. Fawn was even brought along a couple times when Elsie and those two older boys went adventuring and those two had great knowledge of the castle and some of its secret passages. They even had a map which Fawn tried making a copy, albeit bad copy, of. Gina had done pretty good at stabalizing her and getting her to focus on homework after class, to a point where she would probably just skirt by well enough to pass her classes. But Fawn still dreaded homework. Classes weren't interesting enough to keep her attention, and she had already served a couple detentions. Halloween brought out even more energy from Fawn as she zoomed about grabbing handfuls of candy from the goblets, attempted to jump into the air to grab the floating pumpkins, and laughed hysterically at Peeve's pranks and jokes. All in all, the year was going by pretty good so far. The only downer was that Gina was surprisingly good at finding her stashes of candy and left Fawn with a very small hoard at the end of the day. Fawn even tried having a tantrum when Gina found the pillowcase of Candy she had put together shortly after morning feast had finished. Fawn had no idea that it was the holes in her pockets and the trail of candy on the floor that led Gina straight into the dungeons, into the common rooms, into the dorm, and to Fawns bed and pillowcase..

For Clyde, Hogwarts up to this point had settled into normalcy and routine. No longer could he impress his friends with the fact that he touched a girls boobie, and the incident seemed all but forgotten. He hadn't had any grand adventures and mostly just hung out with his pals while trying to study and finish his homework. Of course the festivities were great and even the frog choir was assembled to sing songs at breakfast, which was bloody fantastic, but he felt a bit disappointed that he hadn't found any passages, gotten to fight off any werewolves, or really learn any super cool spells. He was still having trouble with the basic spells they had learned up to this point.. but he was becoming a pretty good flier so his hopes of being on the quidditch team next year was worth looking forward too.

Victor and his brother settled quickly into their second year and continued on much as they had in their first year, this time with the addition of a first year Ravenclaw girl joining them on their explorations. Victor was actually quite happy that he and his brother still spent this time together, and Elsie didn't seem like a burden at all... in fact, his brother seemed very okay with her tagging along which was kind of a surprise since he knew how private and quiet his brother had become since they were split into different houses. Elsie seemed to enjoy the thrill of exploration more than even he and Victor felt kinda like an older brother would, showing her all the ropes, how to dodge professors in the halls, and keep away from that creepy caretaker who looked more evil this year than the previous year. She seemed like a very keen troublemaker and Victor loved making trouble.. For the Hallo'een festivities he decided to see if his brother was busy or not. He could have hung out with his other pals if he had wanted to, but if given the choice he'd always hang out with his twin brother during free periods or holidays.

Kyra had been quite pleased to make it this far into the school year without getting into anymore trouble. Even though Elsie always insisted they go walking about, or sneak off somewhere they probably shouldn't be, it never landed them into further trouble. Thankfully the sneaking about was kept at a minimal since Elsie had gained a different set of friends who were more than willing to do all the exploring in Kyra's place. Both Victor and Edgar seemed like nice boys, despite their tendency to sneak about the castle. They were bright, respectful, and witty. Best of all, it seemed those two knew just how far they could push the envelope without getting into serious trouble. Kyra even joined them a time or two, using the excuse of I suppose I should get to know the school layout a bit better as the reason that she went. Her mother had been keeping quite an eye on her after the first rocky week of school so Kyra was extra careful to give her mother no more reasons to be disappointed in her. Kyra was less pleased with the fact that Elsie had started keeping company with the one person in all of Hogwarts that she told Elsie to not make friends with. Fawn was unpredictable, chaotic, loud, and not very subtle and Elsie seemed to be very attracted to all of those qualities. It didn't take long for her to notice Elsie and Fawn hanging around together and going off on some half baked adventure that Fawn concocted in that looney brain of hers. Elsie would invite her along, but Kyra put her foot down and insisted that she wouldn't be caught outside of the dorms with Fawn. If Elsie wanted to cause house Ravenclaw even more trouble, she had to do it on her own. Even though Kyra always preferred to spend time with Elsie than the other students, those moments when her friend was off scouring the school with the Thorton twins or Fawn gave Kyra time to study and relax. If she couldn't find Elsie, then she had started asking the Ravenclaw girl Annie if she wanted to study and the two of them got along quite well, even if Annie didn't seem to like Elsie that much. That boy Taylor had on several occasions asked Kyra if she could help him study and she was always glad to. In Herbology she had taken on more of an assistant role for her mother than actually participating in the class itself. Kyra had already learned quite a lot about the plants they were tending to in their first year and handled most of these at home before ever coming to Hogwarts, so she was more than willing to help out the other kids her age. Even some of the slytherins seemed to appreciate her help. Joanoah still made constant snide remarks toward her, and it seemed that boy had teamed up with Angel De Luca, a first year Slytherin girl of very wealthy upbringing. Those two were already the worst bunch to run into and kids were starting to avoid them in the halls if they could. Joanoah and Angel De Luca themsevles weren't the biggest bullies in Slytherin, but the rest of the slytherin first years seemed to jump on command when those two whispered things into their ears.

The only thing that hadn't seem to go well over the last few weeks was the caretakers attitude throughout the school. Artemis had grown more surly and most students thought it was because of Peeves and his Hallo'een antics, but Kyra knew differently. Every morning she would glance up at the professors table and see the man just glaring at her and then look away. She wasn't sure if it was just a coincidence or if he actually knew she had seen him in that storage closet, drinking a strange potion. She hoped it was coincidence but anytime she saw him glaring at her, it just sent chills coursing through her body. Part of the reason she had become so willing to help other students study was that it gave her an excuse not to travel about alone. the last thing she wanted was to run into the man alone in the hallways.

School had gone about as expected for the young Ollie. The first year Slytherin boy kept mostly to himself, which was how he preferred it. He had avoided getting wrapped up into the schemes of his other slytherin, but not without much pestering. Angel De Luca seemed more keen than Joanoah about inducting him into their posse of troublemakers and schemers. Ollie really had no interest in pranking Gryffndor and Ravenclaw kids or making fun of some of the more looney Hufflepuff boys and girls. He spent his time going to and from the library, checking out books and trying to make sense of all of this wizarding stuff. He wished that all the professors would skip all the boring stuff and just jump straight to the interesting spells and potions, the useful stuff and exciting stuff you hear in wizarding stories and see in the newspapers. He had an especially unusual interest in the history of dark wizards. Not because of the evil things they had done, but because of their exceptional knowledge and skill at using their wands and for brewing exceptional potions. Because of his lack of interest in being a bully, he actually found many of his fellow first years outside of Slytherin to be rather cordial, if not pleasant even if he had no interest in making friends with them. They left him alone, and in return, he did the same. His own slytherin house thought him veyr un-slytherin, but according to his book, Slytherins were cunning, shrewd, ambitious, strong leaders and achievement oriented. That didn't mean they had to push everyone down in their rise to the top. Ollie did like the festivities of Hallo'een, but mostly because he was enchanted by all the enchantments used to make the pumpkins and candles float and stay lit. There were streamers flying about the halls and bats, both of magic and those that were real, swooped down from the rafters. He had witnessed last night Professor Dumbledore going about the school with the Care for Magical Creatures Professor, Markelm, putting up many of the decorations. Dumbledore needed no introduction though, and everyone already knew he was a talented and very respected wizard. Ollie looked forward to his classes the most.

Kyra was lucky when Edgar and Victor had come hanging around the Ravenclaw tower early on Hallo'een morning, just waiting for Elsie to either walk out, or to catch another Ravenclaw to go fetch her. Apparently they had heard a rumor about a secret passage that only opened up during Hallo'een and wanted to go searching for it. Kyra passed, but the second Elsie waved bye and passed through the common room door, Kyra headed upstairs to the dorms. She flipped opened her trunk and hastily grabbed the ingredients to the Pompion Potion she wanted to brew for her and Elsie. Both as a surprise, and to prove to herself that she wasn't horrible at potions. The potion required crushed Flitterby Moth, which she acquired by trading some Alihotsy leaves she... borrowed.. from the greenhouse, for already crushed Flitterby Moth. The potion also called for Bouncing Bulb and Foxglove, both which were aplenty in the greenhouses and easy to harvest when he mother wasn't looking. She felt guilty for taking ingredients this way but she knew going to Professor Gine would probably not get her anywhere when it came to acquiring potion ingredients for potion brewing outside of class. With her vials, beakers, caludron, scale, and supplies in hand, Kyra had left the Ravenclaw commons room. She poked her head out from behind the bronze door to make sure a certain creepy caretaker wasn't around. She wasn't sure if it was just a coincidence, but she seemed to be seeing him in the hallways a lot recently.. and her gut told her it wasn't accidental but she couldn't just straight accuse him of stalking her when she wasn't even sure if he was doing anything worth reporting. Kyra hoisted her bag snuggly onto her shoulder and stepped into the hallway. Her next step would be to the library to find the right book on brewing the Pompion potion. On the way she stopped and chatted with other students and friends and admired the decorations. There was candy aplenty scattered throughout the school so she grabbed a handful after leaving the library where the kind old librarian held her up for ten minutes to talk about the mysticism of books and knowledge. Finally she wound up on the first floor and peeked into the Artefact Roomm unaware that the Caretaker had been following her from afar. Thankfully it was empty and Kyra slipped into the room and closed the door behind her. She thought about locking or blocking the door with something, but she felt like that would make her behavior even more suspicious. This was the first time she had been back in here after that incident with Fawn and Gina and she shuddered a bit as she looked at the closed cabinet that held the secret passage to that creepy storage room in the dungeons. She tried to put it out of her mind as she laid out all her supplies on the floor and began preparing the ingredients. She had another surprise for Elsie, assuming she could successfully brew this potion. She had finally gotten her Reparo spell to work well enough to fix Markelm's mug proper, so she was going ot make the potion and pour some for Elsie into that mug and give it to her. Then the two of them could walk around Hogwarts together with pumpkins for heads for a while. It was sure to be a good time and if they had any potions leftover they could share with some of the other girls.

Markelm had spent much of the night before and early hours of the day helping with the decorations. Professor Dumbledore and several others had been kind enough to assist him and things went fairly smooth even with the intervention of Peeves who seemed to be in quite high spirits. That ghost would no doubt cause his share of troubles today but Markelm had noted early on as his tenure of Professor here that if any person in the school could reign in Peeves it was either Dumbledore or Headmaster Armando Dippett. Professor Gine had assisted him earlier in the month in brewing him some growing potions to make the pumpkins he grew much larger than a normal pumpkin and Professor Hallow had supplied him with some plants that helped set a spooky mood but that would cause no danger to students. Between that and making his daily rounds in taking care of his magical creatures, Markelm found himself quite tired even by morning breakfast. He thought he had plans with Elsie later on this evening, but would remember to check the letter she had sent him the day before to confirm. He hoped to slip off to Hogsmead sometime during the day to relax and sip some butterbeer, surrounded by other adults instead of kids. The school year up till now had gone pretty well. He had a few misteps along the way but he was slowly learning how to manage children and keep them from killing themselves along the way. He had a few unfortunate accidents already involving some of his magical creatures and his older students, but nothing that the nurse couldn't handle, even if she did seem annoyed every time he escorted a injured student to the hospital wing. All in all, he got the impression that most of the students enjoyed his lectures. Elsie still came for dinner once every weekend, and thankfully she seemed to be staying out of trouble with no visible signs of fighting or getting hurt. As for his relationship with the other professors, he got along well with Professor Quagon just fine and the two of them had started a sort of friendship. He got along well enough with Professor Gine, Erwood, and Professor Normal. He still avoided Professor Shimpett if he could and knew that man would never act favorably toward him. Professor Dumbledore had gotten Markelm in touch with a marvelous young man to whom Markelm could write to on advice regarding magical creatures which had made his job remarkably easier. Markelm all in all, was feeling pretty positive about things at Hogwarts.

Dinner with her father was wonderful and even though he said no to a Hippogriff; Elsie had that turned into a yes in the back of her head. After all; she had been doing that to all of his "We'll see" comments. Though she was a bit annoyed learning he outright lied to coverup a magical thing. Maybe his we'll see were lies as well... plus he never told her the truth about her past... and...and never told her they were going to hogwarts. This whole school transfer was a huge surprise. And and he never told her what happened to her birth parents... What else was he hiding? Maybe she would go to Professor Dumbledore about the Unicorns after all.

Back at the Ravenclaw tower, she was glad to see Kyra and was surprised how motherly Kyra got about Elsie's bruises. Even though Elsie insisted she was fine, Kyra dragged her to the dorm and went to find a healing cream. Elsie was also baffled why Professor Quagon would be notified about a simple busted lip but this school was weird. They had kids breaking arms on stairs but be punished for being out past curfew. The sheer principle of the thing seemed to be more important than the fact a child was hurt. It was weird. Her thoughts were interrupted when handed the healing salve which she gave a proper sniff before applying it to her face. She finally admitted, after some prodding, that she had been attacked by a gang of Slytherins but she didn't know who they were... yet. She tried to make light of the attack but did use some of the cream on her ribs showing that she had been kicked as well as punched.

The girls then talked about Elsie's day out with Markelm; and questions on both sides were answered. Like for instant WHY goblins of all things worked at the bank. And WHERE did you get such a cute outfit? Elsie tried not to brag about her day out but she for sure bragged about her new wand and showed off the color changing ribbon. She finally showed the necklace and surprised Kyra with the bracelet. She had been so nervous about Kyra's reaction that she nearly fell over when tackled with the hug. Smiling happily she laughed as she hugged Kyra back very glad and relieved the present was liked. Eventually her story was done and she scooped Pyx up to sit more comfortably while she asked Kyra about her day.

Elsie NEEDED to go to that room and use that trap door. Explore that junk. The entire day sounded WONDERFUL! "I bet we can learn some kind of unlock spell in one of these books..." She grinned as she looked at her bookshelf then glanced at Kyra's messy area. Well... maybe they could learn from her books... and the warning sbout Fawn getting into trouble only further fuelled her want to hang out. Though, she kept that thought to herself as the girls settled for bed.

By the time Halloween arrived Elsie was happily nibbling on breakfast while planning out her day. She had dinner plans with her father that night since it was Saturday. Sure Markelm had planned to not make the dinners weekly, but every Saturday evening Elsie showed up dressed up with a grin on her face. Markelm had lost that fight. Especially when he came home late one Saturday night finding a very long note taped to the hut from a very angry Elsie saying she will be there Sunday for their dinner. Now he gave her note by owl early as he knew that day if dinner would be on Sunday instead. So it became a weekly event and they caught up on school, and Elsie managed to convince him to do small spells now and then or talk about other beasties. Their evening's were only a few hours but priceless to Elsie.

On that Halloween, Elsie had a wide list of things to do. She was notorious for finishing her homework early and having a perfectly filed note system for every class. While she had high marks in all classes, suprisingly even defence against the dark arts, Elsie also had favorite teachers. Three in particular. Dumbledore, Gine, and Quagon. Sure flying class could be fun now and then, the fundamentals were booooring. And Elsie was ahead of most of her classmates. Where in potions? She may be the top of her class, Professor Gine let her explore. Dumbledore liked going off topic and had a fun way to teach. And Astronomy was amazing!!! She was already a helper in that class.

Elsie decided as she munched on a fruit tart that it was the perfect time to get into position for the prank she had set up early this morning. Elsie had never been a morning person. Unless she had plans. She could be awake before the sun then. And that morning she had been out tying a bucket to the quad's statue and hiding the rope trap under leaves. See; for the last few weeks Elsie had been saving rotting food and it helped her gather a full bucket of maggots and grossness. She had been plotting ever since she pinpointed which Slytherins beat her up earlier. It was easy to gather the informstion. They laughed and bragged about it to a large group of friends then were linked to attack books that went after some of her fellow Ravenclaws. So, she plotted. The bullies always sat under the statue every weekend staking out the best area with other Slytherin trash. They tossed down their bags as they growled at some students for looking at them when the bucket trigger tripped and down came the grossness. Laughter rippled in the quad though there were some whispers as people admitted whoever pranked those Slytherin were brave! Because Slytherin always paid back a prank. Always. Elsie flipped the page in her book and smirked as she heard the screams of disgust, rather satified those maggots got what they deserved. Thats what they get for messing with my house, and for messing with me. She had no idea this would start yet another prank war. But that was for another day.

Later that day, Elsie went off to explore for a bit with the twins making sure not to run into Fawn and Gina. She knew for a fact Fawn would terrify poor Edgar. She smirked remembering the time she convinced Fawn that hand maps passed on secret information to others when Fawn smeared ink onto others like that so she better learn to make a proper map sometime. Fawn suddenly stopped using hand maps and Elsie smugly never had to deal with ink smudges brushed up against her or stains on her clothes because of Fawn's hand maps. What Fawn did for maps after was no matter. The smudged ink was gone! Elsie chuckled at that and got the attention of Edgar. He had been talking about the map they were making which got her thinking of Fawn's hand maps. Not sure if anyone could ever fully map Hogwarts but gosh darn it they were going to try!
