What animal do you most associate with each character?
If you couldn't guess from my username and avi, I obviously associate Levi with a raccoon-- a tidy thief. Though I suppose now his thug life days are over and he's more of a domesticated raccoon.
Armin reminds me of a rabbit, but it has more to do with his intelligence and surprising strength when provoked.
but those are really the only characters I have strong animal associations for and I'd love to hear your opinions and reasoning for them and all the other characters.

This is a good question/topic.
Hmmm -thinks hard-
Well, reiner reminds me of a bull, strong, stable, grounded.
Bertholdt…..Maybe a whale of some sort, strong, but mild tempered, and kind of docile?
Annie, Some kind of Lone wolf, or mountain lion.
Ymir- a fox. She's kind of sly, i guess.
Krista- A doe. Innocent, sweet.
Sasha. ( a vulture? because they like to eat leftovers, I'm totally kidding sasha, XD) Umm, maybe a baby lion, either way she'd have to be some animal with a huge appetite.
Connie. Some sort of bird, he's very agile.
Eren. Like a Ram or something. Very hot tempered.
Mikasa. Umm, she's very loyal, i think she'd be a wolf of sort too, but not a lone wolf, a wolf that stands with it's pack.
(I agree with you about Levi & Armin)
Jean: ………(i'll get back to him…???)
Hanji: An owl or something smart, plus owls kind of look like they are wearing specs already, or am i the only one that see's this? XD I guess she could be a monkey too.
Erwin: Something leader like. Like a lion.
…..Im not sure how accurate these seem, but eh, that was my try at it.

Gives of a high and mighty vibe but is really brash and willful and easily spooked!! HAH! INNOCENT KRISTA! oh man those days are so over. . . unless you don't read the manga then ignore me. . . she's like.. a unicorn or something... hella cute but also hella powerful. . . omg Connie and Sasha are both tiny poofy birds that just beep and eat seeds and bugs all day and if ERWIN gets to be a lion then I get to be a tiger!!!!!!

Reiner - Some big beast. A big old bear? Something fuzzy and soft but dangerous.

Levi: Cat, black cat, or raven
Erwin: some fabulous golden retriever
Hanji/Hange: A monkey
Petra: Butterfly or dove
Eren: Pup
Mikasa: Kitten
Armin: Hamster
Ymir: Feline maybe. A pheonix?
Krista: Bunny. Mouse.
MARCO: too many ideas, sheep, Dalmatian, goldfish...
JEAN: too many ideas, German Shepard, shark...
