Personality
xxStubborn-- Good luck ever convincing Mori to do something that she doesn't want to do. When she thinks something is the best course of action, nothing short of a miracle will change her mind. On the one hand, her stubbornness means that she is guaranteed to always stick to her convictions and beliefs, if she doesn't think something is right she won't do it. It tends to make working with others rather difficult at times.
xxDependable-- Good or bad, rain or shine, Mori is and will always be there to help a pal in need. Mori's rather predictable once you get to know her and the things that make her tick. Loyal to a fault, when Mori says she's going to do something she'll get it done. She can't abide by people who go against their word.
xxMothering-- Mori is and always will be the mother of the groups. She is a natural nurturer, and will put the needs of others above her own so much that she often forgets to take care of herself.
xxPatient-- Mori has one of the longest fuses of anyone you'll ever meet. Dealing with a group of unruly orphans has made Mori very understanding and has taught her how to look at conflicts from every angle. Because of this, Mori is a natural conflict mediator. It takes a lot to get Mori angry or upset, but when she does get angry watch out. Mori can keep a grudge for a very long time.
xxPossessive-- Mori is very possessive of the people and things she cares about. This often turns into jealousy and resentment when she feels that she's being left out or replaced.
History
xxMoriko remembers very little of her parents. Her father left her mother, Toshiko, before Mori was born. She remembers her mother telling her the story of how they met as children. He helped her escape from a gang of thugs and the two were inseparable for years. Whenever Mori asked her mother about where her father had gone or what had happened to him her mother would change the subject or tell her to be quiet. To this day Mori has no idea if her father is dead or alive. Either way, she gave up hope of reuniting with him years ago.
After years of struggling to survive, let alone feed her young daughter, Toshiko decided to take up employment as a maid at one of the Black Star’s lavish mansions when Moriko was just four. Moriko doesn’t remember much of that time. All she remembers is that her kind and good natured mother suddenly became cold and distant, rarely smiling or spending any time with her daughter. This went on for a year until Toshiko was raped a killed by a street gang while walking home at night.
After her mother’s death, little five-year-old Moriko was left to fend for herself like so many other orphaned children. After a few weeks of scavenging in the streets of the center of the city, Mori met up with a small group of other orphans led by sixteen-year-old Haru Nakamura. Haru, after watching Mori quickly sneak in a house and steal some food, was impressed by her speed and stealth, and offered to let her join their group.
Haru and the others taught Mori all the skills she would need to survive on the streets, and Mori easily adapted. Mori grew attached to Haru and the others fairly quickly, and soon began to think them as her extended family. As the years went by and Mori got better at stealing, she began to start doing more for the other kids, especially the younger ones. No one asked her to. There was an unspoken rule amongst the group that everyone pull their own weight and put their own needs first before worrying about the others, but around the age of eight Mori began ignoring that rule to look after the ones that were struggling to get by. This made her very popular with the others, and soon she was being referred to as Momma Mori.
Despite the norm of people leaving the group around the age of seventeen or eighteen, Mori stayed to look after them. She’s considered the leader of this small group of eleven ragtag orphans. Mori has no desire to leave and try to make a living on her own. These children are her family, and she will never abandon them, despite all these strange dreams she’s been having of late.
