Awendela
The journey was uneventful for which Awendela thanked the stars, the people were quiet though soft murmurs echoed through the group mainly from her own people who slowly started to realize their situation the farther they travel and soon even they were as silent as the pale ones.
At the cave everyone broke into small groups, her people handed out thick furs for the everyone to sleep on, small fires helped warm the large cavern like cave against the coming chill. She looked to the skys and had a feeling there would be a frozen sheet over the ground in the morning. The sooner they got where she wanted to take them the better, it did not help that they were traveling north as well.
After checking in on an elderly woman and giving her a tea to help with her aching bones, she checked on a child who had twisted her ankle and wrapped it tightly with a thick cooling slave which would help with the inflammation and informed her mother that the child should ride on the trailer for the rest of the trip. and walk as little as possible but that it wasn't broken so it should heal swiftly.
Once her healing rounds were done, she spoke with the five warriors about sentry duty outside the cavern, spoke with Bear ensuring everyone was served a bowl of stew he had made, checked on the horses where one of the male pale ones, John, helped Loi tend to them. He had a gentle touch with the horses and they liked him very much. She smiled at John and thanked him for his help, he gave her a soft smile before returning to the grooming on her own horse. She knew the healing power horses could have and it seem to help the man.
Loi nodded her head to Awendela, "he is good with the horses, better then I, would think he would be a great horse master for our tribe, Cheiftess."
"We shall see. There is still so much to do and inform these people, they may not even chose to stay with us."
"They need us, they have no where else to do."
"What about us?"
Loi frown and looked at her feet, Awendela patted her shoulder before walking away and back inside the cave, finally sitting down before a fire. Bear offered her a bowl of soup but she shook her head, she was not hungry. She looked at the children sad and scared.
She began to sing soft, sweet but mournfully a traditional song of her people when loves ones have been lost. Her voice filled the cavern even though she barely rose her voice. It swirled around them like a warm blanket.
Slow her voice faded leaving behind utter silent.
Some wept silently while not understanding the word they still understood the meaning, others the children mainly had fallen asleep to her voice.
Awendela stood and left the cave to be outside, she sent Loi and John inside, her hand on her horse's neck, who huffed in her ear as she look out into the night.
