Out of the numb void came passion and heat, and will too strong to be denied. Order and chaos- Ahnmik and Anhamirak- began their eternal dance, and from the embers of their battle, the world was born.
In the days when the world was young and the first civilizations were being built with the sweat and blood of slavery, there lived a small civilization on the outskirts of society, led by a coven of thirteen men and women called the Dasi. It is said that these thirteen were able to read the thoughts of mortals, and that they could bewitch any who looked upon them. When they danced their rituals together, they could summon the spirits of the dead, make the rain fall or cause illusions to rise from the earth. Among their pantheon, they worshiped the dual powers Anhamirak and Ahnmik. Anhamirak granter of life, light, love and all manner of beauty; her greatest gift to her people was free will. As all things must, she had an opposite. One prayed to Ahnmik for power, sleep and silent peace. He was not an evil god, but with power came force, and so while Anhamirak gave this world freedom and equality, Ahnmik’s gifts included bondage and mastery. Each side could not exist without the other, and so the speakers for this darker god stood as revered in the Dasi as Anhamirak’s. The twin powers were held in a precarious balance by the high priestess of the Dasi, Maeve. One day a creature by the name Leben appeared to Maeve. At first she thought he was a god, an incarnation of Anhamirak’s son, Namid, and she bowed down to him. Then he ordered her coven to worship him alone-at which point Maeve realized that, for all his power, he was not a god, for any true god would know that only chaos would follow if the balance was lost. Knowing the danger he posed to her people if angered, but unwilling to surrender to his demands, Maeve seduced him, and in an attempt to win her favor, he gave her ageless beauty, and the second form of a viper with ivory scales. She insisted he do the same for all her people. Leben gave the ebony scales and garnet eye’s of a king cobra to Kiesha, high priestess of Anhamirak, and other graceful serpent forms to seven of her followers. The four whose worship fell to Ahnmik- Cjarsa, Araceli, Syfka and Servos- were given the majestic wings and deadly talons of falcons. The magic Ahnmik had given the falcons, combined with Leben’s gifts, was strong and dangerous, and soon they were driven from the clan for their reckless practice of it. Maeve’s ivory-scaled kin were soon forced to follow, as the white vipers too fell to Ahnmik’s lures and abandoned the balance they had once revered. Reluctantly, Kiesha rose to power, and from her daughter the Endor line descends. Cjarsa willingly rose to power of the Avian people and from her son the Misrahe line began. The two clans fought for many years after the coven had split, the Falcon’s angered for having been cast out and the serpents desperately trying to regain the balance they once had. Maeve had slipped into the background in all this bloodshed, keeping her people safe, living as outcasts in the woods until the day Kiesha’s kin would allow them back into the fold. Once they had been the protectors and leaders of their people, priests and priestesses of the eight great powers, led by Maeve and kept in balance by her guidance. Now the powers were unbalanced. The stain left on their bodies was nothing compared to the uncontrollable magic’s that had ripped through each of the Dasi in Maeve’s absence. The serpents blamed the Falcon’s, saying their worship of death and darkness had led to this destruction; the falcons retaliated, spitting their own accusations against the chaos-worshipers. In the dark of night the leaders of the two clans met, hoping to come to an understanding and solution that could result in peace between them, but little did they know the gods had other plans for them. The two began to argue viciously and soon began to fight, throwing their powerful magic’s at one another. Weary and faint from battle, the two rose to their feet once more and lashed out with all the strength they could muster. The weight of their magic driving them to their knees, neither one willing to give in. The Cobra screamed. And the Falcon shrieked. The spells they had created shredded each other’s magic, tearing it into two. One half of Anhamirak’s power remained in the cobra, while the other half is said to have moved on to find another vessel, creating the wolves. Ahnmik’s power too had torn in half, part remaining with the Falcon and the other moving on to grace a young woman with the luxurious form of a tiger. This is how the people of our world began.

Welcome to Sha'Ahnleh!

Welcome! My name is Eric and I am your Thread Captain as well as Guild Vice-Captain. XD This is simply a post for me to welcome new members to the thread, let you know what we're about and to lay down some simple rules and guidelines.
First let me just say that in this roleplay you should expect some violence and gore as well as romance. Also know that we do encourage some drama but please do not go overboard with it.
Many of our members are Semi-Lit to Lit Roleplayers, I do not expect you to write me a book, but I do expect a minimum of two(2) paragraphs (4 proper sentences each) per post, though I do understand WB and will forgive it every now and then. I do ask that you try to add a little to your posts though, at least a picture (we prefer Anime), Character name and perhaps even a lyric or two from a song.
Also, I realize that we are all human and do have lives outside of Gaia so please don’t feel like you have to post every single day, but do try to be on whenever you have the time. (An absolute minimum of 2 posts a month - Guild Rules) And if you are going to be gone for long periods of time please let others know so we are not waiting on you just to ream you out for ditching. wink But we do understand when life happens and you can't find the time to let us know why you are gone. All we ask is that you try. If you have an issue with another member of the Thread I ask that you please try to solve it peaceably between yourselves. If your issue lies with the Thread itself then please feel free to send me a detailed PM so I may know and understand the issue you have as well as try to resolve it.
I will assume that you have read the home page of the Guild as well as the first post of this Thread and are in the understanding that this Roleplay revolves around the conflict of the Avian and Serpente people. If you wish not to be a part of this conflict then you may choose from one of the other species of shifters we have. They are the Wolves, Tigers and Nomad Lions (These are mostly mercenaries). You will find a summary of each Clan/Species in the ‘Species of the Land’ Post below. Also, please note when making your character that you will not be allowed to have White Vipers, Cobras or Falcons as a first Character. These are reserved for persons who have shown their loyalty to the Guild/Thread and those that have proven they can handle such a role.
In this Roleplay only the Royal Families are allowed to wield magic, these are the Falcons and the Cobras. The White Vipers are also allowed to wield a limited amount of magic, such as healing, weaving Sakkri (Visions of the past, present and future) and some minor defensive magic (like power shields and things like that) Also, clan healers will (obviously) be allowed the use of healing magic, but there will be a limit of two (2) healers per clan.
Now, I know I said Romance was to be expected but when making your relationships please take into account how your relationship would be seen by others. Example) If an Avian were to mate with a Serpente their relationship would have to be kept secret for the simple fact that both clans would have them exiled just for speaking to each other and any child produced would likely be killed before it could take its first breath. This does not mean you cannot have such relationships, but please know that it will not be easy to do so and could result in the loss of your characters. I'm not saying this will happen for all pairings, or that it will even happen at all, but please keep in mind that it is a possibility for pairings of great conflict. (If a Lion and a Tiger were to mate no one would think anything of it.)
In the event that a child is conceived you can a find detailed summary of how the conception of children will take place in the 'Children of the Land' post below as well as the rules that apply to this.
Also, PLEASE read through EVERY post in this Thread as they may contain important information, such as rules, that pertain to the information following it. Not to mention some major/minor/minjor details pertaining to the story at hand.
The basic Rules that Everyone MUST follow
1. Follow Gaia T.O.S. 2. PM all profiles to ME! (Title : Sha'Ahnleh) 3. All members are allowed a maximum of seven (7) characters. (A limit of Two (2) Royals.) 4. Have Fun mrgreen 5. No godmoding/auto hitting/No killing off characters without getting an 'OK' from the Rper first. 6. I reserve the right to add/change the rules as we go along. (Not really a rule. XP )

Description:The Avian people possess simple beauty, often seen with hair colors ranging from golden blondes to rusted reds with the feathers of their truest forms upon their nape and brilliant eyes of the same colors. Like real birds the Avian people have extremely efficient respiratory systems, with body temperatures much higher than those of ordinary humans. All Avian people are capable of assuming a Demi-form where they retain human shape while sprouting their avian wings. The Falcon Royal’s are almost always seen in the public eye, wearing the wings of their Demi-form. (Only falcons with unstable magic are forbidden to wear their wings openly. These would be Quemak{Mongrel} or Kajaes{born without magic} falcons.) The Avian people are ruled by Falcons and through the masculine line, the King, who is known as the "Alistair” (meaning “protector”), does the succession fall. Customarily the reign of the Alistair ends when his eldest son sires a pure Falcon male child, thus ensuring continuation of the line. Where the Avian people value Music, art and Storytelling, the Falcon Royals also value dance and above all else they value children. Pure Falcon children are rare; as it is not very often that another falcon, which is not of their bloodline, joins them. Children between falcons and other Avians do not always come with great happiness as some children may be born Quemak, Kajaes or even as a normal avian child(taking after the mother) and these children cannot rise to the throne. Falcons usually have fair skin and blonde hair. Their eyes can be any shade of sapphire to blue-green, as well as silver and sometimes violet. Their hair usually develops blue, indigo or violet streaks as they get more familiar with their magic. (The un-dyed strands of hair are always pinned back, allowing the colored ones to be seen more clearly) The Alistair's consort (Pair-bond or Pair, rarely another Falcon) is referred to as the “Tuuli Thea”. In Avian society men are expected to protect and honor their female Pair-bond. All avian couples are irrevocably promised to each other as children (roughly when the boy is three years of age); the male is a constant protective presence in his betrothed's life. (Being in a time of war the falcons have sustained from this practice and did not object to their people’s choice to desist as well) As seen in the traditional betrothal system, Avian culture is quite conservative from mannerisms to dress. Everything is dictated by tradition, with an emphasis on respect to one's elders and the Royal Family. Socially, Avian people severely repress their emotions, neither laughing nor crying publicly. This control is dubbed "avian reserve", a term coined by other shape shifter tribes. The Falcon’s, of all the Avian people are seen to be as ‘living statues’. As worshipers of Ahnmik, they believe in the stillness of the earth so they may hear the God’s speak clearly and so keep very still themselves. The Avian people and Serpiente have warred for thousands of years. The royal families of both sides have been nearly decimated while their respective societies and cultures slip further and further into decay. History:The Avian people say that the first of their kind was a man named Alistair, a human raised by Falcons. He learned the language of the birds and was gifted with their form. There is no true record of how they came to be except for the feathers the grow on the nape of every Avian's neck, even when otherwise they appear human, and the wings they can grow when they choose- and of course the majestic birds form that is as natural to them as the legs and arms they wear normally. No one knows why the war started but it is said that long ago when there was peace between the Serpente and Avians a gathering of the two clans had taken place. Avian scholars say that in the night the Serpent Naga slipped into the bed of the Avian Alistair and with her powers of seduction, she held the falcon captive in her jeweled eyes while driving a Serpente dagger into his heart. Description:The Serpente are cold-blooded creatures with hair color in varying shades from light honey brown to black and eyes that consist of jeweled tones, including amber, sapphire and emerald. Every member of Serpente society is graced with a pure Serpent form ranging from Boa's to taipans, they can also assume a Demi-form. Each Serpente Demi-form consists of the eyes becoming more brightly colored, the pupils turning into slits as they grow their fangs and an amour of snake skin covers their body. Though all Serpente venom is poisonous a bite from a Serpente in their Demi-form results in a much slower and more painful death as the poison is less potent, but no less lethal. As worshipers of Anhamirak, the Serpiente value free choice above virtually everything else and so it seems to outsiders that pretty much anything is allowed in Serpiente society, so long as it doesn't bring harm anyone. Serpiente culture highly values dancing as well as music and art. The Serpente are very social beings and are always surrounded by other children while growing up, even when sleeping. This need for company continues throughout their adult lives. They are known to wear their emotions openly, even in situations where a little self control might be appropriate. But for them hiding ones emotions would be seen as a disgrace, especially from the Royal family, for the Serpente can sense emotions like they can feel or taste. And sense a void when that emotion is hidden. An Emotionless Ruler would be seen as heartless ruler. It is not uncommon for Serpente adolescents to have a few short lived relationships or 'flings' but when they are ready they choose their own mate and it is extremely rare to see a Serpente dishonor their vows. Though they are not well known for it, the Serpente people treat every vow made like a promise to the Gods, even if it is a simple vow. The Royal line of the Serpiente is the Endor family, cobra shape shifters and the descendants of Kiesha. The Naga(Queen) is the Serpente Ruler and her Mate is referred to as the Diente(King). The Endor family is known for their black hair and garnet colored eyes, which can hypnotize with a glance. They are known to be strict rulers of their people, quick to anger and even quicker to retaliate, but as all gossip goes it is not all truth. The Endor Family does not hold themselves above their people as if they wear the crown by some divine right, but see themselves as those placed upon the throne to protect the Serpente people. Anyone who is close to the members of the Endor Family knows there is much more to these exquisite creatures and that deep down they are people too. And though the Cobra's are strong and have ruled the Serpente for hundreds of years it has not always been so. Every Serpente knows that the White Viper, Maeve once led the Dasi and many White Vipers still believe that the Cobra's have no true claim to the Serpente throne, but no one has dared come forth against the Endor Family and their loyal subjects. And so while the Serpente have warred against the Avian people for thousands of years, suffering many losses along with many victories, the Endor Family has always been careful to watch for those who would sieze the throne in the name of Maeve's Kin. (White Vipers):White Viper's just like other Serpente are cold-blooded creatures and just like the Cobra's are known for their ebony locks and garnet eye's the White Vipers are known for their Ivory locks and brilliant Sapphire eyes. The Guild consists mainly of white vipers, Maeve's descendants. They live as exiles from Serpiente society, surviving in the forests through hunting and trading with the local wolf packs. Occasionally exiled Serpente join them, if they were exiled for crimes they reform or were sent away to survive in the wilderness, if all they did was refuse to fight in the Avian-Serpiente war the Guild takes them in. The members of the Guild follow the ways of the Rsh, the lower priests and priestesses of the Dasi cult and in doing so they put great emphasis on the practice of Sakkri and loyalty to the Gods as their ancestors did before them. The Rsh believed that everyone was connected on a basic level and thus when calling another by name you were really speaking your own name, hence members of the guild do not usually share their names except with their closest friends and family. The rift between the guild and Serpiente society dates back to the days of the Dasi, and they are wary of the Endor line. In the past there have been many occasions were amnesties were offered and mass executions were delivered. Though the Guild was pardoned two generations ago, and allowed back into Serpiente society, very few have taken up the offer. Though there are no longer hostilities between the two groups, there are still those who believe that the White Vipers should wear the Serpente Crown and refuse to bow to a Cobra. But there are those who simply prefer the guilds wandering ways, to the strict laws of the Serpente court. HistorySerpente who hold to the old myths as truth believe that the world began in fire and they also believe that after the fall of the Dasi, Kiesha, a woman of great beauty with garnet eyes, ebony hair and a cobra's fangs, rose from the cloud of war to lead the serpente people to prosperity. In her attempts to keep what powers they had left in balance, she banned Maeve's kin from their lands and ordered that every white viper be killed for fear that they would be led astray once more. After many generations Kiesha's descendants held out a welcoming and repentant hand to Maeve's kin, but the damage had been done and though few did return with forgiveness in their hearts, most vipers could not forgive the cobra's offences. Their history books read of a time when the Avian people and Serpente were friends until the night that the Alistair died at the hands of a snake. The Serpents believe that one of Maeve's kin used magic’s of illusion to take the Naga's form and misled the Avians into retaliating against them, killing their Naga in her sleep. Defenseless against both the Falcon's and Maeve's revenge.
