Soulight was alone for the time being. Arkie and Ethan had gone for a walk around the city, and the little litwick hadn't wanted to go with them. There were... a lot of scary things in the city, especially around this time of year. The park was nice and quiet, and there weren't any reminders of what holiday was right around the corner. At the moment, Soulight was swinging back and forth on one of the swings in the playground, enjoying himself warily.
"Lit... wick... lit... wick.... lit... wick... lit... wick..."
Back. Forth. Back. Forth. Back. Forth. Back. Forth.... It was a soothing sort of motion, and one he enjoyed from time to time. But it would be nicer if Ethan was here to push him... or even Season. The Deerling was more than capable of pushing with his hooves, and had done so on occasion. But no, Season was off somewhere else - presumably also in the city, getting into who knew how much trouble...

Brenny was excited for Halloween! Daddy was planning to go out as a robot with him, and he himself was dressing up as a kitten. He wasn't sure what Eliot was going as. The magikarp had planned to match Mei's costume; and with her gone, he was perplexed as to what he would be. Maybe a prince, Brenny thought. Yes, that would suit his brother nicely.He spotted someone on the swings and beamed. "Hi!" He called.
He hurried to meet the litwick, beaming. "I'm Brenny!" He introduced himself. "Are you all alone?" He asked. "Oooh, you're a ghost Pokemon, aren't you? I'm a celebi! I used to live in the forest closest to town. Want to play?"

Soulight looked up at the sound of a voice, and almost hopped off the swingset and hid. However, he would like to think he was braver than that.... so he stayed there, and at least turned around to say hi.
"Litwick... lit lit wick? Lit lit wicklit?" which translated to =Play... what do you want to play? It's not scary, is it?=
And yes, he was all alone, but he wasn't about to tell another that. Ethan said it was a bad practice to tell strangers that he was alone. It probably was, then. But the little litwick was so scared... why had he let Ethan and Arkie go away and leave him here? It was dark. It was scary... His flame wobbled a bit as he thought about it.

"Let's play whatever you like! You can pick!" Brenny was rather alarmed at the fact that the litwick thought games could be scary. He wasn't sure that was a possibility. "Let's play tag! Have you played that before? That's where you run and I chase you! ...No, I suppose that could be considered scary, huh? Do you have a favorite game?"
The celebi boy was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. He loved meeting new people, and even more than that, he loved making new friends. "What's your name?" He asked.

"Lit... Litwick." he said simply. =I'm Soulight.=
He hopped off the swingset, and looked up at the person. Way up. He was just a tiny little litwick, and this person was.. SO TALL compared to him. He thought for a moment about a fun game to play, then got it. He always played games with Ethan, and this one was a particular favorite of his.
"Litwicklit... wickwicklit?" he asked. =Can we play... hide-and-seek?=
Soulight LOVED hide-and-seek, especially if people agreed not to jump out and be all scary when they were found. If they did that, he'd just run and hide somewhere. But this one didn't seem like he'd do that. He seemed night.

"Hi Soulight! I like your name. You're lucky, you know! You get a light to protect you," Brenny said, almost enviously. "I bet it keeps away all the gho--er, all the bad witches!" He could have slapped himself. Of course the litwick's flame didn't keep away ghosts! He was a ghost!
The celebi boy paused and beamed. "I love hide and seek!" He exclaimed. It was one of his very favorites, apart from tag. "You want to be the hider, or the seeker? My daddy is usually the seeker! There aren't many places for him to hide because he's so big! But I'm a good seeker too." He was certain he would be able to find the litwick before Connie called him to come inside.

"Litwicklit!" Soulight said excitedly. =I'll hide!= - and with that, he was off to hide in the most interesting place he could find, deciding on an old tree-stump near the woods by the playground. He scooted back so that his flame would be hidden against the wall, and quieted everything about him. Maybe he could stay here and win the game? Surely, the celebi wouldn't think to look in an old stump... But if he did, that was okay too. Hide-and-Seek wasn't a game you could 'win' or 'lose'. Arkie said so once, so it must have been true.

The celebi boy covered his eyes and slowly began to count. "One, two, three..."he paused to see if he could hear any movement. "Four, five! Six, seven, eight, nine, ten! Ready or not, here I come!" He tended to imagine places he would hide, when seeking, and so the first place he looked was in the tops of the trees. He climbed up one, and looked through the leaves. No litwick there! Maybe behind the slide! Brenny hurried down the tree to look. He circled the slide twice before shaking his head. He looked in the tube on the playground. He looked under the bridge.
Where was Soulight? He was certainly a good hider!
He moved from the playground to the nearby woods. He hoped to get a glimse of the litwick's flame.

Since his flame was technically he life, he couldn't lose it - but he could hide it, pushing up against the back of the stump, so that the front of it covered up the flickering light. He closed his mouth, and tried to breathe very, very quietly as the celebi drew nearer and nearer. This game was kind of scary too... but it was a fun kind of scary.
He didn't move, even as Brenny drew even nearer. He even held his breath as the other got so very, very close....

"Soulight?" Brenny called, looking through the needles of a tree. He couldn't find the litwick anywhere. He was about to give up. He went to sit on the old nearby tree stump. He wasn't fond of the reminder that a tree had once stood here. He considered that, when he nearly fell into the hole in the stump. He shot upand whirled around. "Aha! There you are! Hi Soullight! Are you ready to be it? Okay, you count to ten."
He ran off to find a decent place to hide.

Brenny found him and ran off so fast, that Soulight didn't have time to really react all that much. He just started doing what he was told. Of course, pokemon couldn't physically count with numbers, but he closed his eyes, and counted inside his head. All the way to ten. Then, he turned around, and hopped out of the stump, going to look for the celebi...

Brenny hid behind the slide, giggling. He couldn't help himself, this was so much fun! He didn't think the little litwick would ever find him, and that thought delighted him. He'd win the game! He sat down in the wood chips and waited. There was one thing Brenny didn't like about hide n seek. The waiting. Every moment felt like--well, a really long moment. Hours, even, if he was waiting for Connie to get home.
Maybe he could give the litwick some help, should he prove to need it.
