Holy cow, that first tree was very intricate. like it started out simple at the trunk, and then BAM, exploded.
Is the second one all markers? The top sunset looks like colored pencil, the yellow looks like it could be watercolor, and then the back outlines are sharpie.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment.
edit: Nice technique of shading on the first one.

Oh, and just to let you know I moved this to Drawing Help, because I just felt like it fit here better, besides just floating around.

The Second drawing, with the color pencils, the only advice I would have is don't add that pinky-red color in at the top left corner. The other colors are all orange, and bright, not that calm, soothing color. But i know this was also from awhile ago, so you probably know that already. : B

Oh, and I have to say this - love your signature. I've been trying forever to stick to a signature so I could be identified, but all my signatures look bleh.

Great sketch! I like the little details you add, like the swing and in the sunset piece, little silhouetted plants.

Honestly I don't even remember attempting to draw an entire tree, but I have sketches of close-ups I did last year.

I think the thing with drawing trees, is to vary the line texture and shape, like thin, thick, etc. by using the side of the pencil or the tip of it. That's for expressive lines anyway, to give them character. This was something I realized in retrospect, so I didn't do it so much in those pictures...

For entire trees, it's helpful to group the leaves into clumps, then adding detail within those clumps. Only bits and pieces of branches showing amid the leaves is fine if it's spring or summer. Just my $0.02.

Edit: Why does everything show up so big? I have no idea how to resize??
